This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist came ready to talk about seed oils. She did not expect the conversation to turn into a debate about protein powders.

Dr. Cate Shanahan, a family physician and author of Dark Calories and Deep Nutrition, joins Kerstin to explain her approach to food and why she questions common nutrition advice. They discuss her views on cholesterol, the eight refined oils she avoids, the fats she uses for cooking, and the role of sugar and flour in her framework.

Then comes the question that catches Kerstin off guard: Where do protein powders fit? Dr. Cate shares her concerns and acknowledges gaps in the research. Kerstin asks for balance, including what happens when someone struggles to get enough protein from food. They also discuss why Dr. Cate views collagen and bone broth powders differently.

This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with QVC fashion designer Renée Greenstein, founder of Women with Control and Attitudes by Renée, for an honest conversation about faith, confidence and the health scare that changed her priorities.

After nearly 20 years of living with diverticulitis, Renée describes worsening symptoms, repeat hospital visits and being told she could have died. She opens up about her fear of surgery, having part of her colon removed and taking four months away from QVC to recover. For the first time, she was ready to put her health before her career, even if it meant losing the work she loved.

Renée also shares her Jewish faith, family traditions and approach to aging after revealing that she is 75. She and Kerstin discuss body confidence, asking for help and learning that your worth is not tied to your appearance or how much you get done.

Behind the scenes, Renée looks back on building Women with Control, the pressure of running a fashion business and how handing over manufacturing responsibilities helped her finally enjoy time off. She shares the breathing, walking and boundaries that helped her slow down, along with her love of travel, cooking and home renovation.

Kerstin Lindquist welcomes back Dr. Ben Edwards, founder of Veritas and host of You’re the Cure, for an honest conversation about faith, fear, identity, measles and finding peace when life feels uncertain. They explore his four pillars of health—peace, movement, hydration and nutrition—and why he now puts peace first.

Ben shares how public criticism and the pressure of his work have challenged his trust in God. He reflects on separating his identity from his medical title, recognizing people-pleasing and being honest about fear rather than pretending it is not there. He also explains how putting peace first changed the way he thought about helping people care for their health.

He and Kerstin discuss learning to hear God through quiet time, prayer and journaling. Drawing on ideas from Jamie Winship, Ben explains how he notices thoughts rooted in fear, scarcity and division, then brings those thoughts into conversation with God. They explore negative self-talk, letting go of pride and remembering that your value is not defined by your work or other people’s approval.

Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Will Cole, functional medicine practitioner, author and host of The Art of Being Well, for an honest conversation about burnout, grief, gut health and finding a way forward when doing everything right no longer feels like enough. They explore the personal experiences behind Heal Your Cells, his book with Dr. Josh Axe, and why Will believes caring for your health means making room for your emotional and spiritual life, too.

Will shares how his father’s sudden death came during years of nonstop work, a book launch and a wave of public criticism following his podcast conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow. He reflects on the anxiety, digestive symptoms and disrupted sleep that followed, and the difficult realization that loving your work does not protect you from burnout.

He and Kerstin discuss what it feels like to be told your labs are normal when you still don’t feel well. Will explains his approach to looking beyond routine results and shares his perspective on the connections between unresolved trauma, the nervous system and physical symptoms. They also discuss food, environmental exposures and why he believes a health plan needs to consider more than diet and exercise.

The conversation then turns to the tools Will explored in his own recovery, including nourishing meals, journaling, EMDR, vagus nerve stimulation and peptides. He shares why meeting people where they are matters and why trying to change everything at once can feel overwhelming. Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dan Wheeler, former QVC host, author and co-founder of Fearless Faith, for an honest conversation about caregiving, losing a spouse, trusting God and finding love again. The longtime friends revisit their QVC years, including unforgettable moments with 50 Cent and Willie Nelson, before opening up about the experiences that changed Dan’s life.

Dan shares how his wife Beth’s stage four cancer diagnosis shifted his priorities from work to being present with her. He reflects on three years of caregiving, the pressure of putting on a happy face on live television and the grief of watching the world keep moving after his own had stopped.

He and Kerstin discuss asking for help, accepting support from friends and family, and finding comfort in prayer and Scripture. Dan recalls moments he believes were reminders that God had not forgotten him, and explains why the hardest years of his life were also some of the most meaningful years of his marriage.

Dr. Peter McCullough on Alzheimer’s, Cancer—and the Health Questions Dividing America Sep 09, 2026

This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Peter A. McCullough, an internist, cardiologist and epidemiologist, for a wide-ranging conversation about Alzheimer’s risk, cancer detection, obesity, COVID-19, vaccines and the daily choices he believes can protect long-term health. Kerstin begins with a clear disclaimer: several of his positions are controversial, and her goal is to help listeners hear another perspective, ask questions and speak with their own doctors.

Dr. McCullough explains why Alzheimer’s is personal. His father died with the disease, his mother is currently living with it, and he is focused on protecting his own cognition. He discusses body weight, alcohol, outdoor movement, ApoE genetics, newer blood testing and the choices people may make when they better understand their risk.

Kerstin and Dr. McCullough also examine inherited cancer risk, whole-body MRI, blood-based cancer testing and why standard screening such as colonoscopy still matters. The conversation then moves into his views on the pandemic, COVID-19 vaccination, routine childhood vaccination, nasal sprays, gargling and public trust in medicine.

The episode closes with where he finds hope and the health practices he considers non-negotiable: food quality, portion control, aerobic and strength training, time outside, sleep and avoiding alcohol. He also explains why he encourages some patients to try 90 alcohol-free days and observe what happens to their sleep.

She also shares why she chose to spend three months completely cut off from her family, phone, internet, news, and social media for Greg Gutfeld’s What Did I Miss?

That experience forced Nancy to confront control, fear, family responsibilities, and her identity outside of being a wife, mother, and caretaker. Surprisingly, she found more peace in isolation than she expected—and more stress when it was time to return to normal life.
