Ep. 51 - The Perfect Cast: Super Smash Bros Ultimate 2 (SilverScreen Archive) Feb 18, 2019

Show notes

This is the most prep we've ever done for an episode. We actually "researched stuff" and "played a lot of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" in preparation for our most perfect "Perfect Cast" ever. That's right. We cast every single character that appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and finally solved the mystery of who's behind Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Even if you haven't played the game, you still probably know a third of these characters, so jump on in! Spoilers: Super Smash Bros Ultimate I guess...

Inspired by: Super Smash Bros

Starring: Emily Blunt, Ryan Reynolds, and Ben Schwartz with glorified cameos from over 70 other actors and actresses

Ep. 50 - Sundance: The Strangest Thing (SilverScreen Archive) Feb 08, 2019

Show notes

It's about time that Bryan and Houston represent their Utah heritage with its presitigous film history. The pair return from their questionable experience at Sundance Film festival and decide to do something they rarely ever do on their movie podcast: discuss movies. We talk about the top six films at the festival and share our thoughts on what we took away from the first cuts. However, full disclosure, it's probably not the best critiques to listen to if you are trying to get a legitimate take on these indie-darlings. Spoilers: None Featured Film: The Strangest Thing Inspired by: The Sundance Film Festival Directed by: Samuel L. Jackson Starring: Adam Driver and Finn Wolfhard Tagline: Hey, we did an original film for once!

Ep. 49 - Bandersnatch 2: Normal Tuesday Night (SilverScreen Archive) Jan 26, 2019

Show notes

Yeah, we jumped on the choose your own adventure train and did a Bandersnatch. But not like you'd think. We didn't make some kind of fancy branching podcast where the listener can choose their own adventure. Houston just made Bryan choose his way through a story without telling him what it was. And since we have an actual surprise in this episode, I'm actually going to just stop talking now so I don't spoil it. Spoilers: None Featured Movie: Bandersnatch 2: Normal Tuesday Night Inspired by: Bandersnatch Directed by: Houston Bodily Starring: Zach Galifianakis, Zendaya, Wil Wheaton, Tom Felton, and 1 more character Tagline: Quiet, quiet

Ep. 48 - The Every Man (Y2K Special) (SilverScreen Archive) Jan 11, 2019

Show notes

We all lived in fear of the technological disaster coming at the end of 1999, but didn't even see the technological disaster awaiting our podcast at the end of 2018 where we lost 2 episodes. But we're back and better than ever. In honor of our own personal Y2K, we did a 1999 vs. 2000 showdown and ended up making some kind of Fight Club/The Family Man mashup. Who even knows at this point? Happy New Year. Spoilers: Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, Memento Featured Movie: The Every Man Inspired by: The Family Man Directed by: David Lynch Starring: Nicolas Cage, Tea Leone, Russell Crowe, Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Haley Joel Osment Tagline: Really Live!

Ep. 45 - The Good, The Bad, and The Prequels: The First Hunger Games (Feat. Cavan Helps) (SilverScreen Archive) Dec 06, 2018

Show notes

With the help of self-proclaimed prequel cynic Cavan Helps, we set out to make the ultimate sequel that even he can enjoy. After discussing the highs and lows of prequels in cinematic history, we finally settle on a Hunger Games prequel that sounds…pretty good, honestly...except for the fact that it's directed by the guy who directed Seven Pounds...despite that fact that it might not be a good fit. On the bright side, we got to make fun of people who play Fortnite even though Houston and Bryan definitely have played Fortnite. Spoilers: Undertale, The Cloverfield Paradox Featured Movie: The First Hunger Games (Feat. Cavan Helps) Inspired by: Hunger Games, The First Purge Directed by: Gabriele Muccino Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kiefer Sutherland, Ian McKellan, and Taylor Swift Tagline: We're going to ruin our country, to save our movie, to save our country.

