Seahawks Draft Targets: Shrine Bowl and Draft Analysis with EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football Feb 07, 2023

Show notes

EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football is back on the show this week as we talk about the East-West Shrine Bowl stand outs and which players should be on the radar of Seahawks fans. One player in particular who stood out was wide receiver Zay Flowers, who turned heads immediately and could now be a first round pick.

What should the Seahawks do with their top 5 pick? The Bears are widely believed to be trading out of the top spot. Should Seattle make a move for quarterback or the top defensive player? Or should they simply stay put and hope for chaos at the top of the draft and that one of the top two defensive players falls to that fifth spot? EJ offers his thoughts on the Seahawks draft position and how it relates to Geno Smith.

399: Improving the defense is key to the 2023 offseason Jan 27, 2023

Show notes

As we put a bow on the 2022 season for the Seahawks, we talk about some of the milestones the team hit and the excitement for the future considering the rookies that showed potential. But will Geno Smith be a part of the Seahawks future? Should he be part of the future if the team's goal is to win a Super Bowl sometime in the next three years.

We take a look at the data in what successful teams have done in recent years and found that drafting a quarterback in the top 10 is a much bigger risk than drafting a defensive player in that same range. Plus, it has generally taken a top defense in points allowed to make a deep run into the postseason.

With free agency a topic to discuss over the next few weeks, we take our first look at the players who would be key for Seattle to re-sign and which ones could walk. There's one player in particular the Seahawks could go after if they wanted to make a big splash in free agency (if that player is available. But it would also be fun if they traded for another future first rounder to give us another team that we could cheer for their demise.

To close the show, a former Seahawks player and the Panini trading card company get called out to Do Better. Finally, the latest space effort and the fundraising drive by our Flock get the Better at Life honors.

Show notes

The Seahawks head coach was at the podium this week to reflect on some of the problems with the 2022 season and look ahead to the 2023 offseason. Was a change to the defensive scheme to blame? Or will they need to add competition on the line to create problems for opponents next year. With a top 5 draft pick, Carroll also addresses the idea of looking at the top QBs from this year's class. We also hear from Pete on the outlook for injuries to Jamal Adams, Jordyn Brooks, Rashaad Penny and others.

From the podium: The future of Geno Smith as Seahawks QB Jan 18, 2023

Show notes

Following the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the question of the future of Geno Smith as the Seahawks quarterback was one of the most frequent questions. Pete Carroll, Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and Geno himself weighed in on his potential future with the team, although Metcalf seemed to be under the impression that Smith's future with the team was already secure. We also heard from Ryan Neal and Quandre Diggs, and Neal had a particularly emotional reaction to close the season.

Soooo close and yet... a loss to our biggest rivals. Brandan and Clinton spend the hour discussing the micro-moments from barely missed blocks to poor angles, to the fact that Ken Walker only ran the ball 2 times the entire second half!

But in true 3 IN, 3 OUT fashion, it's not at all, all bad. There was some great in this game that will propel us as we head into the 2023 season.

Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Niners Playoff Postgame Reaction Jan 15, 2023

Show notes

The Seattle Seahawks closed out their 2022 campaign with a playoff loss, and they gave us a glimmer of hope that they could move on to the next round. With a 17-16 lead coming out of the first half, the Seahawks fumbled away a chance to match the 49ers first touchdown of the second half. With the defense unable to make a stop after halftime, the offense never had a chance. One bit of good news, was that this game demonstrated a major area of need for the Seahawks to address this offseason.
