Can't Picardly Wait: The Impossible Boxes We Put Ourselves In (Picard S1E06) Mar 02, 2020

Show notes

Does Star Trek: Picard put itself in an impossible situation? How much of past Trek is necessary just to know what's going on, and does the show provide any of what older fans want from their Star Trek? Picard revisits a Borg cube and we're revisited by figures from our past. Does this podcast do the same? Providing what its creators want, but not what the fans crave? Oh well.

A full crew complement! Benny Scheckner and Kristin from Montreal (formerly from Toronto) join the podcast this week. Finally, another person who knows Trek, and a person who somehow knows less than even Sean. What the heck, Benny?

Can't Picardly Wait: Brutally Stardust City Dragging Each Other (Picard S1E05) Feb 24, 2020

Show notes

This episode caused a lot of commotion. Is this the 7 of 9 show or Picard? Who is Icheb and does it matter to anyone who wasn't a fan of Voyager? Is the opening a bad thing to watch with your mom? Easter eggs are discussed. Glen has some questions about the economics of Borg reclamation, and Sean is having none of it.

Can't Picardly Wait: Speaking with Absolute Candor (Picard S1E04) Feb 17, 2020

Show notes

Picard needs to make amends with some battle nuns and a boy he left behind. We don't hold anything back in our feelings about the show.

Can't Picardly Wait: Every Borg Beginning Comes from Some Other Borg Beginning's End (Picard S1E03) Feb 10, 2020

Show notes

I, Borg? This whole podcast is Borg!

Sean doesn't really know anything about the Borg, so this episode was a little... confusing for him.

Wade is in the goldilocks zone of liking this episode.

Glen is still on a journey of discovery, but not Discovery. Just Trek.

Can't Picardly Wait: Maps and Legends and Being Bad at Fandom (Picard S1E02) Feb 03, 2020

Show notes

Breaking down the episode or having a breakdown? Wade doesn't want to get caught up in being a fan, yet gets mad at minutiae. Sean doesn't know to get mad at anything. So he doesn't. Glen is really committed to being the ultimate Star Trek fan and getting his percentages up.

Can't Picardly Wait: How to Have the Right Opinions on the Picard Premiere Jan 27, 2020

Show notes

In this confusing IP obsessed media landscape - where it's hard to get definitive answers regarding the peculiarities of art - Wade Bowen, Sean Perrotta, Glen Hall, and Benny Scheckner give you the correct nuanced opinions on whether Star Trek: Picard is a good show, as based on the first episode.

Benny is asking you to troll him, please: https://twitter.com/BennyScheckner

Thanks again to Sean and Chris Galluci for the theme song, and apologies to The Replacements.

Echoing in the Void: Companion Epilogues pt 3 May 07, 2019

Show notes

May it be that Disco Home Season 2 is finally over?

Lane and Courtney are nervous. Will Discovery stay in the future?

Let's talk about the romance. This show's characters can't even talk between themselves about their relationships without one being in a coma.

Dream plots and Klingon gods.

And finally, Wade receives final thoughts on Discovery Season 2 from Stefan in the Netherlands. And two guys who didn't watch the show have a few questions.
