Changes THE OFFICE needs to make? Apr 23, 2007
    Show notes

I ran across this article on Digg.com this morning, and it got me thinking.Anthony Burch, of Tubewad.com, posted an essay called "The Biggest Changes the Best Shows on TV Need to Make," listing what he thought was "wrong" with all of his favorite (?) shows. Now, it's not like this guy is the voice of his generation or anything, and I find a lot of his comments pretty hyperbolic, so take it with a HUGE grain of salt. What does he think THE OFFICE needs to change? "Create a character whose sole purpose on the show is to punch Pam Beesley in the throat every other episode

I'm dead serious. Pam was absolutely adorable in the first and second seasons: her shy, understated glances at the camera frequently worked as the perfect punchline to Michael Scott's ridiculously offensive ramblings, and her blossoming quasi-romance with Jim was cute enough to make even a grown man interested in how it turned out.

Season three, however, has taught us that Pam's really just a hugely indecisive bitch... (more)"

I think we can all agree that's maybe going a BIT too far. But it makes me curious-- what do YOU guys think the writers should change about our favorite show for season four? I know we're still up in the air about how this season is going to end, but is there anything-- right now-- you think needs changing? Anything that they can do to make the show better than it is? How do you want to see the finale play out? Have you stopped caring about JAM? If so, how can they make you care again? Etc., etc. Or maybe you think everything is fine just the way it is. Hey, let us know that too.Post your comments below!

How Much Do You Love The Office? Apr 23, 2007
    Show notes

Do you love it 65 dollars worth? The NBC/Universal Store is now selling official replica terry robes, as seen in the episode A BENIHANA CHRISTMAS.Dunder Mifflin Terry Robe Lounging around the house doesn't get better in the Dunder Mifflin terry robe. This robe is the exact same one as worn by Michael and Toby in the Office's holiday episode. It features the Dunder Mifflin Inc logo embroidered on the chest, a removable waist strap, and hand warmer pockets on both sides. Measures approximately 48'' from collar to hem. One size fits most. Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.(Ian and I will gladly accept them as gifts...)

    Episode # 20 -- "Safety Training" (04/12/07) Apr 16, 2007
    Show notes

Episode # 20 of THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID finds both Matt and Ian furiously working around the clock to finish their depression quilt. He can bail if he wants to, he can leave his friends behind... because his friends don't bail, and if they don't bail, they're no friends of mine! Michael finds himself chastized by the warehouse crew over his lack of safety, but who can blame him? It's just a fancy red trash compactor, after all. And Michael's right-- Since when did Nerf stop being cool? It's all about the visuals, though, and it just takes is a bouncy house and a five story drop to get Michael's point across. Oh, and by the way, What are the odds on this episode of That's What She Said being completely awesome? About 10,000 to 1... Incidental music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network. Rainn Wilson On Jay, Angela Kinsey On Dave Apr 13, 2007
    Show notes

Man, talk about your dilemas! What's a Dwangela fan to do? Tonight, Rainn Wilson is going to be on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, and Angela Kinsey will be appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman. I'm guessing Angela will be talking about her appearance on "Thank God You're Here", as well as the typical OFFICE related stuff (did anyone watch that show, btw? I missed it).Rainn Wilson seems to be a late add to Leno... still, he's always entertaining in these sorts of venues.Set your DVRs, folks.

    The Office -- Episode # 3.20 "Safety Training" Apr 12, 2007
    Show notes

Geez... what the heck? Only seven days since THE NEGOTIATION and we have another NEW episode? I'm completely gobsmacked.Kidding aside, NBC describes SAFETY TRAINING thus-wise:SAFETY TRAINING 8:30/7:30c TV14 04.12.2007 SAFETY LESSONS IN THE OFFICE - Andy (Ed Helms) returns to the office after several weeks of anger management training, determined to make a fresh start with all the Dunder-Mifflin employees. Meanwhile, it's safety training day in the office, and Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) are on a mission to illuminate the true dangers of the workplace. John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Paul Lieberstein, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Creed Barton, Rashida Jones and Craig Robinson also star. As we asked on the last podcast, will Andy find a place for himself at Dunder-Mifflin? Have we had enough of his Cornell referencing shenanigans? Guess we'll soon see.Remember, Ian & I will be in the TWSS chatroom tonight after the show, at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central. Also, NBC finally posted a deleted scene from THE NEGOTIATION... it's pretty long, and not THAT funny (Michael talks in-depth about how he came to buy his suit, and how he got popped in the eye by a "Missy Elliot type"), so I can see why it was deleted.

