Zelia Edgar brings us back to September of 1954. On a quiet farm in Alabama, 12-year-old John Jacob Swaim was running a tractor across his family’s fields when something caught his eye. Standing in the wheat was a small, unnerving figure — a strange entity with pointed ears and a sharp nose, crouched down, silently watching him.
In this episode, we explore one of the most chilling and overlooked encounters of the 1950s UFO wave. Was Swaim’s “Watcher in the Wheat” an alien, a folkloric trickster, or something far stranger? Join us as we peel back the layers of this eerie case and examine how it fits into the larger history of high-strangeness encounters.
If you enjoy stories of UFOs, close encounters, and strange beings in unexpected places, this episode is one you won’t want to miss.

It’s a crossover you don’t want to miss! In this special episode, Somewhere in the Skies teams up with Gods, Ghosts, and UFOs for a wide-ranging conversation on UFOs, cryptids, and the unexplained. From Ryan’s dramatic black triangle UFO sighting as a kid, to the latest UAP Congressional Hearing and the controversial Hellfire missile video, we explore the mysteries that continue to challenge our understanding of reality. At the heart of it all, we reflect on disclosure, witness testimony, and why sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is live with the mystery.

In June of 1952, a young man was walking home from a movie late at night. Suddenly, he heard weird music and singing on the other side of a creek. As he looked to see who was producing these strange melodies, his attention was captured by a series of bright lights on the ground. What happened next would shock him beyond belief.

Nearly fifty years after one of the most famous alien abduction cases in history, Travis Walton joins us to reflect on his extraordinary experience. In 1975, Travis disappeared for five days after a mysterious encounter in the Arizona woods — an event witnessed by six of his coworkers and later dramatized in the Hollywood film Fire in the Sky. Now, half a century later, Travis shares where he stands on that life-altering event, how it shaped his life, and what he believes it means today in the larger UFO conversation.
We’re also joined by filmmaker Jennifer Stein, director of the award-winning documentary Travis: The True Story of Travis Walton, who takes us behind the scenes of her research and why this case continues to resonate with believers, skeptics, and UFO investigators around the world.
From the beam of light in the forest to the ongoing debates about truth, trauma, and extraterrestrial contact — this is the definitive conversation on the Travis Walton case, fifty years on.
