SB 066 - "Singles" (feat. Matthew Perpetua) Jan 09, 2023

Show notes

It's something a little bit different this week, as the boys bring on music writer Matthew Perpetua to talk about the iconic soundtrack of the 1992 Cameron Crowe film "Singles" and do a little light roleplay about everyone's favorite time-traveling movie critic from the dystopian future.

SB 065 - "Bridget Jones's diary" Jan 02, 2023

Show notes

"Snow exposes complacently a complete ignorance," says F.R. Leavis in his 1962 lecture on C.P. Snow's "Two Cultures." "The judgement I have to come out with is that not only is he not a genius; he is intellectually as undistinguished as it is possible to be." The boys discuss this devastating moment in literary history and also enjoy a bit of banter about how handsome Hugh Grant is in this movie we watched.

SB 059, "A Rogue of One's Own," by Evie Dumore (feat. Marissa Flaxbart) Nov 14, 2022

Show notes

We’re joined by Marissa Flaxbart this week and she brought a scintillating piece of literature along with her to discuss: Star Wars “Rogue One!” Sorry, I'm just learning that it was Evie Dunmore’s “A Rogue of One's Own” we discussed and not Star Wars at all. The book had all the hallmarks of a great romance: spider sex, abandoned values, and large, non-iridescent genitals. What more could you possibly want from us?

If you want more Marissa Flaxbart in your life, check out Maximum Fun’s Feeling Seen and her own podcast, The Sweet Valley Diaries. And don’t forget to sign up for her newsletter!

SB 058 - "Can't Hardly Wait" Nov 07, 2022

Show notes

Don't waste our flavor because we're coming in hot and heavy with some sizzling hot takes about the scintillating masterpiece that paved the way for American Pie. For instance, did you know that a lot of the people in this movie were also in "Six Feet Under"? Wow.
