    Sith; the REAL Legacy – SWBTF #92 (Part 2 of 2) Oct 04, 2013
    Show notes

A Sith rebellion, Imperial Knights rebelling against their Empire, and Ania Solo caught in the middle, and more, all on the next Star Wars Beyond the Films. YOUR Star Wars discussion podcast! YOUR ticket to the EU!

This week true believers, Beyonders, Fanboys, Fangirls, respected aliens around the galaxy, The Defender of the EU; Mark Hurliman, and your EU Guru; Nathan P. Butler, sit down to continue their discussion of Dark Horse Comics Star Wars: Legacy Vol. 2 Prisoner of the Floating World by Corrina Bechko and Gabriel Hardman. Strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!

Last week’s discussion was so in depth that the hosts decided it would best be served split into two separate episodes. How did the characters in this story fair? How did the hosts feel the art was best served? And what did Shelly Shapiro have to say about the films and “A NEW Continuity“?

Sometimes the art style feels newspaper serial-like. And yet other times there is so little in the way of detail that the continuity of the story can break a little from scene to scene. How? You ask; Nathan has a few examples for you.

They not only discuss each individual cover, they also discussed the variants, and the first issue of the next arc. As well as the lack of titles and now many issues make up an arc. Details the single issue covers seem to have dropped suddenly.

Which covers did the host really like? And while the hosts have been a little negative on the art stylization from time to time, they also acknowledge that with ANY Star Wars project you will have fans in all camps over things like art, characterization, plot, and so forth. And while the art might have been found lacking in detail at times, both hosts enjoyed the story over all. So how does this all contrast for them in the end? Did they love it? Hate it? Something else?To find out more, you’ll need to listen ALL THE WAY THROUGH! Once again, your dynamic duo cover entirely too much Sith scheming action in their ONE hour, but don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on the EU while you’re at it. But no matter how you slice it and dice it, you’ll be having another adventure Beyond the Films. So sit back, hang on, enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!

    Darth Vader and the 9th Assassin – SWBTF #90 Sep 21, 2013
    Show notes

Darth Vader, Assassin’s, and more, all on the next Star Wars Beyond the Films. YOUR Star Wars discussion podcast! YOUR ticket to the EU!

This week true believers, Beyonders, Fanboys, Fangirls, respected aliens around the galaxy, The Defender of the EU; Mark Hurliman, and your EU Guru; Nathan P. Butler, sit down to discuss Dark Horse Comics Star Wars: Darth Vader and the 9th Assassin by Tim Siedell. Strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!

This week’s episode also starts out SPOILER-FREE for the first 15 minutes. Listen for the “Tarkin’s Arrogance” Que to jump to hypserspace!

Jumping right in, Nathan Ponders what comic series he read, because it couldn’t have been the same one that other sites gave glowing reviews and a perfect score, could it?

“The depth of the storytelling, both visually and through the dialog and narration, is just perfect.” –Roqoo Depot

“I’m going to genuinely miss Tim Sidell’s corner of the Star Wars universe because it is some of the best storytelling the franchise has ever had. That’s right, ever and I’m including the films in there as well.–Comic Bastards

And while the series STARTS OUT strong, and even gives us moments of epicness-promised-to-come, and Vader as a Rock and Roll GOD…

…and a throw-back to a more Night-Sister’esque style use of the Force, and Magic.

But Vader’s chance to shine is loud and clear, as is the fact that Vader was once Anakin Skywalker. We get cool looking new species…

And more, but how do we go from such a strong lead to the opinion of your hosts?

Darth Vader and the no named cast... -MH
Darth Vader and the Lack of Plot. -NPB

To find out you’ll need to listen ALL THE WAY THROUGH! Once again, your dynamic duo cover entirely too much people trying to kill Darth Vader action in their ONE hour, but don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on the EU while you’re at it. Reaching Back – SWBTF #84 Aug 08, 2013
    Show notes

No, he was your Father, Force Ghost Yoda, and more, all on the next Star Wars Beyond the Films. YOUR Star Wars discussion podcast! YOUR ticket to the EU!

This week true believers, Beyonders, Fanboys, Fangirls, respected aliens around the galaxy, The Defender of the EU; Mark Hurliman, and your EU Guru; Nathan P. Butler, sit down to respond to your feedback! Strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!

The guys respond to Beyonders Josh and his Daughter, This inspires both hosts to share the relationships they both have with their Fathers.

    They also hear from Beyonders;

Andrew Gilbertson, about Ryder Wyndam, Yoda’s Force Ghost, and Jedi death disappearances.

From Kenneth Brinkley they explore the X-Wing mini game by Fantasy Flight, as well as the details of the models

Beyonder Greg Evans is looking for Star Wars in all the EU places, and the guys help him narrow his focus a bit as he ventures into the deep end of the Galaxy Far Far away. He also gets the guys Pondering what their ‘biggest continuity frustration that has still yet to be resolved, or just won’t be resolved’ is.

Beyonder Sandro George asks about the switch to digital, and the constant ponder about making the jump.

Ever faithful Beyonder Jazz Rathore writes in to express his feeling of overwhelming EU action, and the daunting task that is “being up to date” in the EU.

John Baldi ponders if either host has ever read any of the Honor Harrington novels. Because that Sci-Fi series features polygamy as a recurring plot point (except among Humans in a Mormon-like religion instead of among aliens) much like Prelude to Rebellion did with the Cerean species.

From Skyler comes ideas about future episodes like focusing on continuity conflicts that arise from the clone wars, or other newer works.

Beyonder Frank Tesch writes in to ask what are the best ways to get the content for the RPG world now that Wizards of the Coast run has come to and end.
