    Show notes

In this month's episode, Charlie and George finally venture into Tarantino territory with Tony Scott's 90's classic, True Romance!

The boys discuss the film's origins, it's amazing and exhaustive cast list and their favourite standout scenes.

    EP#31 - Demolition Man (1993) Jan 28, 2019
    Show notes

In this month's episode, Charlie and George have had an attitude adjustment and enhanced their calm, ready to take on 1993 sci-fi satirical shoot 'em up, Demolition Man!

Revisiting the 1993 action classic, the boys discuss the shiny future tech of 2032, Stallone vs Snipes and some dubious fashion choices. There's the standard production chat, alternative casting in Coulda Woulda Shoulda and (cue trumpets) exciting new feature, Suspicious Spin-Offs!

Be warned there are bad Stallone impressions and repeated violations of the verbal morality statute.

    EP#30 - Review of 2018 Dec 29, 2018
    Show notes

In this special podcast, the brothers McGhee look back at the best (and worst) films of 2018. Films like Ready Player One, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, A Quiet Place, Venom and Bohemian Rhapsody all get a mention. The boys also diverge into less blockbustery territory with their favourite indie/arthouse films like 3 Billboards and Bad Times at El Royale. There's also made-up awards, the usual bad impressions and George goes on a mini-rant about a certain sci-fi sequel. For more in-depth coverage of some of the year's blockbusters, please check out our Recent Ramble episodes.

    EP#29 - Die Hard (1988) Dec 03, 2018
    Show notes

In this month's episode, Charlie and George head to Nakatomi Plaza to discuss controversial Christmas film and all around action classic Die Hard. The boys discuss the film's literary roots, the key contributions from Predator (insert link) maestro John McTiernan, the genius of Alan Rickman, classic 1980's douchebags and fond memories of the PS1 game "Die Hard Trilogy". Regular podcast features such as bad impressions ("Put the gun away, this is radio, not television"), alternative casting choices in Coulda Woulda Shoulda and new staple - Suspicious Stuntmen, all make an appearance. Is Die Hard a Christmas film? Does it actually matter? Listen to find out!

    EP#28 - Beetlejuice (1988) Oct 21, 2018
    Show notes

In this year's Halloween special, Charlie and George get spooky with the Ghost With The Most, Beetlejuice!

Join the Brothers McGhee as they venture into the twisted imagination of director Tim Burton and discuss how influential the film was on the rest of his career. The boys also touch on the impact it had on the film's cast, launching the careers of Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder - much to the frustration of Alec Baldwin (probably). So jump in line, rock your body in time and check out this episode! Happy Hallowe'en!

Next up, they travel to the sweaty bayous of New Orleans, to tackle mullets, muscles and hobo hardmen in John Woo's Hard Target!

Along the way, the boys discuss fashion faux pas, frequent flashbacks, detective doves and Lance Henrikson's intense approach to playing the piano.

Hard Target review begins around 46 mins into the episode.

    Enjoy and please share!

In Gaming, Charlie shares his love of web-slinging in the new Spider-man PS4 game and some of the recent beta launches he's taken part in. Too recent for you? Don't worry, Retro Ramble will return very soon & very limber with a Jean Claude Van Damme 2-for-1 sandwich where we will be reviewing both the 1980s classic Bloodsport and 1990s Slo-Mo-Mullet-Dove-Fest that is Hard Target! Get stretching, there will be leg-splits!

In this episode, the boys discuss classic Costner, De Niro being De Niro, a magnificent Morricone soundtrack and Sean Connery's trying to be Irish – when he's not busy playing golf.

Please be warned, there are high levels of Connery impressions

They discuss the classic espionage, Brian De Palma-drama of the first instalment, as well as the action-packed, multiple-masked insanity of the John Woo sequel.

As usual, we delve behind the scenes, discuss alternate casting and provide enough bad impressions to risk being Disavowed.

    Enjoy and please share.

    Episode 23 - Jurassic Park (1993) Jun 29, 2018
    Show notes

In this months episode, Charlie and George are flown to a secret island off the coast to Costa Rica to rediscover Jurassic Park! In celebrating the films 25th anniversary and the current release of the fifth installment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the boys evaluate what makes it such a classic blockbuster.

They discuss the battle for the rights to the original novel, ground breaking CGI, Standard Spielbergian Suspense and of course, the natural wonder of the world that is Jeff Goldblum.

Hold on to your butts, as there'll be spoilers, bad impressions (that includes dinosuars) and the kind of language that comes naturally to Samuel L Jackson.

    Enjoy.
