Giovanni discusses how he works with venture capitalists and what it is like talking about watches with a group of investment minded professionals. They talk about the impact that celebrities wearing certain watches have on the value of those timepieces, and how some consumers are heavily influenced to simply just buy that specific piece as opposed to it opening the doors to a new hobby for them. Ariel brings up auction houses and brands that refuse to publish their pricing, and how that affects the industry of selling and reselling as a whole. When discussing Everywatch Giovanni explains why they are extremely data driven and how they provide comprehensive data and notification services that include historical, current, and upcoming data from auctions, dealers, and marketplaces globally. They dive into not only what makes them different with their business model, but also how they acquire the data they do, and how that affects auctions.

This week on the Superlative Podcast, host and aBlogtoWatch Founder Ariel Adams is joined by Raphael Granito, the CEO of Formex. To start the show Ariel and Raphael talk about his background in the watch industry growing up while his father ran Dexel, a company manufacturing watch components. Ariel dives into Raphael’s decision to start working with his father's company at 19, when the more usual Swiss custom would be for a young family member to go off and work elsewhere before joining a family business. Raphael talks about the future of Formex with its current growth rate, and his professional transition from product development at his father's company to jumping into his CEO role at Formex. Ariel asks Raphael about his initial thoughts regarding Formex, and what about the company made him want to be a part of the brand's reawakening. Ariel inquires about the right way for companies to have competitive pricing to sell directly to consumers while also having a healthy relationship with retailers. Raphael talks about the DNA of Formex that he wanted to carry over after he joined, and how focusing on simplicity as a way of streamlining things has been a good strategy for the brand.

To start the show Ariel has Larry talk about his start in the jewelry industry working with precious metals, and how he transitioned into selling luxury watches. Larry dives into how he got the momentum going in his precious metals business and how he developed relationships with his customers who were looking to get rid of some of their no longer needed jewelry and pieces of their watch collections. The two talk about how this led to Larry re-selling used luxury timepieces and developing a new branch of his clientele who were interested in watches and not just precious metals or fine jewelry. As a retailer, Larry discusses how important it is for him to be able to openly communicate and connect with his customers on a deeper level, and how his customers truly appreciate not being treated as just a transaction. Throughout his years as a jeweler, Larry was able to develop multiple relationships that would assist him in becoming the Official Jewelry Partner of the Los Angeles Kings NHL Hockey team, and he offers his advice to any brand who is looking to partner with any sport or professional team.
