As my son and his wife launch their first child from home, I have been thinking about so many things. Life is filled with bittersweet moments. This past week, in particular, I have been filled with so much nostalgia as I reflected on how quickly time goes by, how important it is that we invest the time God gives us well, live in the moment yet all the while look forward to the future.
It's interesting, but as I was searching for a document on my computer, I came across a response I had written to someone's question back in 2004.
It was a time in our lives when we were launching three of our children from home at the same time ... that was the year we had three graduations and a wedding. And though we had begun the process four years earlier when our first child went to college, it hit me. It was 20 years ago and now these 20 years later, our oldest grandson is launching from his home.
So, I had an epiphany - I needed to share what I wrote on the podcast. See, a lot of people wonder about launching their children – whether they should let them go to "secular" universities and what God may have for them. I took the time to answer the one who wrote to me, and in my response to her, I even said this, "I am taking some time to deal with the issues you raised – I do this not only for you, but also for other women who will face these decisions."
I hope this week's podcast is an encouragement to you. I plan to follow up, by God's grace, to further explore this topic. Let me hear from you!
