In the Dark Horse Comics book Blue Book, artist Michael Avon Oeming, writer, James Tynion IV, and editor Greg Lockard retell some of the most popular UFO and alien encounter accounts starting with the infamous Betty and Barney Hill abduction. Issue One of the book is available now, with Issue Two dropping March 22, 2023.

Oeming and Lockard join host Aaron Sagers to discuss their interest in the UFO subjects, how to adapt these classic cases accurately, the artistic style, and future cases they will be tackling.

Talking County Crowley Volume 2 with David Dastmalchian Mar 14, 2023

Actor David Dastmalchian has become known as one the busier guys working in Hollywood thanks to roles in The Suicide Squad, Dune, MCU's Ant-Man franchise, The Dark Knight, and more. But he's also the creator and writer behind Count Crowley: Amateur Midnight Monster Hunter, which revolves around late-night horror host Jerri Bartman who discovers her job also entails real-life supernatural threats. The second volume of the Dark Horse Comic debuted in March 2022, and now Volume 2 of Count Crowley is hitting bookstores as a trade paperback on March 14, 2023.

David joined Talking Strange on the day of the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and before the premiere of his movie Late Night With The Devil at South By Southwest, to discuss Count Crowley Volume 2. He also chats about monsters and the paranormal, and teases a bit more of what's to come with Jerri Bartman, and even her potential leap to live action.

Author David L. Sloan (Robert the Doll, Haunted Key West), the "doll-tender" one of the most famous haunted dolls, Robert — and occult researcher Heather Greene (Lights, Camera, Witchcraft) — join host Aaron Sagers to talk about the true story behind a doll that rivals Annabelle. Talking Irish Folk-Horror Unwelcome with Director Jon Wright Mar 06, 2023

In the new folk horror movie Unwelcome, an English couple moves to the Irish countryside only to discover that goblins called Redcaps live behind their garden, and demand to be fed daily, or else they become hungry, and ornery.

Director Jon Wright (Grabbers, Robot Overlords) joins Talking Strange to discuss Unwelcome, the film that's both a creature feature as well as something of a home invasion film. It begins with an English couple mother-to-be Maya and husband Jaime (played by Hannah John-Kamen, from Ant-Man and The Wasp, and the MCU’s upcoming Thunderbolts, and Douglas Booth Netflix’s The Dirt, Jupiter Ascending) threatened in their London flat, only to move to the Irish countryside due to a home that’s been left to them by an aunt who has passed away. They set about doing renovations on the home, as well as interacting with superstitious townspeople who warn them to set out food nightly for the Redcaps…but another threat involves a family of local contractors who are up to no good and resent the English interlopers.

In the following conversation, Wright and host Aaron Sagers discuss the folkloric origins of the film, and the tonal balance. He also reveals more about the crazy ending and sequel ideas for this cult classic in the making.

Unwelcome is available now on digital in the UK, Coming to Select Theaters March 10 and Digital March 14.

Small Talk: Ghosts Ghosted Me, Then Returned Feb 24, 2023

In this Talking Strange "Small Talk" mini-sode, host Aaron Sagers reads listener mail from a young woman in the United Kingdom who would see ghosts as a child, then they faded — only to return as she got older, but could only sense them this time. She doesn't think they are evil, and instead thinks they may be protectors, but wonders what to do about it.

Also, Aaron tells the story about when he first met Nick Groff (who appeared in the main ep this week to talk about his show Death Walker), and reads advice for a man who experienced a ghost playing with a bouncy ball upstairs of his old house, which interrupted TV time.
