David Lupinsky ,Sr. Vice President of Products at CorVel, shares the Opportunities and Benefits of Telehealth/Digital Health. The primary benefit is that healthcare is being brought to patients, instead of patients having to go to healthcare. It also has caused savings for employers, increased productivity at the workplace, better and more efficient care for the individual and subsequently leading to reduced total medical costs. Patients and Providers have shown overall positive feedback as it’s convenient, evaluations mirror examinations they’re used too and it offers a more hybrid schedule for providers. He also shares how telehealth is incorporating translation and transcription to expand and improve care for patients, as well as maximizes care in between visits that encourage patient compliance and change patient behavior.

Jason McMahon, Risk Manager for Midwest Public Risk, offers insights and preventive strategies for Cyber Incidents. He starts off by answering why we still see so many cyber incidents; explaining that oftentimes it doesn’t become a priority for entities until there’s been an issue. He shares tips that can help in determining if an email is phishing or not and what he’s seen from the claim side that public entities may not be aware of. He emphasizes the importance of educating your staff and having a protocol is necessary as no software or hardware can fully prevent certain aspects of human nature.

Thomas Bullock, Director of Education and Training at Virginia Risk Sharing Association (VRSA), teaches how to identify and respond to current and future cyber security threats. Cyber Security has transitioned from protecting data to every area that we use the internet, from social media and email to GPS and medical records. Thomas explains how cyber attacks stem from organizational problems, not technical ones and therefore requires all employees to understand and participate in mitigating risks. He explains "Defense in Depth;" a multi-layered approach to cyber security that may appear redundant but addresses many different attack vectors and closes the gaps that occur between singular layers of security such as: firewalls, malware, scanners, and integrity auditing solutions. He describes why a cyber security incident response plan is necessary, who you should include in your response team, who you need to notify and the four phases to the most effective response plans: 1. preparation 2. detection and analysis 3. containment, eradication and recovery. 4. post-incident activity.

When considering communication practices he compares the usefulness of social media to a town square. It's a place for important information where people will already be congregating. In order to grow an audience, it's important to set specific goals and milestones. Consider the timeline, what information will you be featuring, how is it useful to your community, and then it's adjusting your goals over time. He advises how to deal with community engagement, developing a policy, how public figures can separate their public and personal presence. He also encourages social media advertising, but only after having established policies, safe account measures, your budget and ROI goals.

Diane Becker, explains what it means to communicate with a frog. It encompasses the unique and effective techniques for communication with members. She explains why starting with the audience is key - asking who they are, and what their needs are. Secondly, it’s having a specific goal. She suggests the first goal to be building trust with the audience. That will lead to better interactions and understanding of how to achieve your goal in helping them understand. Once that is established the ability to communicate what you would like the audience to know and implementing techniques becomes most effective. She shares instances on how they’ve handled statewide crises, such as flooding, and addressing recurring claims, such as trips and falls.
