    Chris and Derek look back at the year 2020 from a pop culture perspective. Chris debuts his new song, called "2020 Sucked Plenty" (which Derek thinks is Chris' best song ever!). The guys discuss 2020 TV shows, movies and how COVID was woven into pop culture. The guys also talk about celebrities we lost in 2020. For the trivia segment of the show, Chris asks Derek to identify if certain pop culture events happened in 2020 or not.

    Chris and Derek discuss Christmas traditions from a pop culture perspective. They talk about: TV Christmas specials, listening to Michael Buble songs, getting Whamboozled, watching christmas movies every year, "Die Hard", going to the movie theatre on Christmas Day, the "Star Wars" original trilogy, Christmas-themed TV shows, and Chris' favourite new Christmas tradition, listening to Winnipeg TV icons Henrietta and Myrna Neudorf sing "Go Tell it on the Mountain". For the trivia segment of the show, Chris asks Derek trivia questions about popular Christmas movies.


    Episode 163: “Raging Bull” (1980): Movie Review Dec 11, 2020

    This episode, Chris has Derek go back and watch Martin Scorsese's cinematic masterpiece "Raging Bull". Instead of breaking down the film scene-by-scene (like they usually do), the guys explore some of the themes of the film such as: the Italian-American experience, the 1980 Academy Awards (including who should have won several awards), black & white film, jealousy, toxic masculinity, boxing and the use of mirrors. For the trivia segment of the show, Derek quizzes Chris on Robert De Niro's film roles of the 1990's.

    Episode 162: “The People vs. Larry Flynt” (1996): Movie Review Dec 04, 2020

    This episode, Derek has Chris go back and watch the 1996 biopic "The People vs. Larry Flynt". The guys debate about the merits of the film in regard to: its comments on free speech, Woody Harrelson's performance, Milos Foreman's direction as well as a scene-by-scene breakdown of the movie. They also discuss the performances of Courtney Love and Edward Norton. Chris mentions several of the supporting cast, including James Carville and Richard Paul. The guys talk about some of the thematic elements of the film, including free speech, pornography and the legal issues brought up in the film. For the trivia segment of the show, Chris gives a list of real life people and Derek has to name the movie based on their life.


    Episode 161: TV Supporting Characters Nov 27, 2020

    Chris and Derek run down their personal top 5 favourite TV supporting characters of all time. Those characters that were meant to be more of a sidekick, but in some cases ended up as the breakout star of a TV show. The guys play a game called "TV Best Friends". Chris gives Derek the name of a 'best friend' and Derek has to name the major TV character associated with this friend.


    Episode 160: “The Rock” (1996): Movie Review Nov 20, 2020

    As part of their Sean Connery appreciation, Derek and Chris go back and watch the 1996 Michael Bay film, "The Rock" (this movie was nominated for the podcast by Derek). They discuss some aspects of the film's production, its performance at the box office and some behind-the-scenes trivia of the film. The guys also break the film down scene-by-scene. The guys play a game called "One Degree of Sean Connery". Chris gives a list of actors and Derek must name the film they starred in with Sean Connery.


    Episode 159: “Time Bandits” (1981): Movie Review Nov 13, 2020

    As part of their Sean Connery appreciation, Derek and Chris go back and watch the 1981 Terry Gilliam film, "Time Bandits" (this movie was nominated for the podcast by Chris). They discuss some aspects of the film's production, its performance at the box office and some behind-the-scenes trivia of the film. The guys also break the film down scene-by-scene. Chris unleashes the worldwide debut of his new song, appropriately titled "Pop Goes Your World" where he tries to show just how hip (??) he is. (Song starts at the 10:45 mark). Derek then quizzes Chris about dwarf actors in movies.


    Episode 158: Sean Connery’s Best Performances Nov 06, 2020

    Derek and Chris run down their Top 5 best Sean Connery movie performances. Since the movie icon passed away recently, the guys wanted to pay tribute to his legendary film career. Chris debuts his new song, which has a familiar lyric or two. The guys talk about their recent pop culture experiences and Chris shares his "Dad Joke of the Week". Chris then quizzes Derek by seeing if he can name the actors that played James Bond, by listing the movie titles.
