    Stay Through the Credits

We’re Dan and Julia, and we cannot watch a movie without arguing about it.

Stay Through the Credits is what happens when two people with very different taste share one couch (or one mic). One of us cries at everything. One of us says “it’s fine, it’s just a movie” and then thinks about it for three days. Guess which is which.

Every week we talk about the films and shows we can’t stop thinking about: the masterpieces, the guilty pleasures, the endings that ruined our night, and the hidden gems we’ll bully you into watching.

No film-school gatekeeping. No pretending we liked the boring one.

Overcompensating: Horny, Heartfelt & Too Old for Freshman Year May 16, 2025
    Show notes

We got to watch Benito Skinner’s Overcompensating — Amazon’s new college comedy that’s equal parts sex, self-discovery, and Ashlee Simpson nostalgia. We break down what works, what’s messy, and why it still hits (even if the cast is clearly pushing 30). Think Sex Lives of College Girls with more Glee references and a lot more chaos.

Set in the heart of Stalin’s terror, this quietly brutal film follows a young idealist swallowed by the Soviet machine. From blood-stained notes to vanished bodies, we explore how Loznitsa turns silence, structure, and stillness into tools of resistance — and why this might be his most powerful work yet.

Tune in for a reflection on inherited pain, the poetics of self-erasure, and why this ghostly stunner might be one of the most quietly powerful films of the year.

Murderbot, Leave Me Alone to Watch My Shows May 14, 2025
    Show notes

Alexander Skarsgård stars as a killer robot just trying to binge in peace in Apple TV+’s Murderbot. We break down how the adaptation of Martha Wells’ cult sci-fi novels blends deadpan comedy, sharp social critique, and a surprisingly tender core—plus why Skarsgård’s emotionally off-kilter vibe makes him perfect for the role.
