Episode 108 - Success in Spain Apr 10, 2021

Manchester United defeated Granada 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie in Spain on Thursday to put themselves in pole position for a place in the last four.

Marcus Rashford raced on to a long ball by Victor Lindelof to fire United in front.

Bruno Fernandes converted a late penalty after he was caught off the ball by Yan Eteki, leaving him with a bruised eye, but the Portuguese midfielder's spot-kick went through the hands of Rui Silva.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without the suspended trio of captain Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay for the second leg at Old Trafford next week.

Assessing the performances at Los Carmenes, Dale and Mike provide their thoughts on Granada v Manchester United.

Welcome to another Strettycast, the Manchester United podcast, with myself and Mike.

In this episode, we question Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team selection against Leicester City after United crashed out of the FA Cup.

The goals were conceded were abysmal (Dean Henderson wasn’t at fault for any of them) and questions are also asked of our defense and midfield.

There was no key influence on the pitch for United yesterday. The system failed against a tactically fluid Leicester side that were underestimated from the start. It was worth remembering ahead of kick-off that this is a team one point behind United in the league.

Episode 105 - Pogba back with a bang Mar 19, 2021

Strettycast episode 105 - Dale and Mike react to an important win against AC Milan at the San Siro. This episode was record before the draw took place for the quarter-finals, so we'll discuss that on Monday morning.

Paul Pogba took the headlines after coming on as a half-time substitute, only to score the match-winner minutes later.

He was superb in the middle and gave United a new lease of life. Having him back fit will be a huge bonus and our fingers are firmly crossed with hope he avoids injury or illness while away with the French squad next week.

The lads are confident about going all the way in the Europa League this season after beating AC Milan, who after United were probably the best side left in the competition before we knocked them out.

Episode 104 - The David Moyes Derby Mar 15, 2021

I don't think anyone calls it the David Moyes derby but we do. Manchester United got over the line against West Ham who came to Old Trafford to defend.

The visitors sat back and welcomed pressure.

It didn't work and as soon as they conceded an own goal they began to attack the Reds in numbers.

West Ham deserved to lose the game given how they approached it from the start. It was dull and exactly what you'd expect of 90 minutes of football with Moyes.

It was arguably one of Harry Maguire's best performances in the shirt despite Luke Shaw being rewarded as MOTM. Mason Greenwood didn't score but did everything else you would expect from a centre-forward.

This is the start of a tricky week for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Will be answer the next round of questions coming his way?

United have two cup games before the international break and the Norwegian needs to win a trophy.

Moyes still only has 7 wins at Old Trafford in his whole career, including wins as Manchester United manager.
Moyes carries on his proud tradition of having never won as a visiting manager to Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal - 19 years as a PL manager

Manchester United are going about their Round of 16 Europa League tie the hard way after conceding late into stoppage time against AC Milan on Thursday night. Dale and Mike are here to dissect a dull night for Ole’s Reds on the 103rd episode of the Strettycast.

We discuss AC Milan’s fall from grace and current rise to prominence – quite similar in terms of on-pitch results at Old Trafford post-Ferguson – as we agree that they’re one of the biggest clubs in the world going through a transition.

I highly doubt our listens will be comforted by the news of Avram Glazer’s latest business move.

It gets a little heated on the podcast over Donny van de Beek.

Episode 101 - Update on United's search for a director of football Feb 20, 2021

Manchester United have identified Juventus’ chief scout Matteo Tognozzi as a possible candidate to become the club’s sporting director, according to Stretty News reporter Leah Smith.

Tognozzi became Juventus’ chief scout in 2017 following successful recruitment roles at Zenit St.Petersburg, Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg. The highly-rated scout is regarded as one of Europe’s most pioneering recruitment specialists.

Dale catches up with Leah for a quick chat about her story, the meaning behind out and to settle some inaccuracies surfacing on social media and one particular fan channel.

A director of football has long been on the agenda for Manchester United. Will the situation at the club change with an appointment?

Dale stresses his fears about the Glazer ownership again and doesn't think Tognozzi, should he be appointed, will have much leg room to do his job as he'd like to.

Episode 99 - Uninspiring trip to West Bom Feb 15, 2021

Mike is busy this week and will return on Friday, so Dale was joined by Stretty News writer Philip.

They discussed United being complacent against another side in the lower half of the Premier League table. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dismissed claims there's an attitude problem in the dressing room, but how else can we explain such complacency. These players are better than this and not long ago they were on a winning run that saw them at the top of the league.

Solskjaer needs to get back to winning football matches again. Bruno Fernandes needs to start performing again. Marcus Rashford and needs to start scoring again. Mason Greenwood needs a run in the team.

So, another disappointing result for the Red Devils. Not good enough again.