    Episode # 19 -- "The Negotiation" (04/05/07) Apr 10, 2007
    Show notes

Episode # 19 of THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID finds both Matt and Ian pondering their love of nunchucks and throwing stars. Pippity Poppity, give Micheal the Zoppity! After fourteen years without asking for a raise, it's time to make it hap'n, cap'n! With a crack crew like Darryl and Toby along, it should be a piece of cake. Right? Er...right? Jim avoids a serious beat-down thanks to Dwight's quick thinking, but what do you get for the man who refuses to take anything? Pam and Roy making peace? And the return of Dunder Mifflin's prodigal son. Who could ask for anything more? Incidental music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network. The Eggs Aren't Smaller... Our Lies Are Just Bigger! Apr 09, 2007
    Show notes

Since it's Easter, and since I just stumbled across this a few minutes ago, I thought I had to get the word out! Our very own B. J. Novak has uncovered a conspiracy so insidious, so horrible, so... evil... that the world must be made aware!Cadbury have shrunk the size of their (in)famous Creme Eggs, and they're trying to cover it up! For Shame!

The Cast Imagines Life In Scranton Apr 07, 2007
    Show notes

Just thought this was somewhat interesting-- The Scranton Times-Tribune interviewed several cast members of THE OFFICE, asking them what they thought of when they thought of the REAL city of Scranton, PA (none of them has ever been there, aside from Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Kate Flannery). So what do they imagine Scranton is like?Jenna Fischer (Pam): "I've always imagined Scranton as something like a hybrid of St. Louis and Kirksville (the small Missouri town where she attended college). Not as small as Kirksville, but not as big as St. Louis,? said Ms. Fischer, who also pictures a bunch of family-owned businesses doing battle with the Wal-Marts of the world. "I always imagine Roy's family owned an appliance store.? Ed Helms (Andy): "Cold, for some reason. I have like a frigid association with it. And a little bit like the smaller towns around Atlanta where I grew up. Sort of like some strip malls and some low rise office buildings. And a very charming and cheerful population.? Angela Kinsey (Angela): "I picture sort of a quaint New England town.? Well, Ms. Kinsey will find out for herself in May, when she and co-star Brian Baumgartner (Kevin) visit Scranton to promote a proposed "Office? convention that organizers hope to hold sometime this fall. Oscar Nuñez (Oscar): "I grew up in New Jersey, so I picture it like New Jersey. When I see the opening credits, yeah, I know about that town. It's industral, there's a lot of people.? Leslie David Baker (Stanley): "Not as action-packed as this office. People aren't knocking each other down or knocking cups out of their hands. Probably real quiet, peaceful. That's a good safe answer, isn't it?? Kate Flannery (Meredith), a Philadelphia native who has been to Scranton: "What I love about Scranton is that it seems like it hasn't been corrupted by the '70s and '80s architecture,? said Ms. Flannery, who visited friends at the University of Scranton in the mid-1980s. "It feels like the architecture is very pure ... I just love the sense of history of it. It's also a great college town.?My girlfriend and I drove into town back in January of 2007, but we didn't get to see much in those 25 minutes. Maybe someday...EDIT:Did I just miss them saying people are trying to organize an OFFICE convention sometime in the fall? Has this been common knowledge? It's news to me. Sounds like the first TWSS roadtrip!EDIT 2:The Scranton Times ALSO had an article recently talking about how Scranton is becoming a tourist destination for fans of THE OFFICE. Hey, it worked on me... one shocking bit of news? The "Welcome To Scranton" sign featured in the opening (which I was trying to find) had been mothballed by the city! City officials are talking about bringing it out of the warehouse, though, since people keep wanting to see it. I guess you can't blame the local tourist bureau for trying to cash in on this... that's where the aforementioned "fan convention" comes in.

    The Office -- Episode # 3.19 "The Negotiation" Apr 05, 2007
    Show notes

Wow, has it been six weeks already? After "newpeats" and "Flender-thons," we're finally back to see if Halpert receives his promised "ass beating" (thanks, Elisa!) or not. The mind boggles at the possibilities.NBC describes the episode like this:THE NEGOTIATION 8:00/7:00c TV14 04.05.2007 SALARY NEGOTIATIONS DRIVE MICHAEL TO THINK ABOUT HIS OWN PAY - Darryl (Craig Robinson) decides to meet with Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) to negotiate a pay increase. Meanwhile, Jim (John Krasinski) deals with the consequences of Pam's (Jenna Fischer) confession to Roy (David Denman) . Rainn Wilson, B.J.Novak, Melora Hardin, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Minday Kaling, Paul Lieberstein, Creed Barton, and Rashida Jones also star. REMEMBER-- It's "Supersized" and starts a half hour earlier than usual!

    Episode # 18.5 -- Retro TWSS "The Injury" Apr 02, 2007
    Show notes

Episode # 18.5 of THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID finds both Matt and Ian revving up the flux capacitor for another trip back in time. Michael's down, gang... all for the love of crispy, crackling bacon... and it's Dwight to the rescue (whether Micheal wants him to or not). What's more serious-- a foot injury, or a head injury? Michael's faith in his employees is shattered, but can Pam and a tub of Country Crock make things right again? And Dwight? What's a little concussion between pals? Oh, by the way, you forgot your bumper, man. Incidental music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network.
