The Can't Picardly Waiting Is Over (Picard S3E09-10) May 03, 2023

It's finally over. Is this an over indulgent finale? Does the fan service hold up? We think it's worth your time to indulge in 90s nostaligia, of Canadian sketch comedy and Star Trek alike. Mostly Star Trek, if we're being honest.

Hard talk about whether the finale of Star Trek Picard held up.

Plus Rod Torfulson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuck (We're gonna make it).

Can't Picardly, Waiting on the Edge (Picard S3E07-08) Apr 14, 2023

Show notes

Only two more episodes left, and we're podcasting on the edge of release. We don't know what the deal is with Jack Crusher, but maybe you've watched episode nine and know. Whole lot to go over in this one.

Also, we're filthy. Be happy with the what got cut.

Imposters on the Bounty (Picard S3E05-06) Mar 29, 2023

Regrets. I've had a few. Has Picard? We watched two episode of a Star Trek show and had positive and negative reactions. What kind of references worked well and which felt unsatisfying? Can a viewer who knows nothing about Trek have an emotional reaction to a callback to a show from 30 years ago? Turns out it's all in how you use it.

[*editors note: Horatio Hornblower. He knows]

I Can Wait I Can't Picardly Wait (Picard S3E03-04) Mar 16, 2023

Show notes

Have the wrongs of the past been repaired? What is this about a Dominion War? How does technobabble supplement melodrama? Wade is too excited for all the ways the show has fixed his problems. Glen is still reeling from the pain of what's come before and is not quite ready to trust again. Sean is down for it.

The Heel of Time Mar 01, 2022

Show notes

We take a break from Star Trek because Glen really needed this.

Enjoy some minor key fantasy tinklings and listen to a Robert Jordan superfan, a guy who never finished the books, and a guy we made watch a TV show tear into Amazon's Wheel of Time.

We didn't have constitution or class to talk about every espisode of Star Trek Discovery season 4, but we have to come clean on how our feelings have changed. For those who disagreed with us in the past ... you're welcome.

Under the Bridge: Over the Moons (Lower Decks S2E09-10) Oct 19, 2021

Show notes

Is this one of the best season enders of Star Trek? Does episodic tv have something to teach all those overly serialized prestige dramas?

"wej Duj" and "First First Contact" show that the show can do more than just reference comedy. So we talk all about those, as well as...

We are so mad at Glen for not watching Cheers

Federation News Service Alert about the Ferengi. U mad bro?
