THE LAST GAME EVER Apr 01, 2014

Show notes

I've seen Minmaxers, like the Power gamers that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a railroader. You have a right to quit the game. You have a right to do that, but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what GMing means. Edition Wars! Killer GMing has a face, and you must make a friend of Invincible NPCs and unbeatable traps. Horror and moral dilemmas are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies...I watched a flail snail crawl along the edge of a vorpal sword. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a +5 magical weapon . . . and surviving.

Eclipse Phase: Erasure Squad Mar 26, 2014

Show notes

In this special one shot (technically a gaiden game to an upcoming campaign) and first use of the new Zoom H2N recorder, the RPPR crew returns to Eclipse Phase! Instead of being sentinels investigating a mystery, this adventure focuses on an erasure squad, one of Firewall's tactical assault teams. A rare opportunity has presented itself to take out a facility held by exhumans. However, Firewall did not have time to send in one of its experienced teams. They assembled a new erasure squad with whatever operatives were available at the time. Thus, a team composed of a SAIROC-K model variant, an ultimate mercenary, an autonomist machine fighter, and a scum warrior, led by a Triad enforcer will have to face whatever horrors lurk within a mysterious habitat in the Main Belt.

Call of Cthulhu: July Park Mar 11, 2014

Show notes

When I was in China, I met up with some RPPR listeners and ran a game of Call of Cthulhu for them. I was fascinated by the rise of Ghost Cities in China, so I decided to run a one shot set in one. Three investigators hired by a western hedge fund head out to Inner Mongolia to assess a newly built city, which is oddly called July Park, as a potential investment opportunity. The investigators find more than they could have imagined but will they survive long enough to understand what they have seen? Please note that this episode was recorded on my phone instead of the usual recorder, so the quality isn't quite as good. I had a blast running the game so I think you guys will still enjoy it.

Who is behind the shambling undead and what can the defenders of Brighter Futures do to find and stop them, all while protecting the students and faculty? A Dirty World: Dr. Nova’s Going Away Party Feb 24, 2014

Show notes

In the distant future, Mars is the home of transhumanity, while earth is a ruined wasteland. Most of the population are corporate wage slaves and are only placated by vapid entertainment produced by hypercorp-contracted celebrities. These musicians, actors, and athletes live under a system not unlike the Hollywood studio system of old. They have money, influence, and an adoring entourage of lackeys but they have little control over their own lives. Gossip bloggers and studio executives manipulate the stars like puppets. Paparazzi and obsessive fans stalk them night and day. However, a ticket on Dr. Felonious Nova's Ark Ship out of the solar system has opened up. When you're a nearly immortal but incredibly jaded and burned out executive or celebrity, a way out of the rat race and into annals of history as a hero is worth more than anything. The ticket will be given to someone at Dr. Nova's party. Yes, this is a Dirty World game set in the Eclipse Phase universe. All hail RPG schizophrenia!

An invasion from the Manta Ray island pits our heroes against monstrous spiders and other threats. In order to delay the invasion, the heroes undertake a risky mission into the depths of the underground. Will their heroism be enough to save the day? Find out in our first session of Dungeon World!

Better Angels: The Spared and the Spoiled episode 4 Feb 13, 2014

Show notes

After saving the school through highly illegal, reckless, and utterly amoral methods, the Fiendish Four want to take it easy for a bit, but new threats emerge! It seems that they aren't the only new superhumans at Brighter Futures and unlike the Four, these interlopers are using their powers directly on the students. Territorial disputes seem inevitable, but how mature will the Fiendish Four be when it comes to resolving conflicts with their colleagues?
