    She’s Talkin’ Money

You make good money. You save. You contribute to retirement. On paper, you are doing well. So why do you still feel unsure whether you are making the right decisions with your money?

She’s Talkin’ Money is the personal finance podcast for women who have outgrown basic budgeting advice and want more clarity about what comes next.

Hosted by financial planner and money expert Shari Rash, the show helps you understand how to put your money to work through smarter investing, retirement planning, saving, tax strategy, and intentional spending.

You will also hear honest conversations about the emotional side of money: fear, guilt, comparison, financial independence, over-saving, and why earning more does not always make you feel more secure.

Expect practical solo episodes, expert conversations, and real money questions designed to help you stop second-guessing yourself and start making financial decisions with more confidence.

Because doing well on paper should feel good in real life, too.

Previously known as Everyone’s Talkin’ Money.

Ask Shannah: 7 Ways to Stay Focused on Your Money Goals Feb 24, 2023
    Show notes

In this Shannah Shares, Community Q&A episode, I'm sharing the 7 ways to stay focused on your money goals inspired by a question form Amanda:

"I love your podcast and have been listening for over a year now being inspired and working towards my goals. Maybe my question isn't really a question, but more like a request for a pep talk. I have 4 main money goals that I've been slowly working towards Paying off my student loans, saving 4 months of expenses in my emergency fund, saving $3,000 in a what I like to call an "oh shit fund" (I can access this savings account much quicker than my emergency fund), and finally saving for a house. For the past 6 years, I've been laser-focused on paying off my student loans, but because of the pandemic, I decided to shift my focus on hitting my emergency fund goal. Recently, however, I've been struggling with staying focused on achieving the emergency fund goal. I now have only $9,000 left to go of my student loans and I'm also only 3 months away from hitting my emergency fund goal, but now I'm getting the urge to use basically all of my emergency fund money to pay off my student loans now. I know if I did this, I would feel AWESOME but know I would feel anxious knowing I had no emergency fund to fall back on. Do you have any suggestions for staying focused on one goal before making a rash decision and jumping to another goal? I know these are all good problems to have, but I would really love some words of encouragement or advice on how to stay focused on my current goal."

6 Money Decisions You Should Make After You Say I Do Feb 15, 2023
    Show notes

When you get married, you want to start your shared life together on the right financial foot. Most people are so involved with wedding planning that they put off having necessary money conversations that always arise after you tie the knot, and those often lead to fights and relationship breakdowns. If I’m honest, even as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, I still had some money fears after saying “I Do.” Based on my years working as a financial planner (AKA a marriage financial therapist) and personal experience, there are six major money decisions to make after you get married.

Why Am I Never Left With Any Money Each Month Feb 10, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode, I'm featuring a Budget Rescue with Robert who asks:

"Hi Shannah, thanks for taking the time to answer my question. BTW I love the new name of the show. This is one of the only places I feel like we can listen to all different types of conversations and you always surprise me with the topics. It’s so cool. I’m writing to see if you would give me some insights into my monthly budget. Here’s my snapshot - I make around $5K per month and have a fairly stable job, at least I think so. I know that I should have around $350 - $500 a month left over but the problem is that I don’t each month and I can’t figure out why. You’re super good at helping people with their budgets so I was wondering if you could give me some pointers and thoughts on what I might be missing or not including here. I’d like to be able to save some money for my ER fund every month and put some into a travel savings account. Thanks again for this show…it’s helped me so much."
