It also addresses the public health and safety concerns, marijuana-related incidents, and the need for advocacy and action.

Our guest today is Dr. Phillip Drum, a veteran clinical pharmacist and educator who has spent the last 13 years at the intersection of science and advocacy. From managing hospital pharmacy programs to training Drug Recognition Experts and advising the California Governor’s office, Dr. Drum is a recognized authority on the impact of marijuana on our roads. He was the sole pharmacist invited to present at a landmark DEA hearing, and he’s here to give us the clinical facts on marijuana today.

Take action today and write to the administration: president@whitehouse.gov

Please ask him NOT to reclassify marijuana from a CS1 to a CSIII. His reason for moving it to a CSIII was because he said that it could be studied more. Please let him know that since 1985 there have been 11,309 studies done to the tune of 4.7 billion dollars of taxpayer money and as a result, not one FDA approval was given for marijuana or cannabis. As a citizen, you urge him to leave marijuana as a controlled substance (CS) I.

Rethinking Addiction with Jeff Jones — A New Family Recovery Model Mar 12, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of The Addiction Podcast — Point of No Return, Jeff Jones explains how growing up in a family shaped by addiction led him to rethink how recovery truly works. He describes the unsafe dynamic between his mother and alcoholic grandfather — “it wasn’t safe for me to love him in my mother’s presence” — and how those early mixed messages inspired his lifelong curiosity about how families become part of the solution.

After becoming a therapist, Jeff saw the same harmful patterns repeated inside treatment centers, prompting him to challenge traditional cause‑and‑effect thinking. As he explains, “there’s one problem, one cause… that was not helpful,” emphasizing instead a contributing‑factors model that allows families to see addiction more clearly and respond more effectively.

Jeff also discusses his training with the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition and how nutritional recovery can support stabilization and detox. He shares a powerful example of helping a young woman detox from heroin using amino acids — “I helped her detox heroin with an amino acid” — while stressing that nutrition is only one part of a larger healing arc.

Today, Jeff runs a nine‑month family recovery program and a free six‑week masterclass designed to help families calm their nervous systems, set healthy boundaries, and create change that ripples outward to their loved one in addiction. His message is simple and hopeful: when families rethink old patterns, new solutions emerge.

She was instrumental in helping the Circle Program to become tobacco free in January 2000 and has been a strong advocate of the need to address all addictions at the same time, including tobacco, to improve outcomes. She has been actively incorporating complementary treatments into treatment programs, including the 5-point ear acupuncture NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol and BST (Brain Synchronization Therapy), to help patients recover from addiction as well as trauma which often underlie addiction and chronic pain issues. Her current mission is to educate as many people as possible on the un-intended consequences of the commercialization of marijuana in Colorado, focusing primarily on the deleterious effects of high potency THC on the developing brain.

    Show notes

For 30 years, Laura Stack was best known in the business world as "The Productivity Pro."

Her platform now brings prevention education to drug prevention conferences, community groups, and schools to stop youth marijuana use.

It is a side of the story the media rarely talks about, and once you hear it, you'll never look at the news the same way again

Is the medication meant to help us actually making the world more dangerous? Diane Stein is sounding the alarm on a major crisis. We're diving deep into the facts behind mass shootings and the powerful drugs found in the systems of the shooters. Diane breaks down the science and the cover-ups in a way that is easy to understand but impossible to forget. If you care about the safety of our schools and communities, you need to hear this.

Diane Stein accepted a leadership role at the Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) in 2015.

An experienced speaker who received certification on the Baker Act, Florida's mental health law, through the Department of Children and Families, Diane is sought after on topics ranging from involuntary psychiatric examination and mental health rights to the dangerous side effects of psychiatric medication.

As a Newsweek Expert, Diane is regularly interviewed by journalists and investigative reporters on emergency psychiatric holds including those involving children and the violation of parental and child rights under these circumstances.
