God created all things for His glory and His pleasure. For the first 19 years of my life, I knew God loved me but I didn't understand that He found pleasure in me.

When I grew in my understanding of this principle, my life was forever changed. As a child, God orchestrated an event in my life to show me I was a sinner in need of salvation. He drew me to Himself. Then later, He used a great heartbreak to sharpen my vision, give me focus, and to make my heart beat for eternity.

Both of these moments in my life happened during the Christmas season. I hope this podcast encourages you and deepens your understanding that you, too, were created for His glory and He finds pleasure in you.

I grabbed some time with my daughter-in-law, Chesed, and her girls as they were on their way to Fripp Island to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family.

I'm so thankful my son, Jeremy and his family, stopped here first! We had an evening and morning together.

It was so fun to gather the girls for a podcast - we talked about many random things!

Like ... what their fall has been like - school and activities and schedules- even the road trip from DC to Seabrook! And I have to say I just listened because that part of the podcast is so entertaining!

Some of their thoughts gathered around the theme of time and how it is such a gift.

God is always working in our lives whether we are 9 or 66.

Women are house builders.

Proverbs 9:1 says, "Wisdom has built her house . . . "

Verse 10 says : "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

The Woman Who Builds Nov 12, 2024

Proverbs 24:3–4 states this:

"By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches."

God is so kind to trust women to build homes whose rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. As we build our homes, we are strengthening the country, and we have a major influence in the world. When we do this, we are bringing honor to the Lord.

The poem "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle is the Hand that Rules the World" was written in 1865 and although the phrase remains, the poem has long faded from memory.

As you listen to this week's podcast, you will hear a lot from the book of Proverbs, you will hear the poem, and by God's grace, you will be renewed in your heart about what it means to walk with God moment by moment doing the things God has called you to do. And one of those things is rocking the cradle. The world may not notice your faithfulness in the home, but God does. And it matters.

Working in the home matters. Being there for your people - making a house a home matters.

All throughout the Scripture, we see how God created women to be keepers of the home in a very special way. Then specifically in Titus chapter 2, when the Lord is giving a curriculum list of what the older women are to teach the younger women, one of those is to be "a worker at home. "

This week on the podcast, we're going to explore that phrase and even talk about how it has become so controversial in our day.

Rest For Our Souls Oct 08, 2024

Jesus gave an invitation in Matthew's gospel:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

That invitation still stands for us today. On this week's podcast, we get glimpse of some people in the New Testament and how Jesus taught them to rest even when they were disappointed in life, even when their circumstances overwhelmed them, and even when they were distracted and flustered.

What Jesus taught still stands and applies for us today.
