Kamala Jones: Fibroids—The Secret Women Don't Share Jul 26, 2021
    Show notes

Kamala Jones and Brianne Davis share their stories and struggle with fibroids and major surgery. Something that is very common, but rarely talked about. The National Institutes of Health estimates that 80% of all women will develop uterine fibroids at some point during their lives. Because many women don't experience any symptoms, it's possible the incidence of uterine fibroids is even higher. Fibroids are considered benign or noncancerous but can make life painful.

Kamala Jones is a sitcom actress and acrylic artist living between Scottsdale and Los Angeles.

Danielle Harris: I Was Addicted to Bad Relationships Jul 12, 2021
    Show notes

Acting for television and movies since the age of six, Danielle Harris became a parentified child after her father died when she was just seven. With no male role models in her life, Danielle found herself in an uncontrollable and self-destructive pattern of unhealthy relationships.

As she struggled with issues surrounding sex and love addiction, she attended 12-step meetings for a while and ultimately found solace, happiness, and a healthy relationship with the help of her long-time therapist.

Danielle and Brianne break down some of the old behaviors and new ways of taking care of themselves as actresses, directors, wives, and mothers.

Danielle Harris is an American actress and film director. She is known as a "scream queen" for her roles in multiple horror films,[2] including four entries in the Halloween franchise (Halloween 4 and 5; 1988–89) as Jamie Lloyd, and the Halloween remake and its sequel as Annie Brackett (2007–09). Other such roles include Tosh in Urban Legend (1998), Belle in Stake Land (2010), and Marybeth Dunston in the Hatchet series (2010–17). In 2012, she was inducted into the Fangoria Hall of Fame.

Harris began her career as a child actress, with various appearances on television and prominent roles in films such as Marked for Death (1990), Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991), The Last Boy Scout (1991), Free Willy (1993) and Daylight (1996). She is also known for her voice work, which includes playing Debbie Thornberry for the full run of the Nickelodeon series The Wild Thornberrys (1998–2004) and in the related films The Wild Thornberrys Movie (2002) and Rugrats Go Wild (2003).

In 2013, Harris made her feature directorial debut with the horror film Among Friends, after previously directing Madison (a segment in the unfinished anthology filmPrank) in 2008 and a Stake Land companion short film in 2010.

JUNE IS LGBT PRIDE MONTH - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) Americans. In June of 1969, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City staged an uprising to resist the police harassment and persecution to which LGBT Americans were commonly subjected. This uprising marks the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBT Americans.

Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, and LGBT Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that LGBTQ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.

Federal and local policies and practices are increasingly acknowledging and focusing on LGBTQ youth and numerous national advocacy and other organizations are also giving greater attention to LGBTQ youth in their work. Encouraging greater acceptance and support for all youth, including those who are or are perceived to be LGBTQ, will make communities, schools, and other settings safer, better places for all youth.

Leah: Suicidal Ideation: Postpartum Bipolar Disorder May 31, 2021
    Show notes

Postpartum bipolar disorder, the mood disorder Leah was diagnosed with, is virtually unheard of. Postpartum bipolar is also known as bipolar, peripartum onset, and it's arguably the least known of the six postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.

*Trigger Warning: Please note that this episode contains topics of suicide and sexual abuse. Some people may find it disturbing.

Most people who suffer from Bipolar Disorder tend to experience both the highs and lows. But Leah only experienced the high, manic side. Behaviors like being hyper-sexual, flirting, cheating, overworking, barely sleeping, and overcommitting herself were common issues that plagued her life. Shortly after her child's birth, she found herself uncontrollably acting out. She was put on medication for depression, which only made matters worse. And ultimately found herself contemplating suicide. Being appropriately diagnosed with bipolar disorder can be very difficult.

Leah still struggles with the guilt for putting those she loves through so much pain but continues to remind herself that she is not this disorder; instead, she just has this disorder. It isn't the only thing that defines her anymore. Reaching out and asking for help was the most significant step she could take for herself.

If you are someone you know is struggling with postpartum depression, there may be other factors involved. Please reach out to the following organizations for support:

IGNTD: Dr. Adi Jaffe has been helping people beat their addiction differently since the days of his own struggles. Through his research, clinical work and his own treatment center, he has brought his unique approach to thousands who could afford and make the time to see him. But finally, through IGNTD, Dr. Jaffe is able to bring this revolution to the broader world and allow ANYONE who is struggling with drugs, alcohol, sex, food or compulsive habits to get REAL change from the comfort of their own home.

It's Not About The Drugs or Alcohol or sex or food...

IGNTD Recovery does away with the notion that people with these problems are all helpless alcoholics or addicts who are doomed to a life of suffering. Throwing away the silly (and unsupported by research) notion that ANYONE who needs help must commit to lifelong abstinence from everything, IGNTD Recovery gets to the core of the problem in a nonjudgmental, convenient and affordable way that has NEVER before been available. So if you, or someone else you know, needs to make a change, let us ignite you!

Finally, A Program That Fits Your Schedule and your life and offers help without asking you to give up your life.

Overcoming an Addiction to Negative Thinking & Tics May 24, 2021
    Show notes

As a successful actor in tv and film, having a tic could easily be seen as a significant challenge. After suffering decades of shame for an undiagnosed "bad habit", Jack eventually found a way to control it and the addiction to negative thinking that went along with it.
