    ===========================

Some alcoholics will say that they’re always alcoholics, even if its been years since their last drink. They’re just recovering. As a recovering perfectionist, my guest I couldn't agree more.

My whole life I was a perfectionist + overachiever. In fact, I remember shamefully throwing away a report card my senior year of high school because I made a B+ in calculus. In calculus! And it was at the college level!

The thing is, being a perfectionist + chronic achiever can lead to great things: success, financial abundance, and yes, status.

But when you die, all those things go away + don’t matter. And unfortunately, the perfectionist mentality keeps you from living a life of deeper meaning.

This hit home for me, and I know it did for my guest today. Both of us had achieved so much, yet it was never enough. We were always tired, and at the end of the day, something was missing.

Kelly + I dive deep into the conversation about all things perfectionism, worthiness, and relationships.

    Here’s what we jam on:

    • Where feelings of feeling worthy + being enough have to come from
    • How to know the difference between a ‘perfect’ relationship + a real life relationship
    • How to deal with your imperfections, baggage, and being rejected, without losing your feelings of worthiness

    About Kelly:

Kelly Covert is co-owner of Strong Body Whole Heart, a transformational coaching company. She is passionate about helping women transform from the inside out and start loving themselves today and living to their fullest potential. Kelly is a dynamic speaker and speaks to groups across the country on the topics of everyday worthiness, the myth of perfection and the importance of vision. Her work has been featured in the Huffington Post and the Elephant Journal. She is also the host of The Strong Body Whole Heart Podcast available on iTunes.

EP13: Debunking Sexual Myths + Dating with August McLaughlin Mar 31, 2016
    Show notes

On today’s episode, I’m so excited to introduce to you a nationally recognized health + sexuality expert, August McLaughlin. It’s possible to talk about all things dating + relationships without ever talking about how sex fits into the equation. Since we haven’t talked directly on the topic yet on this podcast, I can’t wait for you to listen in to this juicy episode.

I especially loved this episode because the key to sexual empowerment + a satisfying sexual relationship with your partner runs parallel to everything I teach: dating yourself + treating yourself the way you want to be treated.

    As I said, August is a nationally recognized health + sexuality expert, and is host of Girl Boner Radio {Yes, you heard that right!}. Girl Boner is a show that celebrates women’s lives + sexuality “like no other.” I’m so excited that I’ll be coming onto her show in late May. {I’ll send you the episode when it’s live!}

Here’s what we jam about in this episode:

    • How soon is too soon to sleep with someone you’re dating, and what other sex rules are there?
    • Do women’s sexuality really peak in their childbearing years?
    • The link between your sexuality + body image
    • How can a woman start getting more comfortable with herself sexually?
    • Keeping things interesting in a long-term relationship + planned sex dates: yay or nay?

EP12: Love Lost, Life Found With Robyn Baldwin: A story of a canceled wedding, leaving a toxic relationship, and ignoring red flags Mar 24, 2016
    Show notes

I’m so excited to share with you my interview with Robyn Baldwin. Robyn is a self-described Alpha Female + Work/Life Harmony Strategist.

Her story, and her transformation afterward blew my mind. Four years ago, Robyn canceled her wedding after realizing the relationship she was in was a toxic + co-dependent. She stayed with a man that had his own shit to deal with. But her belief of unconditional love + that love conquers all made her stay, because she believed she could fix him + the relationship.

Even after calling off the wedding, Robyn still struggled with putting herself first + literally could not be alone in her apartment.

Even if you’ve never broken off an engagement or canceled your wedding, so much of her story is incredibly common. As you’re listening, consider these questions:

In your current or a past relationship, did or do you believe that you are responsible for your partner’s happiness?

Does unconditional love conquer all? At what point is for better or worse a bad idea?

Are you operating under a timeline of when you think you ought to be married or having kids?

    Can you hang out by yourself? {And enjoy it?}

Finally, what red flags have you ignored? When has going against your intuition worked for you? Has it ever?

    Robyn’s bio:

Robyn Baldwin is an Alpha Female and a Work/Life Harmony Strategist. She is a Sr. Integrated Marketing Manager, a fitness/lifestyle blogger at RobynBaldwin.com, a former Canada Football League cheerleader and fitness competitor, a published fitness model, a freelance magazine writer, a future best selling author, a brand ambassador and a sponsored athlete. With a passion for fitness Robyn loves running, weight lifting, has taught spin and coached beginner runners. She’s also a yogi and has been practicing for over 10 years. She now spends the majority of her spare time training for obstacle course racing. She also calls herself an MS Warrior after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December of 2014.

    1. Jacq’s tips for what she WISHED she’d done in her 30s to make entering her 40s easier + more graceful.
    2. How red flags in your 40s are different than red flags in your 20s + 30s.
    3. Why learning about perimenopause + knowing your chronological age vs. biological age is important for childbirth in your late 30s + 40s.
    4. How to start dating again if you’re newly single.

    About Jacq:

    =================================================

If like attracts like, there’s a good chance you’re a lot like me. You’re driven, you have big goals, and most of your friends were...male.

If that doesn’t sound like you, I’m STILL willing to bet that at least once {but probably more} you viewed other women as “the competition” + have sized yourself up against other women.

If that’s you, there’s no shaming or hard feelings, I’m pretty sure we’re all guilty of this, and so was my guest on Date Yourself Radio.

Shannon lived most of her life in her masculine energy, secretly despising other women. In her mind, men were a scarce commodity, and other women were the competition. It wasn’t until she tapped into her own femininity + changed her relationship to other woman that she was able to attract the relationship she has today.

In today’s episode, she shares that journey with us.

