That’s now five straight losses for the Philadelphia 76ers (15-25) after falling to the Indiana Pacers (24-19) on Saturday night, 115-102. Tyrese Maxey guided the shorthanded Sixers with a game-high 28 points, received scoring and rebounding help from Kelly Oubre Jr. (18) and Ricky Council IV (18), plus surprising contributions off the bench from rookie big man Adem Bona with a ton of energy and effort. The 76ers trailed by as many as 11 in the first half but fought back to cut the lead to two at halftime and held a five-point advantage in the third, but the Pacers were just too much as they rebuilt a 16-point cushion in the third and were able to hold onto the win.

The PHLY Sixers crew breaks down Philadelphia's 25th loss of the season that puts them ten games under .500.

    Show notes

Despite huge second half performances from Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, which helped pull the Sixers back from 16 points down to force overtime, the Sixers fell to the New York Knicks 125-119 in overtime. The loss, Philadelphia’s 4th in a row, drops the Sixers to 15-24 on the season.

Tyrese Maxey had an incredible second half, scoring 27 points after intermission, including the game-tying bucket with two seconds left in regulation to force OT. Maxey finished the night with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss. Paul George added 26 points and 6 assists. For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 38 points, and Josh Hart added 10 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists for the triple double.

With no Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Caleb Martin, the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers (15-23) battled until the final whistle against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and the Oklahoma City Thunder (33-6), ultimately falling 118-102. Two-way rookie Justin Edwards led the undermanned Sixers with a career-high 25 points, connecting on four of his nine tries from beyond. Down by as many as 21 points, the 76ers cut it four early in the fourth, but OKC turned it up to pull away. Join the PHLY Sixers team as they break down the upcoming schedule, and react to today’s press conference where Mayor Parker announced the plans for a new arena in South Philadelphia, a joint development between the Sixers and Comcast which will house both the Sixers and the Flyers.

Tyrese Maxey struggles in second half as Sixers blow lead to Orlando Jan 13, 2025

Paul George’s second-half flurry was not enough in the Sixers’ loss to the Magic, with the star wing fouling out and leaving it to Tyrese Maxey to close the game. George finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists before he watched from the sideline while Paolo Banchero closed the game out.

The PHLY Sixers podcast discusses another dispiriting loss for Philadelphia, and Nick Nurse’s role in their ineptitude.

PHLY Sixers Postgame: Another ugly loss for 76ers; CJ McCollum nets 38 for Pels Jan 11, 2025
    Show notes

In their three-game homestand finale, the Philadelphia 76ers (15-21) fall to the New Orleans Pelicans, 123-115. The Pelicans (8-31) led at the end of each of the first three frames thanks to a balanced team effort that was guided by veteran guard CJ McCollum's 18 points in the opening quarter. McCollum was amazing, finishing with a game-high 38.

Tyrese Maxey had a nice overall game for the Sixers finishing with 30 points, 12 assists and six rebounds, but it wasn't enough to get the win for the home team. Paul George was in foul trouble in the first half with three personals that forced him to the bench -- George ended the night with 25, a game-high 11 rebounds and five assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 21 and seven boards. Philadelphia will head to Orlando on Sunday for a matchup with the Magic.

The PHLY Sixers crew reacts to a frustrating defeat that ends the homestand with a 1-2 record.

    Show notes

The Philadelphia 76ers (15-20) are back in the win column after a nail-biting win over the Washington Wizards (6-29) on Wednesday night, 109-103. Guerschon Yabusele started at center and had the game-saving block for the 76ers with under 20 seconds to play and continues to show his value to the team, also knocking down five 3s en route to 21 points, and collecting eight rebounds. After shooting just 3-13 from the field and 1-10 from beyond in the first half for eight points, Tyrese Maxey dropped 14 in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 29 on the night. Maxey also handed out a team-high seven assists.

Kelly Oubre Jr. added 15 points, four boards, four assists and two steals. Eric Gordon got the start in the backcourt with Maxey and went 3 for 5 from long distance for 15 points overall. PHLY Sixers Postgame: 76ers' cold shooting night leads to loss to Suns Jan 07, 2025
    Show notes

The Philadelphia 76ers (14-20) had an awful shooting night and simply could not overcome the poor team percentage, multiple scoring droughts, missed free throws and the absence of Joel Embiid in their 109-99 loss to the Phoenix Suns (16-18). Back home after a 4-2 six-game trip, the Sixers led at the break by four but the Suns outscored the 76ers 36-27 in the third quarter to build a double-digit lead and did more than enough to secure the win.

Kelly Oubre was really good in his return, putting together a 26-point, 11-rebound double-double with Tyrese Maxey adding team-highs of 31 points and 10 assists. Guerschon Yabusele filled in for Embiid at center and totaled 14 points and 10 boards. Bradley Beal paced Phoenix in scoring with 25 off the bench including 13 in the third.

The PHLY Sixers crew breaks down what went wrong in Philadelphia's 10th home loss of the season.
