Puck the Huskies Podcast: Michigan win. Iowa preview. Big 10 QB void. Should Huskies be 6-0? Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

On the latest Puck the Huskies Podcast, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by former Huskies defensive lineman Jordan Reffett and Huskies sideline reporter Elise Woodward.

They discuss Washington’s win over Michigan and how mistake free they played. Can that formula carry over for the rest of the season.

Will playing at 9am have a negative affect on them this week against Iowa?

Why does the Big 10 not have any good quarterbacks? What’s the cause of that?

Jordan and Puck debate whether the Huskies should be 6-0.

Ryan Divish Show: John Stanton interview reaction. MLB playoffs fantastic. M's blew a gold opportunity Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

We check in with Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times for his weekly offseason look at the Mariners and other off the wall topics that Puck and Divish can come up with. Best tacos. Best bourbon. Struggling golf games and modern complaints of 40 year olds.

Divish gives his reaction to the John Stanton interview on Mariners.com. What didn’t he answer? Is there anything that Stanton could have said that would have appeased the Mariners fan base?

Puck and Divish lament how much damage the Mariners could have made in the playoffs because of the lack of really good starting pitching in the postseason. The Dodgers and Tigers (minus Skubal) have issues in their rotation. The Mariners team was built for the postseason, however, they are not built for the regular season.

Rob Staton Show: Seahawks defensive concerns. Ryan Grubb play calling. Add Jadeveon Clowney? Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, checks in for his weekly visit to talk all things Seahawks. The frustration with the defense. The injury to Uchenna Nwosu and the lackluster performance from the team against the Giants. Why did the Seahawks come out so flat against New York and Rob explains why that is such a huge problem.

Ryan Grubb didn’t have his best game, obviously, but it’s no time to panic for the offense. Both Puck and Rob feel like the offense will get it going and it will start on Thursday against the 49ers.

Speaking of the 49ers, this Thursday’s game is most likely a must win for both. Both teams are winless in the conference. Whoever loses is not out of the playoff race, but it will be a major uphill climb.

Could help be on the way for the Seahawks defense? Rob wants to kick the tires on former Seahawks player, Jadeveon Clowney. You agree?

Daily Puck Drop: Jim doesn't like Fisch's visor. Another dumb bet. Guests: Rob Staton on the Seahawks and Ryan Divish stops to talk offseason Mariners Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore for the first thirty minutes where Jim rails against Jedd Fisch and him wearing a visor. Puck and Jim also make another bet. In fact, they made two of them. Puck is taking UW +2.5 at Iowa and the 49ers -3.5 against the Seahawks. Both bets for $100. Jim has been on a heater and Puck desperately needs a win.

Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, checks in for his weekly visit to talk all things Seahawks. The frustration with the defense. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck address blowback from his criticism of Daniel Kramer’s piece on Mariners.com. Puck offers an apology.

    Rundown

00:00 Jim joins the show for the first 30 minutes and makes fun of Jedd Fisch’s visor and hopes he bails for Florida. Puck and Jim make another pair of bets and Puck is going with Iowa and San Francisco. Jim calls Puck a bad fan.

34:10 Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, joins to talk about the Seahawks defense woes. Players lackluster performance. Ryan Grubb play calling. A piece the Seahawks could add on defense

01:15:59 Ryan Divish, Seattle Times talks about the Mariners offseason in his weekly visit. What are his thoughts on John Stanton’s interview with Mariners.com? How could the Mariners waste their starting pitching, especially when they are built for the postseason. The MLB playoffs have been sensational. Who do we want to see in the World Series? Divish talks about his Montana Grizzlies. His love for bourbon and his terrible golf game.

John Canzano Show: Oregon/Ohio State. UW win over Michigan. UNLV/Pac-12 Talking? Jonathan Smith and point spreads Oct 08, 2024
    Show notes

John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, discusses all things college football. They start off with thoughts on the upcoming Oregon and Ohio State game on Saturday. John likes Oregon to win, but Dillon Gabriel must play better.

How much did we learn from Washington’s victory over Michigan. Is this the win that sparks Jedd Fisch and UW or is Michigan just a bad football team?

How will Jake Dickert and the Cougs avoid a mid-season slide what will their record be when they face the Oregon State Beavers on Nov. 23?

