Yes, my name is Martha, and I tune into as many of your podcasts as I can, for your valuable information, I have a question regarding part time work previously, I thought that each year of part time service counted as a full year towards my years of principal service. But I was listening to a recent podcast by JT titled How to ensure all your years count towards credit creditable service and at around timestamp, four minutes and 14 seconds, he says something that goes against what I previously thought. So I have several years of part time work. I thought I could retire at my minimum retirement age and 30 years, even though I have all those years of part time work, as long as I paid FERS and FICA every year, of course, but he makes it sound like it's more of a proportional thing with the principal years of service. I do plan on hiring your company to do my retirement application processing, about a year before I retire, but now I'm not sure when I should be contacting you for that process of try and get some clarification. I just saw you guide to military service credit buybacks. I purchased 11 years back and it was the best decision I ever made! I didn't see something in your guide that I think is very important: There is a huge difference between a Reserve retirement and an Active Duty ( AKA Regular) retirement. As you state in your guide Active-duty retirees must choose between their federal and active-duty retirement. HOWEVER, Those that retire as a Reservist can keep BOTH their Reserve Military Retirment and their FERS military retirement. I did. All they will need to do is submit proof of their active duty time (usually verified by a DD 214). Now I find many of those Reservists I talk to are under the false impression that they can't receive both retirements, so they don't even try. I'd ask that you clarify for reserve retirees so they get their full benefit. Thanks for listening and thanks for what you do! - Rich

Can you do one on the military to civilian transition with regards to TSP and other issues, besides buying back time? I have both Roth and Traditional military accounts, and I assume they will be separate from the civilian ones. Will the Rule of 55 apply to my military TSP if I retire at 48 and immediately join the federal service? Finally, I plan on working about years and buying back 4 years of Academy time to earn a 11% pension. My plan is to stop working at 55 and then take the deferred pension at 62 for no penalty. Can I elect the deferred pension before my MRA? I know the big risk of deferred FERS pension is loss of FEHB, but since I have TRICARE and VA, I assume that's not a problem. FEHB disability pension & MRA Nov 29, 2023

I receive a FERS disability pension, with less than 10 years service. My minimum retirement age by year of birth is 57, but I only have 8.5 years of service, my urgent age is 59, and I also receive my prior military retirement. Since I have less than 10 years of service i was told my minimum retirement age for tax purposes is 62 years, is this correct? Before I got smart in 2019 and started funneling all of my TSP contributions to Roth, I had designated contributions into Traditional TSP. What is a good strategy when I start withdrawing? Ideally, I'd like to withdraw traditional contributions first, then Roth contributions at a later time (so the Roth balance can continue to grow tax-free).
