    Remembering the last 10 years in America and navigating the fact that i haven't seen my Dad in that many years as well.
    I share my struggles of being separated from my dad during this time, emphasizing the importance of cherishing each day and not taking anything for granted especially with our loved ones.
    As we traverse the path of gratitude, this episode serves as a tribute to my father’s unconditional love, marking the 10th anniversary of not seeing each other IRL (The 1st for us). Reflecting on our relationship that's shaped by open communication and mutual respect, symbolizing the dynamics of a unique parent-child relationship.

Formerly a Senior Provisioning Engineer, he transitioned to a full-time art career in 2018. Giles has curated art shows for emerging artists, exhibited widely in Atlanta, and focuses on the intersection of people, the planet, and discarded materials. His unique paintings, crafted from reclaimed paper, magazines, cardboard, oil pastels, fabric, and sawdust, igniting social conversations on beauty and waste.

    Have you ever wondered what it's like to attend a podcast conference, especially as an African, Diaspora, or a person of color? Well Sambaza and I's incredible journey at a recent podcast conference will give you the inside scoop as you join us in reminiscing about the electrifying in person experience we had. From celebrating our first IG live with a yogurt shot to panel discussions and lessons learned from our fellow Podcasters of color.

    Navigating through the conference, we realized just how rewarding it can be to channel creativity, even with limited resources. As we were confronted with the challenges of securing sponsorships and dealing with budget constraints, we discovered the value of networking and expanding our knowledge - all contributing to unique podcasting experiences. Attending the Afros conference, the importance of making connections and exploring creative advertising on a budget were invaluable lessons on the journey.
    Sambaza shares valuable insights from his 1on1 with Amy, our experience with responsible and ratchet promotion, and the importance of consistency to one's brand.
    We also highlight innovative ways to engage listeners, such as using SpeakPipe to collect voice notes and merchandise for giveaways.

    Finally, what would a conference be without the afterparty? The vibrant energy, the chance to unwind, socialize, and build relationships made it an unforgettable experience. We had a blast creating content for social media, celebrating our journeys within the podcasting world, and gathering knowledge from different communities. By the end of it all, I was emboldened by self-belief, encouraged by the tremendous support from others, and ready to make my mark in the podcasting world and stages.

    Our guest on the show today, multimedia journalist and community storyteller, Nile, shares his intriguing journey. From a middle school student discovering his passion for writing to a renowned storyteller.
    Nile's journey is nothing short of inspiring. He shares some delightful anecdotes, and We also delve into his transformative storytelling experiences, with compelling tales from his interviews, including those with Shark Tank hopeful Alexiou and bare-knuckle boxer Bruce.
    My conversation with Nile further traverses the fascinating intersection of storytelling, mental health awareness, and the influence of cinema on his craft. He shares his unique approach to structuring interviews to truly understand his subjects, underlining the importance of meaningful conversations over small talk. Nile emphasizes on the crucial role of self-care and mental health, and how his work has been influenced by cinema, making for an enriching dialogue. We also discuss the power of unscripted dialogues and trusting your guest to foster engaging conversations.
    We also explore how challenging oneself can aid in achieving one's goals and the balance between multimedia projects and keeping a check on mental health. Nile shares his experiences juggling between podcasting, writing, PR, and social media management, and the value of saying 'no' to maintain that vital balance. He also talks about his current projects and the magic of bringing people together to create something special.
