Chris Wilson on Men and Body Image Nov 11, 2019
    Show notes

Men are increasingly concerned about their body ideals, and yet, society generally minimizes these concerns or doesn’t acknowledge them.

We have a society of men who feel unable to speak up about these concerns and often sit with it, which causes them to have emotional distress which can result in depression, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and health issues related to excessive exercise and rigid food consumption. Listen as Joe and Pennsylvanian therapist Chris Wilson, chat about the emotional distress men can experience with the pressures on them to have the ‘perfect’ body, and how social media and celebrities play their part in men’s body image dysmorphia. For men’s mental health, “we need to break this code of silence men have on talking about their bodies,” says Chris.

Tina Schermer Sellers on Why Sex Is Better Without Shame Nov 04, 2019
    Show notes

Our sex stories are one of the most important stories one needs to be clear about,” says this week’s guest, Dr. Tina Schermer Sellers. Clinical Sexologist, Tina, believes that our sex history is not a cohesive narrative in most of us, but it needs to be to lead a sex life that is free of shame. Hear Joe and Tina discuss how religious sexual shame is the earliest and greatest form of shame, affecting a person’s core belief in their worthiness to be accepted by those who mean the most to them. And how sex and bias education is what equips us to stand up to sexual shame.

Do you have to be a top, or a bottom? If you’re a ‘side,’ is it still sex? What if you just like pegging? As Jess says, “If you have an orgasm, it’s sex!”

Jacob Rostovsky on Transgender Issues Oct 21, 2019
    Show notes

“When you’re born in the wrong gender, your gender changes, not necessarily your sexuality,” says this week’s guest, transgender activist, Jacob Rostovsky. Jacob, who came out at 13 years old as trans, has been fighting for transgender rights, acceptance and access to affirmative care ever since. Jacob believes there is no one way to be trans, especially when it comes to exploring someone’s transgender and sexual identity. Hear Joe and Jacob talk about trans sex and sexuality – it’s less complicated than you think, and why gender expression is what you go to bed wearing, rather than who you are with.”

Jim tells Joe how he didn’t come out to his parents until he was 39-years-old. What has gay life been like for Jim? What changes has he seen in the community?
