16 | How to Get Better at CrossFit (or Anything) Mar 27, 2018
    Show notes

The Open is over… now what? If you’re like me, you might be left wandering aimlessly in the gym after so many weeks (and months) of focused effort on prepping for, performing in, and recovering from the Open.

It takes a lot of mental, emotional, and of course, physical, capacity to go through that, and when it’s over, we’re all left wondering, what’s next? You know what your strengths and weaknesses are, so how do you actually get better?

In this episode I focus on CrossFit, but the truth is, this system works for ANY sport (and arguably, any discipline). If you are determined to get better but just aren’t super sure how to get there beyond keeping up with your regular routine, this show breaks it down for you:

What to focus on to deliver the biggest results across every modality, how to be an advocate for yourself, the things I wish *everyone* would remember when trying to PR, and a general step by step system to see results in the gym.

    Mentioned in this show:

In Depth with Games Athlete Rory Zambard

Diets: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Problem with Progress That No One is Talking About

15 | On Judgement: How to Put Down the Gavel Mar 20, 2018
    Show notes

People will love you, and people will hate you, and none of it will have anything to do with you.

The creepy mirrored funhouse that is judgement is a world that’s worth your attention. If you are someone who is constantly judging the way others are dressing, speaking, behaving, or otherwise living, chances are pretty good that you’re also being just as critical with yourself.

This episode is about how we can heal our relationships to ourselves, and be more happy, compassionate and at peace — not only with ourselves and our bodies — but with the world at large, through examining our judgements.

Living an authentic life, facing up to your internal dialogue and bad habits, failure, dreaming big(ger), and so much more: this interview with Lauren Handel Zander has allthethings.

Her book, Maybe It’s You, instantly became one of my all time faves, and her no BS style is sure to inspire you to investigate the ways in which you might be getting in your own way of living the life of your dreams.

Some of my favorite lines from this interview:

“If you have no tolerance for failure, you don’t get to win”

“The minute you say ‘I’m not changing this’, you actually get that you could”

“We need to break into our own mainframe”

13 | The Art of Giving 100%: Why Comparison is the Thief of Joy Mar 06, 2018
    Show notes

A workout. A competition. A presentation. Any time we’re put the the test, why are we SO quick to point out the 37 ways in which we could have done better? Why do we immediately list all the ways in which we were disadvantaged, or that our competition had some distinct advantage that we didn’t have?

Why is unapologetically delivering 100% effort so damn hard for us to do?

With the Open in full swing, this is an especially important time to consider these questions, and more importantly, make an honest effort to rewire this tendency.

This episode is about how owning our vulnerability and being unapologetically proud of our efforts will make us better athletes, businesswomen, partners, friends, and overall happier people.

12 | F**k the Scale: 10 Ways to Measure Health Beyond Body Fat Feb 27, 2018
    Show notes

Is there anything that the average American woman fears more than the bathroom scale? This tiny little piece of plastic has the power to make us feel happy, devastated, confident or ashamed, and even when we don’t want to be swayed by it, we are.

Beyond the scale impacting our mood, one of the biggest fallacies about the number flashing back at us is that it is a reflection of our HEALTH. And just isn’t that simple.

We need to stop conflating thinness or leanness with health, because the truth is, health comes in every size, shape and form.

This episode has 10 alternate ways for you to consider your health to help you drop the obsession with the scale and focus on the things that actually matter.
