    Private Practice Success Stories

My name is Jena Castro-Casbon, MS CCC-SLP (of The Independent Clinician and The Private Practice Solution).

I am part of a group of private practitioners who have taken client care into our own hands.

We are skilled clinicians who pride ourselves on providing high-quality care to our clients and their families.

We are fighting against productivity requirements, administrative red tape and unnecessary restrictions.

We started our own private practices to take control of our professional and personal lives. Of our schedules. Of our incomes. Of our future.

We work hard for our clients but on our terms.

We believe in helping others – but also helping ourselves.

We’re not interested in competing with each other. We hope that we all make it.

We are successful private practitioners and these are our stories.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to this interview.

Don't Create a New Job You Hate Nov 28, 2020
    Show notes

Every now and then I tend to go back to old business books I’ve read to get a fresh perspective on them. In this episode, I am talking about a business lesson that I pulled from a book that I’ve read and how it correlates to how a lot of speech language pathologists feel about their 9 to 5 jobs. I talk about what this means for these practitioners who may be considering private practice and how I can help you bridge the gap and step into the vision you have for your private practice.

    What we discuss:

    • What I realized in rereading The E-Myth
    • The parallel of that lesson and how a lot of SLPs feel at their jobs
    • How great clinicians aren’t always great business people

In this episode, she shares how her student loans motivated her to make this decision, what a typical day in her practice looks like and her plans for the future. I really like Tia’s attitude and how she doesn’t look at obstacles as a set-back but instead figures out a way to overcome them.

    • What she did to put her plan of starting a private practice into motion
    • What her day to day life looks like within her practice

In this episode, I am sharing my thoughts on this idea that you need a niche for your private practice. You’ll hear why this isn’t the best logic for private practitioners to have as they’re getting their business started.
