Show notes

Ole Miss football went into the weekend with a 2023 class lagging near the 60s in industry-wide recruiting rankings.

The Rebels now find themselves in the Top 25.

Safe to say 'Juice Fest,' the final significant recruiting event before Ole Miss opens fall camp practices this week, was a rousing success. The Rebels landed five commitments, including a pair of four-stars.

Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit, On3) and David Johnson (Inside the Rebels, 247) have the absolute latest in another crossover podcast, and the guys also share some thoughts on the imminent return of Ole Miss football.

What ESPN got right (and wrong) in its game-by-game predictions for Ole Miss football in 2022 Jul 26, 2022

Show notes

Ole Miss was 10-3 last season, including its 10th all-time appearance in the Sugar Bowl.

The Rebels were undefeated at home, only lost twice in the SEC and added off-season reinforcements in the form of one of the very best NCAA transfer portal classes in the country.

But ESPN has Ole Miss going 8-4 in 2022.

To be fair, the record is probably dead-on as far preseason predictions go, but ESPN projects a 7-0 start for the Rebels. That means a limp to the finish, so how will categorize success, then? What else did ESPN get right (and wrong)?

Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit, On3) and David Johnson (Inside the Rebels, 247) discuss in another crossover podcast, powered by Thomas Chandler of Capital Financial Group.

Show notes

Ole Miss football returns in a week.

This is not a drill.

The Rebels will soon open fall camp practices, and there's plenty we're keeping an eye on, including a neck-and-neck quarterback battle between Jaxson Dart and Luke Altmyer.

But what else? Well, Ole Miss has a few additional question marks worth paying attention to, and we don't have to dream about possibly winning a national championship anymore. What's the path?

Plus, Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit, On3) and David Johnson (Inside the Rebels, 247) discuss, as well as share their thoughts on the NCAA possibly allowing unlimited transfers and much, much more.

It's football time.

How Ole Miss landed Northwestern slugger Anthony Calarco, in his own words Jul 24, 2022

Show notes

In this edition of Franchise Player, in association with the Ole Miss Spirit, an affiliate of On3.com, Ben Garrett is joined by Anthony Calarco, a slugging first baseman from Northwestern.

Calarco committed to the defending national champion Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday.

Calarco, who bats right and throws left, started 51 games for Northwestern last season. He hit .325 with a team-high 13 home runs, and he also led the team with a 1.051 OPS, 48 runs scored, 34 walks, and 54 RBI.

All were career-highs.

Calarco has a year of eligibility remaining, and Ole Miss, he said, was an easy call.

But don't take our word for it.

Calarco goes in-depth on his second recruiting process, including the plan Ole Miss has laid out for him, the schools he considered and much, much more.

And he's doing so as he continues as Ole Miss head football coach, which, let's be honest, wasn't a sure thing back when the off-season kicked off in the winter.

Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit, On3) and David Johnson (Inside the Rebels, 247) discuss it all in another crossover podcast, powered by Thomas Chandler of Capital Financial Group.
