It's Diving Week here at TSFU! "Chris Lemons, along with his colleagues Duncan Allcock and David Yuasa, were carrying out repairs 100 metres (330 ft) below the surface of the North Sea, supported by the support vessel Bibby Topaz. The vessel's dynamic positioning system, supplied by Kongsberg Maritime, failed. This caused the vessel to drift in rough seas, dragging the divers away from the area they were working and eventually snapping the umbilical tether that provided Lemons with heliox to breathe, as well as hot water to heat his suit, power for his light, and a communications link to the surface. Ominous Oceans- Ep. 3: Deadly Deep Diving Disaster Jul 27, 2023

Ok y'all knoooow I love an acronym but I really did think that "Deadly Deep Diving Disaster" was the most apropos description for this episode!
As most of you know, I'm currently in Denmark and am in a pretty rural location with very spotty internet, so I'm currently at a coffee shop with wifi to get you your goodies (aka episodes lol)! And... what's kind of funny is that this episode is co-hosted again by Celi, but also by my Danish boyfriend, executive producer of the show and former diving instructor, Martin Soderhamn!
In today's episode Martin tells Ash and Celi about the story of David Shaw, an experienced technical diver who planned to dive into Boesmansgat (known as Bushman’s Hole in English) in South Africa, to retrieve the body of Deon Dreyer, a diver who met his face in its darkness 10 years earlier. Sadly, things go very wrong.You should listen to this episode before the next because Martin's explanations of diving will help you understand the next story better!

Ominous Oceans- Ep. 2: Terrifying Giant Squid Attacks Jul 18, 2023

This week, Ash and Celi talk about giant squids. Ash's found a whole new thing to fear in the ocean as she's now learned that giant squids are even more aggressive than sharks. The Humboldt Squid or "Rojo Diablo" can grow up to 14 ft and 700 lbs, with 24,000 razor sharp teeth, 8 tentacles with a death like suction and grip, and a ferociously powerful beak. They've been known to hunt in packs, devouring local Mexican fishermen. And that's just one of the types of scary squids that the gals cover this week!

In their first episode, Ash and Celi talk about the infamous Bermuda Triangle. Considered one of the most notorious places on earth and haunted but not recognized on official maps, it is located in the Atlantic Ocean, off North America. More than 50 ships and 20 airplanes said to have disappeared in this region, although some sources cite much higher numbers. Ships have been found abandoned for no reason, some transmitted no distress signals before everyone disappeared, some were just never heard from again. In many cases, wreckage has not been found. What the heck is going on here?!

MLM Mayhem- Ep. 3: Herbalife Jun 27, 2023

This week Ash and Fallon conclude TSFU Presents: MLM Mayhem on one of the biggies, that recently paid out $12.5 in a class action lawsuit, Herbalife! We know it seems weird to end on "episode 3", but let's summarize who and what we learned about this month:

Herbalife... “Nutrition for your best life”! I feel like "best life" sure gets tossed around a lot in these pyramid scheme slogans, and literally almost no one is living anywhere near their best lives when they're trapped in these awesome multi-level marketing businesses. Although founder Mark Hughes definitely was once he started the company, with no nutritional background whatsoever, in 1980. Hughes expanded rapidly and internationally, particularly into financially vulnerable Latino communities. There's probably an Herbalife club or five in your very city right. now. Ash and Fallon also discuss how Hughes may have learned his MLM skills while he was stuck at a Troubled Teen Industry "residential school". Troubled teen industry victim to MLM/cult leader. And now they're getting sued, yay! This is a weird one.
