SB 057 - "For Butter or Worse," by Erin La Rosa (feat. Erin La Rosa) Oct 31, 2022

Show notes

Everyone likes cooking shows but what if they were even steamier ... BECAUSE OF LOVE-MAKING?!!! It's a question we've all asked ourselves, but only one person had the talent and the vision to make it come true. This week, we're joined by special guest Erin La Rosa to talk about love, cooking, and — surprising pretty much everyone — Ninja Turtles.

SB 056 - "Singin' in the Rain!" Oct 24, 2022

Show notes

The era of silent podcasting is over, so you can finally hear our beautiful singing voices — and what a perfect movie to debut them with. There's not as much rain as you might think in this film, but there is plenty of singin'!

SB 055 - "Mamma Mia!" Oct 10, 2022

Show notes

This movie has everything: Meryl, Remington Steele, Mr. Darcy, Dad from Thor, and — somewhat confusingly — a big, fat Greek wedding. But as perfect as it is, that doesn't mean the boys can't find a way to improve on it ... if they can only find someone with the capital to make their musical dreams a reality.

SB 054 - "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" Oct 03, 2022

Show notes

In the Year of Our Lord 2002, it was decreed throughout the land that every man, woman, and child of sound health and mind should — on a day of their choosing — go unto the theatre and bear witness with their own eyes to the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Now, 20 years after this beautiful display of international solidarity, the mandate has been long abandoned. But some few still remember. We remember.

SB 053 - "Fever Pitches" Sep 26, 2022

Show notes

Two films about some guys, some pitches, and a love affair with a nice lady and 11 or more sports boys who are based between 2 and 60 miles south of Cambridge. Other than that, they're actually quite different, so it's EXTREMELY important that you watch them in the correct order.

SB 052 - "An Officer and a Gentleman," directed by Taylor Hackford Sep 19, 2022

Show notes

A movie about how fabulously nice it would be if somebody came and picked you up at work. Literally. This one was sadder than we expected, but Richard Gere looks great in those dress whites!

SB 051 - "Moonstruck," directed by Norman Jewison Sep 12, 2022

Show notes

It's almost impossible to imagine a more perfect concept for a film than a completely feral Nicolas Cage yelling a lot and then falling in love with Cher. The boys discuss this '80s classic and try with very limited success to remember what Little Red Riding Hood is about.

SB 049 - "Shakespeare in Love," directed by John Madden Aug 29, 2022

Show notes

This week, a movie that asks a question that's been on everybody's mind since the Elizabethan times: What if Shakespeare fell in love with Goop, from Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop? The boys endeavor to answer this while keeping the conversation high-mindedly focused on the underdiscussed influence of Jacobean Revenge Tragedy on modern cinema.
