Redemption Island Episode 13 May 12, 2011

How about that. Ashley might actually possess some ability to play the game after all. It took 13 episodes, but it was nice to finally see someone besides Rob in the Ometepe tribe actually thinking about the game. Grant, Ashley and even Natalie finally displayed some strategic ability. Of course, none of them are functioning at the same level as the Robfather. Do you think it has been hard for them to watch at home and see just how bad they were outplayed by Rob? Who do you most want to see return from Redemption Island? Do you think we will get to see Rob play his HII? What's your ideal final five? Can you think of any scenario where Phillip gets any votes if he makes it to the final tribal council? Who do you have picked to win it all?

We got another episode that polarized the audience this week. Some really enjoyed it, especially the grueling Immunity challenge. Others continued to find it predictable with Andrea being the first target. There was also a split this week when it came to predictions for who will go next between Grant and Ashley. The argument to keep Grant to help fight off the RI threat makes a lot of sense. So does the rationale that says Rob will want to remove him as soon as you can because he views him as the biggest remaining threat among the Ometepe players. This week we interviewed Steve Wright. He left the game in episode 12 of Survivor Redemption Island. Steve surprised us by lasting as long as he did. We both thought he would be an early target and be voted out before the merge. Oddly enough, his impressive physical condition contributed significantly to his eventual undoing. Ometepe begins to eat its own, and RI brings the reward dilemma that we were craving. Unfortunately, both events fail to deliver the disruption in the status quo that we were hoping for. The family visit seemed to further cement the disparity between the Robfather's approach to the game and the remaining Ometepes. How is that he gets a new shirt from a loved one? Do you think he's getting special treatment? Did you worry for his safety in the immunity challenge? What did you make of Mike's choice after winning the duel? Did it help or hurt his chances if he makes it back from RI? Are you buying Phillip's explanation of his grand strategy? Do you think anyone on the jury will? As Stephanie predicted, the storm wiped out the last Zapatera members that threw the challenge and sent Russell packing. Redemption Island Episode 11 Apr 28, 2011

The total domination of Zapatera is almost complete. With all of the remaining members at Redemption Island, there is only one chance for a Zapatera to return to the game now. Given the divine intervention that Matt receives in the duels, that seems very unlikely. Be honest. Some of you are starting to think that Phillip has tapped into a higher power too, right? How else can you explain the manifestation of feathers and most importantly the vision that enabled him to find his shorts? Now it gets interesting. Ometepe has to finally turn on each other. Do you think they will take the easy route and vote out Andrea? Will she accept that fate or go down fighting? If Matt makes it back from Redemption Island and into the final 3 against Rob, will he be able to beat him? What is your assessment of this group? Do you think we will have a jury that respects gameplay or will we see another classic bitter vote against the person that beat them? We agree with you. Episode 10 was quite the mixed bag. One person came to Phillip's defense, but the majority think he was way off base but certainly a great person to have sitting next to you in a final Tribal Council. Rob seems to have the perfect foils in Phillip and Natalie. Rob can play as cut throat as he needs to when it comes time for the former Ometepe members to turn on each other, and he could still come away with the votes to win with kooky Phillip and Natalie the parrot with him at the end. This week we interviewed David Murphy. He left the game in episode 10 of Survivor Redemption Island. In the pre-season interviews, we were told that David had the highest IQ of anyone to ever play the game. He said he would have to "dumb himself down" if he had any hope of relating to his tribemates. In the end, he fell into a familiar pattern of overthinking and wasn't able to master the social aspects of the game.
