    Problematic Women

Conservative women are “Problematic Women.” We are proud to be pro-life, pro-family, and pro-traditional American values. Because we don’t fit the left’s version of what a feminist should be, we have been labeled PROBLEM and we have embraced the title.

    Show notes

This Saturday is the 4th annual Women’s March in Washington D.C.— but it's not clear that the march will attract many women. We analyze the protest's history from their strong start in 2017 to their drastic decline. We also talk about states considering legislation to regulate high school transgender athletes. Plus: Our take on "Toy Story 4" and why the accusations of the movie being racist and sexist are absurd.

Sex, Feminism, and Socialism Dec 23, 2019
    Show notes

From the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Palm Beach, Florida, "Problematic Women" dives into the history of feminism and the rise of socialism within the women’s movement.

Hosts Lauren Evans and Virginia Allen explain how the women’s movement was hijacked by the sexual revolution. The right to vote, equal treatment in the workplace and equal opportunities in society were some of the founding ideals of the women’s movement— but all that began to change in the 1960s as the agenda of the sexual revolution infiltrated the women’s movement.

We also talk with the founder of Young Americans Against Socialism, Morgan Zegers.

"Problematic Women" will be back in studio on Thursday, Jan. 16. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Now serving as Heritage's spokesperson and senior advisor, Wood has had an extended career in policy and media in Washington D.C. where she's interviewed countless politicians, government officials, celebrities, and notorious figures (spoiler: we find out her favorite!).

She also shares what it takes to be successful on a TV interview, her coolest D.C. stories, and gives advice to anyone looking to have a career in the media. Finally, as an outspoken football fan — we talk the latest on the Colin Kaepernick saga and how it's been affecting the NFL.

The episode is the third installment in our recent series problematic role models, in which we interview influential women that we look up to and get insight on how they got where they are and how they're living out their values as Problematic Women.

Being Your Own “Soulmate” through Self-Partnering: Emma Watson, Lizzo, and Maslow’s Theory on Singleness Dec 05, 2019
    Show notes

Pro-Life Kids! is a new book created to teach and empower the next generation. Bethany Bomberger, an adoptive mother, educator, and the Executive director of The Radiance Foundation, created the book to highlight the value of every human being, before and after birth. We crown Bomberger as Problematic Women and interview her on what led to the creation of the book, her experience in the classroom, and her own pro-life journey.

    We also cover:

    • Emma Watson recently coined the term “self-partnering.” The term refers to being fulfilled in your singleness and Watson isn’t the only one pitching the idea — rapper Lizzo’s song “Soulmate” might as well be the idea’s anthem. We also breakdown a New York Times opinion piece that dissects this idea with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, complementarianism, and what this mindset means for marriage and society.
    • Appearing in the New York Times, “The Class of 2000 ‘Could Have Been Anything’” revealed shocking statistics and stories that show how personal and devastating drug addiction is in American families and communities.
    • Tim Allen speaks up against PC culture in an interview on The View. He says thought police are “an alarming thing for comedians.”
    • During the Ohio State vs. Michigan college football broadcast, announcer Gus Johnson shared that star J.K. Dobbins, the Ohio running back, was almost aborted.

    • The “Charlie’s Angels” movie reboot flops at the box office, and writer-director-star Elizabeth Banks blames it on sexism.

The Problem With Everything: Meghan Daum on Feminism, Social Media Culture, and #MeToo Nov 14, 2019
    Show notes

On today’s episode of “Problematic Women” we hear from author and journalist Meghan Daum. She is a columnist for Medium and the author of six books, including The Problem With Everything: My Journey Through the New Culture War. In an enlightening conversation, Daum discusses feminism, social media culture, #MeToo, and more.

    We also break down:

—Stanford students protest Ben Shapiro’s visit with a flyer that portrays him as a bug that needs to be exterminated. Students wrote, “We do not protest because we are too sensitive to hear opinions we don’t like. We protest because we are strong enough to defend ourselves.”

—Parents Magazine highlighted a post of a 4-year-old boy holding a sign that reads, “Some men have periods too.”

—We crown Nikki Haley as our Problematic Woman of the week and discuss her new book With All Do Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace.

Allie Stuckey on Millennials, Mentors and Motherhood Nov 07, 2019
    Show notes

This week on “Problematic Women,” we interview Allie Stuckey, The Conservative Millennial and host of the Relatable Podcast on BlazeTV. Stuckey discusses the spread of socialist ideology, her experiences on BlazeTV, the importance of mentors and how to balance a career with motherhood.

    We also break down:

    • Wendy Ullman, a Pennsylvania State Legislative Representative, calls early miscarriages and abortions “a mess on a napkin.”
    • John Legend rewrites “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to be more #MeToo appropriate.
    • HHS proposed a new rule that will reverse Obama Administration rulings that barred faith-based adoption and foster care agencies from receiving grants.
    • And we crown Dr. Michelle Cretella as our Problematic Woman of the Week. She is a pediatrician and executive director of the American College of Pediatricians. Her Daily Signal video on transgender issues and children was removed from YouTube. Why? Because her views against surgeries to alter children’s bodies “violated free speech policy.” Watch the video YouTube removed here.
