Seahawks vs. Patriots Week 2 Overtime Reaction: Live and UnCatfished Sep 16, 2024

Show notes

DK, JSN, and Geno did most of the heavy lifting on offense this Sunday. We had a case of the dropsies, couldn't run the ball effectively, but we got the big stops when we needed and our Seahawks exited Foxboro with a 23-20 W to go to 2-0 on the early season. On the defensive side, the Seahawks had a mixed day. While they struggled to contain the Patriots' run game, they excelled with the pass rush and limited the Patriots' passing attack. Hunter Henry was a thorn in their side early on, but the Seahawks' secondary, led by Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, held strong against the Patriots' wide receivers. Julian Love came up big on multiple occasions. Not only did he block a field goal, he was responsible for some big tackles in the secondary.

441: Second half comeback clinches Coach Macdonald's first Seahawks victory Sep 12, 2024

Show notes

New Head Coach Mike Macdonald didn't have to wait long to get his first regular season victory taking down Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos in the home opener. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb's halftime adjustments led to a more aggressive ground game and helped set up a more successful passing attack. Interceptions by Julian Love and Riq Woolen rattled rookie Box Nix and helped play key roles in the win.

Looking ahead to the matchup against the New England Patriots, stopping their run game will be a priority. DK Metcalf faces another tough matchup lining up across from Christian Gonzalez. But the Seahawks secondary should dominate once again against a questionable Patriots receiving group.

In the second half of the show, we take a look at the performance of the Rams and the 49ers. Despite sustaining multiple injuries on the offensive line and at wide receiver, the Rams still managed to take the game to overtime. Reach out to us via social media, getintheflock.com or our Discord as we head out to Boston for the matchup this week. To close the show we talk about the field conditions around the league and the Patriots Week 1 celebration. Better at life honors go out to Coach Mike for picking up his first win for the team.

The Seahawks soar after second half offensive adjustments Sep 09, 2024

Show notes

From Tyler Lockett's game-sealing one-handed catch to Kenneth Walker's dynamic second-half performance, we cover some of the biggest highlights from the Seahawks 26-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. While the defense was borderline dominant the entire game, the offense found a rhythm in the second half by shifting toward the run game. On defense, Julian Love and Tyrel Dodson were flying all over the field while Riq Woolen came up with a clutch interception at the end.

The New England Patriots are up next and coming off an upset victory over the Bengals. Did we see the real Patriots or was it just a fluke? That'll be something we'll get into more toward the middle of the week.

440: The Seahawks found a way to make us more hyped for the 2024 NFL season opener Sep 04, 2024

Show notes

The wait is over! The 2024 NFL season is here, and we're kicking things off with our focus on the Seattle Seahawks Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The offensive firepower of Kenneth Walker and DK Metcalf under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb have us particularly excited after watching the first team offense in the preseason. We thought we couldn't be more hyped for the start of the season. But it turns out there was an announcement this week that has us even more excited to see our team on the field for the home opener.

What will the debut of rookie quarterback Bo Nix look like against the Seahawks new defensive strategies under Mike Macdonald? Will Grubb's strategy lean towards a high-octane passing game or will he balance it with a powerful ground attack? These are just a couple of the questions that we explore. Plus, a look at which Seahawks were signed to the practice squad after the 53-man roster was set last week.

In the second half of the episode, we talk about two lists that had some of us riled up to close out the preseason. It's also pick'em season! Go to seahawkerspodcast.com and click the link there to join us. Our league overlord makes an appearance to start the season to explain a couple of the important rules, plus the consequences for not following her orders. Do better call outs go to the media for always leaving the NFC West out until the end of coverage and to the coverage of an attempted robbery of a rookie wide receiver. Adam has an announcement about being wrong in his Better at Life segment and a former rival appears to be changing his stripes during his media appearances.

Explosive first-team offense highlights the Seahawks final preseason game Aug 26, 2024

Show notes

The Seahawks wrapped up their preseason with a thrilling 37-33 victory over the Cleveland Browns. We dive into the highs and lows of this high-scoring affair. Geno Smith and the starting offense displayed lightning-quick efficiency of their opening drive. Geno's precision, especially his connection with JSN, and his recognition of one-on-one coverage with the DK Metcalf touchdown has us all intrigued for the first week of the season.

Despite some concerns, like the injury to Uchenna Nwosu and the penalties that marred the game, there were plenty of positives. Kenny McIntosh's 56-yard scamper and D'Wayne Eskridge's punt return showcased the scoring potential. On the defensive side, Jarran Reed's sack, facilitated by Leonard Williams, was a top highlight.

439: The Seahawks (Backup) Quarterback Battle is Over Aug 23, 2024

Show notes

Seahawks fans saw glimmers of potential from both quarterbacks in Week 1 of the preseason. But in Week 2, one quarterback clearly stood out between the two. We dissect the play of Sam Howell against the Titans and talk about where the depth chart stands among the three quarterbacks on the roster. Other position battles are a key focus of the episode. We discuss the competition on the offensive line, particularly between Anthony Bradford and Christian Haynes.

Are Jason Myers' struggles on extra points a cause for concern going into the regular season. If Myers is familiar with playing golf, we have some tips that we think could help him because he's been perfect when kicking his field goals. Defensively, the standout player has been Derek Hall, who has shown significant improvement and strength. We also talk about the Tyrice Knight and his potential as a fourth round draft pick.

In the second half of the show, we talk about the news that Bo Nix has been named the starter for Week 1 of the regular season. However, there is still no news regarding some of the contract holdouts for the Niners. We call out the Chargers social media team and the analysis of Geno Smith's social media posts. Better at Life honors go out to Coach K and Pete Carroll.