    About Shannon:

Shannon grew up on her family’s pear farm in a small town in Northern California. She floated up to a skyscraper in Manhattan as a corporate lawyer. When that wasn’t working, she hit the road as a travel photographer all over the world. Now, she is a rooted mama living in Asheville, NC with her 2 year old daughter + husband.

She share her passion for whole food nutrition + vertical gardening in her business. Most recently, she hosts the podcast, Honor The Feminine Podcast, and feels so blessed and honored to connect with and share these incredible women.

    3. What does saying yes mean and what does it do
    4. How to start saying yes to the right things, and not burn yourself out.

EP08 How A Healthy Relationship To Food Attracts A Healthy Relationship With Casey Berglund Feb 25, 2016
    Show notes

I am so excited about today’s episode. Casey {from worthyandwell.com} + I have been buds almost since my business’ beginning. It’s been really fun to have a friend where we got to birth our businesses, programs, and services into the world together. {This must be why moms who were pregnant together have unique + special bonds?! I think I’m kinda getting it.} Anyways, she’s a master at helping people heal their relationship to food, and eat for fuel, flavor, and fun. I adore Casey + what she teaches, mostly because she gave me a good excuse to use an analogy in my show notes {SAT, old school style}: Your relationship with yourself is to your romantic relationships, as _____ is to all your relationships. Give up? It's food! I love what Casey does because she doesn't teach you what to eat/not to eat. She teaches you how to use your own inner wisdom as a guide to know what to eat. This not only changes your relationship to food, it really changes all the relationships you have in your life. Food + my relationship to it has been a huge part of my life, and I attribute changing the way I ate to attract {and keep} Stevie. I was a chronic dieter + calorie counter-extraordinaire. For years I believed that once I reached the perfect weight, all my dating problems would be solved + I could have any relationship I wanted. It was only once I saw food as something as nourishing + not ‘something to be conquered’ did I transform the relationship I had with myself, and ultimately, attract the relationship I truly wanted. If you struggle with food, then this episode is for you. About Casey:For many years Casey had an unhealthy and unhappy relationship with food, her body, and her life. She is a self-described queen of the all-or-none when it came to food + dieting. She read every diet book she could get her hands on and ate in a very rigid way (that would usually backfire). This left her exhausted + feeling stuck. She got her degree in nutrition from the University of Alberta, which was useful in learning how food affected her body. But what REALLY helped her was establishing a yoga practice. Yoga helped her let go of her perfectionist mentality + made her more mindful. It connected her with her own unique inner wisdom, which now serves to guide the way she eats, the way she treat her body, and the way she lives her life. In this episode, here’s what you’ll learn:1. How Casey created her own inner wisdom, and how it helps her make eating choices that keep her nourished + happy. {She’ll tell you how to create your own inner wisdom, too.}2. How to eat on a first date or in front of men without feeling self-conscious3. How mindful eating can help you attract the right relationship for you4. How to deal with different food choices + values in a relationship {eg, you’re a vegetarian + he’s not} Resources: Casey's 21-Day Mindful Eating Challenge Worthy and Well Dating Clarity Session

EP07 How The Lemon Law Applies To Dating Feb 23, 2016
    Show notes

If you've been with me for a while, you know that I am {not so} secretly obsessed with How I Met Your Mother.

I think the show is brilliant in how they portray dating + relationships.

When I saw the episode where Barney explains his application of the Lemon Law, I thought it was genius, and I knew it would have to be a podcast episode.

Now, the Lemon Law, when it comes to cars, means that if a car is defected or continues to break with repeated fixes, it falls under the Lemon Law. You can get your money back.

When it comes to dating, according to Barney, the Lemon Law can be invoked within the first 5 minutes of a date if one or both parties "deems the union hopeless."

Obviously, that's a bit shallow, and not what I'm advocating.

In this week's episode, I'll explain what I AM advocating if a date isn't going so well, or if you aren't sure about your guy.

    Specifically, I'm talking about:

    1. The time I invoked the Lemon Law + left halfway through a date
    2. If he looks good on paper, but you aren't sure, should you keep seeing him?
    3. How to deal with the guilt in turning a great guy down

    Tune in below!

After you listen, in the comments below, I'd love to hear have you ever agreed to 2nd, 3rd, dates {and beyond!} because you felt guilty or that you "should" like him?

Tell me about it below in the show notes, veronicagrant.com/episode7.

    xo,

    Veronica

EP06: 3 Steps To The Relationship You Desire Feb 11, 2016
    Show notes

When I work with private or group clients, I have a very specific process I take them through.

    Why?

    Because I know it works.

So often, when I see women who want to get serious about meeting someone they immediately download the latest dating app, start imagining their dream guy, or spend ALL their free time dating.

The truth is, this doesn't work! At least not in the long term.

You don't need another dating app, you can throw your perfect man list out, and if you spend ALL your time dating, you will burn out.

Instead? I have 3 steps, and guess what, the first 2, don't even involve anyone else!

If you're really serious about attracting the relationship you most desire, you've got to get serious with the relationship you have with yourself.

I don't care if that sounds woo-woo or too warm + fuzzy for you, but it's the truth.

It's a fact that the relationship we have with others is a reflection of the relationship you have with yourself.

You can't expect someone to treat you like a queen if you yourself don't treat yourself like a queen.

In this episode, I share my 3 steps, and WHY they are important for lasting love.

    The three steps are:

    1. Lay the foundation
    2. Clear your dating energetic space
    3. Attract + keep your ideal relationship

Tune in below so you can get all the details + learn what the heck those steps actually mean.

When you're done listening, head over to the show notes, tell me: where in this process do you struggle with most? Are you hung up on old boyfriends? You don't put yourself first? Share in the comments below.

    xoxo,

    V
