A well-meaning performance review for Ole Miss’ CEO, Lane Kiffin Oct 16, 2024

Show notes

Ole Miss fans — or ‘The Shareholders,’ as they will be referred moving forward in this all-new edition of Talk of Champions — should have one question and one question only for fifth-year head coach Lane Kiffin after LSU.

The Rebels have already suffered their second loss of an already-in-peril 2024-25 season. They’re down to No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll as a result. Ole Miss is off this week but next hosts Oklahoma in two Saturdays. What is Kiffin doing to fix this? It’s not personal, only business, and both losses lay directly at Kiffin’s feet.

Pro mindset? So be it. Then I, Ben Garrett (@SpiritBen on X), am holding you, Lane Kiffin, the Ole Miss CEO, to account.

The Flagship: Former Reb OL Ben Still and the solve of Ole Miss’ biggest issue Oct 16, 2024

Show notes

In this all-new edition of ‘The Flagship,’ powered by College Corner, the Ole Miss Spirit’s Zach Berry (OMSpirit.com) welcomes former Rebel Ben Still, a multi-year starter for Ole Miss over his career in the mid-2010s.

Ole Miss is 5-2 (1-2) on the 2024-25 season and on its bye after its latest loss at LSU. The Rebels still haven’t won in Death Valley since 2008.

Their contender status for the first-ever, 12-team College Football Playoff these many years later is in peril because of it — a 29-26 overtime stinker.

Where do the Rebels go from here? Again, Ole Miss is off this week, but the Rebels get Oklahoma (4-2, 1-2) two Saturdays from now. The new-look Sooners were whipped by top-ranked Texas over the weekend.

Berry and Still discuss the struggles of the Ole Miss offensive line in particular. They also consider how the home stretch could shake out for the Rebels — assuming they make some much-needed and long-overdue tweaks.

The Flagship: Ole Miss football now taking long look in mirror Oct 15, 2024

Show notes

In this post-LSU edition of ‘The Flagship,’ powered by College Corner, Zach Berry is joined by his Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com) teammate Jake Thompson as we continue to wade through the fallout of Ole Miss’ heartbreaking, season-defining and possibly program-altering loss in Death Valley.

What went wrong? How will Lane Kiffin and Co. respond over the Rebels’ by this week? They're rapidly running out of time, if they haven't already.

A ‘Yank in the Sip’ heads to Death Valley for Ole Miss-LSU Oct 10, 2024

Show notes

Ben Garrett (OMSpirit.com) welcomes Jake Sarachek inside the RiverLand Roofing Studios for an all-new edition of Talk of Champions.

Sarachek is spending the 2024-25 season embedded with the Ole Miss football team. His insider experiences so far have included a full game spent inside the booth as David Kellum, the voice of the Rebels, calls a game. He’s even shadowed Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter for a full game day.

Suffice to say, his Ole Miss perspective is wholly unique. Sure, Sarachek was born and raised a New York Giants fan obsessed with Eli Manning. But Little did he know his life’s work would one day take him to the Deep South and Manning’s old stomping grounds for months.

LSU Twitch: A traditional Ole Miss rivalry in 2024? SIGN US UP Oct 10, 2024

Show notes

Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com) settled in on Wednesday night for a play-through of No. 9 Ole Miss’ upcoming road trip to No. 10 LSU.

The Rebels are 5-1 (1-1 SEC) on an expectations-filled 2024-25 season after rebounding from an upset loss to Kentucky with a 27-3 win at South Carolina. The Tigers are 4-1 (1-1) and winners of four straight following a season-opening loss to USC.

Ole Miss hasn’t beaten LSU in Death Valley since 2008 — a 31-13, Jevan-Snead-led Rebel win. Can Jaxson Dart and Co. finally solve the riddle once more this weekend?

Fans and media obviously have little or nothing to do with the ultimate outcome. But we have NCAA ’25 to help us generate a better picture.

So, let’s get after it, all while answering your Ole Miss questions and hitting on the Rebel hot-button topics you care about.

Ivey League: JI and process-oriented Ole Miss are on to LSU Oct 08, 2024

Show notes

Welcome inside the RiverLand Roofing Studios for the latest edition of the ‘Ivey League,’ a podcast starring Ole Miss star defender Jared Ivey, and powered by the Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com).

No. 9 Ole Miss (5-1, 1-1 SEC) is preparing this week for an upcoming road trip to No. 10 LSU (4-1, 1-1). Fortunately, the vibes are closer to normal after the Rebels rebounded from their loss to Kentucky with a win at South Carolina.

Ivey and his Rebel teammates are vying for a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff and Ole Miss’ first title since the 60s. The Rebels’ process, even after a loss, was unchanged despite the early-season setback.

Now they’ll see if they can keep the momentum going against a traditional rival and in a hostile environment the Rebels haven’t won in since 2008.

Old friend Jehiem Oatis has hit the portal. Ole Miss the move? Oct 08, 2024

Show notes

The connective tissue for now-former Alabama defensive tackle Jehiem Oatis to eventually transfer to Ole Miss is hard to ignore.

Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss football Rebels desperately wanted Jehiem Oatis back when he was one of Mississippi’s top-ranked prospects in the 2022 recruiting class.

Oatis hit the portal this week in order to preserve his redshift after just four games in 2024-25. He announced he intends to transfer at season’s end.

Ben Garrett welcomes his Ole Miss Spirit teammate, and the best dang Rebel recruiting dude on the internet, Zach Berry, into the RiverLand Roofing Studios for an all-new edition of Talk of Champions to discuss the Oatis development, among other topics.

No. 9 Ole Miss (5-1, 1-1 SEC) bounced back from its upset loss to Kentucky with a solid, if spotty, 27-3 win at South Carolina. The Rebels this week are preparing for a road trip to No. 10 LSU (4-1, 1-0).

The Rebel Hell Hotline, powered by Cannon Motors and in association with the Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com), sets the stage with Rebel football legend John Fourcade and Harry Harrison of the Ole Miss Radio Network.

The No. 12 Rebels bounced back from an upset loss to Kentucky with a 27-3 bullying of the Gamecocks in Columbia. They improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 SEC — but, perhaps more importantly, stabilized their season.

Ole Miss also raised its offensive floor and received a breakout game from Suntarine Perkins, who was a late injury substitution for injured EDGE Princely Umanmielen.