Why isn’t eir a college football commissioner or czar? College athletes will be getting paid as the courts have passed that current and former athletes are entitled to roughly $2.7 billion dollars. How will that affect the college landscape?

Johnathan Smith sure knows a lot about point spreads. Puck and John have a good laugh with Smith covering the spread last week against Oregon. Puck wonders how many coaches are aware of the point spreads and could that raise a red flag?

Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!? Alabama fan rants on Kalen Deboer and they already want him out!

    Show notes

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett gets off on a late start because he’s a putz and forgot to hit the “LIVE” button. Once started, he chatted about the injury news on Uchenna Nwosu, which was first reported by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, a weekly guest of Puck’s, every Thursday at 10:20. Garafolo texted Puck while on the air and said that Nwosu will be out longer than four weeks, but he doesn’t believe it’s season ending.

Puck goes over the Seahawks defense and how bad it’s been this season and the game that highlights that is their win against the Patriots. They have real, real issues and not sure Mike Macdonald can fix all of them.

00:00 Daily Puck Drop gets delayed because Puck is an idiot and didn’t hit the “LIVE” button! Once he got started, opened up with the breaking news that Uchenna Nwosu is out for the next four weeks and placed on the IR. Mike Garafolo, Puck’s weekly guest on Thursday’s texted Puck and said it will be longer than the four weeks, but he doesn’t think season ending. Daily Puck Drop w/ Jim Moore : Seahawks destroyed. Weekend Roundup. Guests: "Ground Puck" w/ Curtis Crabtree & Tim Booth, Seahawks looked terrible. Oct 07, 2024
    Show notes

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett and Jim Moore jump right into the Seahawks miserable loss. One of the worst they have seen from a defense in years. Puck and Jim also were mad at Michigan for not beating Washington and they can’t figure out how a program like Michigan can’t have a QB!!

What’s the worst part of the defense? is it the linebackers or defensive line? Puck is not impressed with the linebackers. So far, Mike Macdonald has not fixed the defense especially against the run. How concerning is that especially with the 49ers looming on Thursday, which is probably a must win game for both teams if they want to make the playoffs.

On Monday’s Weekend RoundUp…Puck details the results of the Interbay Eagles, his son’s youth football team. The results of the college football weekend which saw Jonathan Smith covering the spread vs. Oregon. Kalen DeBoer blows it against Vanderbilt and fans already pissed at him. Miami and Cam Ward stormed back to beat Cal, which was a great site for College GameDay.

“Ground Puck Podcast” w/ Jason “Puck” Puckett and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13, Tim Booth Seattle Times.

How in the world did the Seahawks lose to the lowly New York Giants? The defense was completely outplayed and had no answer for the the Giants, despite Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary being out. What is the biggest problem for the defense? Is it the defensive line or the lack of playmakers at linebacker?

The offense wasn’t much better. Ryan Grubb did not have a good day. Ken Walker managed just five carries in the game and just two in the first half. The Seahawks dropped back on 51 of their 58 plays. That just can’t continue to happen if the Seahawks want to win games.

The upcoming schedule is real pivotal for the Seahawks, starting on Thursday with the 49ers. After that they head to Atlanta to take on an explosive Falcons offense and then it’s back home to face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The season has a chance to slip away real fast.

Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck?!” Defense is still a problem and Mike Macdonald has yet to fix it.

    Rundown

00:00 Puck and Jim jump right into the Seahawks game and why it was one of the worst performances in Seahawks history. They recap the college football weekend. They praise the great Jonathan Smith and Puck and Jim feel he should be the coach of the week because he covered the spread against the Ducks!

01:00:27 “Ground Puck Podcast” w/ Jason “Puck” Puckett and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13, Tim Booth Seattle Times. The Seahawks had one of their worst performances on defense in a number of years. Why is the defense struggling so much to stop the run? Are the linebackers playing well? Defensive line still not getting a push. Offensive line is still a mess and it doesn’t appear to be getting better anytime soon. Schedule is getting tougher and the next four weeks will determine if they get in or not.

01:45:05 “Hey, What the Puck!?” Defense still a problem and Mike Macdonald hasn’t fixed it…yet.