Ep. 44 - Wii Robot U (SilverScreen Archive) Nov 21, 2018

Show notes

We get some help this episode from some new studio executives...who have never listened to the show. What results is a pretty sweet prequel to I, Robot…that explains the cause behind all of modern life's great mysteries--Facebook, Google, and why the Wii U sold so badly but then the Nintendo Switch did so well. Also Houston tries to make it be about sports and mostly fails. Spoilers: I Robot, American Horror Story: Season 2/Asylum Featured Movie: Wii Robot U Inspired by: I, Robot Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan Starring: Donald Glover, Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, Trey Smith, Trey from the ""My Name is Trey"" Vine, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Jordan, James Cromwell, NOT Will Smith, NOT Jaden Smith, Warwick Davis, James McAvoy, Leonardo DiCaprio Tagline: 29 Dreams Squared

Ep. 43 - The Untitled Thanksgiving Monster Movie (SilverScreen Archive) Nov 09, 2018

Show notes

Looks like we're expanding the holiday cinematic universe once again and there's no sign of stopping. This recording session is all a blur at this point; even while recording we weren't in our right minds because we couldn't even create a movie title. But I'm pretty sure it's a cross between The Grinch, Nightmare Before Christmas, and a Muppet Lift-the-Flap book. Also, there's something about Cranberries and Christopher Lloyd, but they are either 100% or not at all connected. Spoilers: Nightmare Before Christmas, How The Grinch Stole Christmas Featured Movie: The Untitled Thanksgiving Monster Movie Inspired by: Dr. Suess' The Grinch/The Nightmare Before Christmas Directed by: Henry Selick Starring: Ellie Kemper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Danny Elfman, and Christopher Lloyd Tagline: Much like Thanksgiving Stuffing, this movie looks very much like every Holiday's creative vomit baked together.

Ep. 42 - The Monster Book of Monsters (Feat. Travis Kingery) (SilverScreen Archive) Oct 26, 2018

Show notes

If you start listening to this episode and get excited by the prospect of a high budget reboot of the Disney Channel Original Movie, Halloweentown, I'm sorry to say we pull the rug out on that idea. Instead, Houston forces his will and we celebrate this incredibly spooky Halloween season by giving you one of the biggest frights of all: Another Harry Potter spinoff movie, but this time starring Disney Channel stars. But let's be real, seeing Actual-Cannibal Shia Labeouf in a movie can save any franchise. Spoilers: None Featured Movie: The Monster Book of Monsters Inspired by: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them/Halloweentown Directed by: David Yates Starring: Zac Efron, Shia Lebouf, Selina Gomez, Raven Simone, and Vin Disel Tagline: Family. It's a good thing. Family.

Ep. 41 - The Perfect Cast: The Clue 2 Kill Dr. Lucky (SilverScreen Archive) Oct 11, 2018

Show notes

We've been craving a new spooky, non-horror movie to celebrate the arrival of Halloween season, so we went ahead and made one. Legally, we have to say that this isn't a sequel to the 1985 cult classic movie Clue, but let's be honest--it kind of is. Here at SilverScreen Studios, we love playing the much less famous (but way more fun) board game, Kill Doctor Lucky, so we decided to make a movie based on that. Also, Jerry Seinfeld plays the butler, so how can you not enjoy this movie? Spoilers: Clue, Murder on the Orient Express Featured Movie: The Clue 2 Kill Dr. Lucky Inspired by: Clue Directed by: Wes Anderson Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Keegan-Michael Key, Jim Gaffigan, John Mulaney, Sarah Silverman, Norm MacDonald, and Jerry Seinfeld Tagline: It's not just a game anymore... It's two games!

Ep. 40 - Harris Bueller's Day Out (SilverScreen Archive) Sep 27, 2018

Show notes

Creativity never rests, but people certainly do. As Bryan excitedly prepares for his trip to Chicago by revisiting the Windy City classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Houston stumbles through the episode in his sleep-deprived state just waiting for it to be done. When all said and done though, being filled with sharks, Charlie Sheen (who we refer to as Martin Sheen), and an infamous serial killer known as the Pittsburgh Poisoner, this is one movie sequel you don't want to sleep on. Spoilers: None Featured Film: Harris Bueller's Day Out Inspired by: Ferris Bueller's Day Off Directed by: Dan Fogelman Starring: Eric Eisenhower, Alan Ruck, and Jennifer Grey Tagline: One man's struggle to make another man's struggle easier
