    Chris and Derek continue their look at films celebrating major milestone anniversaries this year. With the holidays around the corner, it was back over to Chris this week to suggest a Christmas-themed movie, so he decided to go back 40 years and watch "A Christmas Story" starring Peter Billingsley, Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon. The guys discuss the cast, scenes, box office and more. For the trivia segment of the show, Derek and Chris play a game of 'Pick the Flick' where Chris has to guess the title of movies with the word "Story" in the title.

With the holidays around the corner, it was back over to Derek this week to suggest a Christmas-themed movie, so he decided to go back 20 years and watch "Bad Santa" with Billy Bob Thornton. Chris hadn't seen the film before, so he comes in with a renewed perspective. The guys discuss the cast, scenes, box office and more. For the trivia segment of the show, the guys play a round of "Name That Tune". Chris gives lyrics to Christmas songs and Derek has to guess the song titles.

For the trivia segment of the show, Derek has Chris try to guess which literary novels have had the most movie adaptations.

For the trivia segment of the show, Chris gives Derek the year and synopsis of a movie and Derek must guess the title (all films have the word "love" in the title).

For the trivia segment of the show, Chris mentions the name of a 'wacky neighbor' character and Derek has to name the sitcom the character appeared in.

This week, it's a look back 35 years to Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice" starring Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin and Winona Ryder. Chris and Derek take a look at the box office, the cast, memorable scenes and more. For the trivia segment of the show, Derek has Chris try and name the films that Tim Burton and Danny Elfman have worked on together.

    This week, Chris and Derek take a look at movies that take place over the course of a day (or a 24-hour period). They each have put together a top 5 list of their favorite movies that use this plot device in the film. For the trivia segment of the show, Derek takes a seat in the 'Winner's Circle' of the "$100,000 Pyramid". Chris can only give lists and Derek must guess each category based on Chris' lists. It's a throwback to a Gen-X classic game show.

    This season on the podcast, Chris and Derek have been reviewing films celebrating milestone anniversaries. Even though it is only 5 years old, "Black Panther" is still celebrating a milestone. Chris had never seen this movie. The only MCU films he has seen are those that Derek has made him watch for the podcast. Where will this one rank? The guys talk about the box office from 2018, the cast, themes, behind-the-scenes trivia and more. For the trivia segment of the show, they play a game of 'Pick the Flick'. Chris gives Derek the year and film synopsis, Derek must guess the title of the film. All movies in the game have the word "Black" in the title.


    Episode 268: Stand-Up Comedy Sep 28, 2023
    Show notes

    Derek Myers and Chris McBrien take a look at stand-up comedy from a Millennial and Gen-X perspective, respectively. They discuss a brief history of stand-up comedy including its evolution into 'specials' and stand-up 'concert' films. They each run down their personal top 5 favourite stand-up comedy films. For the trivia segment of the show, Chris gives Derek quotes from stand-up routines and Derek has to guess the comedian associated with their quote.
