The BIG Pre-Draft Seahawks Rumors: Which Ones Actually Matter Apr 27, 2023

Show notes

If you're a frequent listener of the show, then you've heard Adam say many a time, "If it happens on Twitter IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!" ... however, there are a LOT of pre-draft rumors swirling around right now that actually might matter a lot for our Seattle Seahawks.

Is Jalen Carter off the #Seahawks big board? Is CJ Stroud actually falling over a test score? Will the Seahawks trade up for Richardson or down to a QB-needy team for a haul?

With many a rumor swirling around Adam sits down with Mr. Phil! (Phil Lydick - host of Sea Hawkers What If?) to discuss which ones might just actually matter... even if they did appear on Twitter.

403: Clues about the Seahawks plan for the 2023 NFL Draft Apr 26, 2023

Show notes

Pete Carroll and John Schneider met with the Seattle area media ahead of the draft and talked about their approach to the upcoming draft. What clues or hints of what could happen this week may be embedded in their answers. Did last year show that they've dialed in their approach to the draft? We take a listen to several of their quotes including one about the Seahawks plan at safety considering their current depth.

Geno Smith joined Richard Sherman on his podcast this past week as we got to learn a bit more about Seattle's starting quarterback. What does Geno need to be motivated? How has the Seahawks culture improved his mindset as a quarterback? He answers those questions and talks about his relationship with the quarterback he backed up before taking over the starting job.

In the second half of the show, we heard from DK Metcalf on Colin Cowherd recently. He talked about the point of the season last year that Geno Smith really won over the locker room. In Do Better, the NFL still hasn't gotten it right when it comes to Sunday Ticket even though it has shifted to a new platform. There have also been some overreactions about changes on Twitter that fall into the 'it doesn't matter' category. Better at life honors go out to the creators of a fun and quirky new show and to a recent space launch that met expectations.

The ONE Draft Pick to Unlock the 2023 Seattle Seahawks Apr 18, 2023

Show notes

It's fully draft season Flock and we've got a boat-load of picks including 4 in the first 52 (or as Brandan says 4 in the first 40 after Schneider does wizard things)... so we wanted to debate which pick in the first 2 rounds is THE most important for Seattle to nail and how does it unlock the team in 2023 and beyond.

Believe it or not, Brandan, Adam, and Clinton all have different opinions on what pick might matter most and what to do with that selection!

Jalen Carter Visits the Seahawks: NFL Draft Talk with EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football Apr 12, 2023

Show notes

With Jalen Carter set to visit the Seahawks on Tuesday, EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football joined the show to talk about some of the news and rumors surrounding the defensive prospect. His agent said he isn't taking any visits outside of the Top 10. Is there even a chance he could slip out of the Top 10 based on his off-field concerns and Pro Day reports.

Could the Seahawks go after a top cornerback in the draft? Who could make sense for them? One mock draft had them taking Joey Porter Jr., but is that a realistic possibility? Juice Scruggs is a center that EJ recently posted an interview with. We talk about Scruggs and some of the other possible centers if Seattle chooses to pass on the position near the top of the draft.

402: Seahawks set for prime flexibility in NFL Draft after free agency Apr 04, 2023

Show notes

Coming into the offseason the Seahawks faced questions about improving their run defense and whether or not they would stick with Geno Smith or pursue a quarterback with their early draft pick. Smith's contract paired with Drew Lock's return suggests that the most likely outcome is to continue to find pieces to win with Geno. Being in a similar situation didn't stop them from pursuing a quarterback in 2012. However, going for top prospect on defense, bolstering the offensive line and getting another offensive weapon helps set a more focused plan to compete in relatively weak conference in 2023.

We go through some scenarios regarding how the Seahawks could approach the draft and talk about why the team is putting in the effort to scout some of the top quarterbacks in the class. Adam is certain that Anthony Richardson would need multiple seasons to develop into a potential quarterback. Similarly, Trey Lance is trying to work back into the starting lineup in Santa Clara, but he'll have to get reps over Sam Darnold if Brock Purdy isn't going to be ready for the 2023 season.

In the second half of the show, we talk about some of the NFL's latest rule changes and one rule they opted to remain unchanged. In Do Better, we talk about the shift away from allowing people to work from home and a recent mock draft that may have questionable motives. Better at Life honors go out to the flock and to Bobby Wagner for his return to Seattle.

Plus, we have a discussion around the meaning behind the selfie tour with several of the quarterbacks expected to go at the top of the draft.
