Paul Saladino MD podcast – Paul Saladino, MD

Throughout my training and practice as a physician I have come to one very disappointing conclusion: Western medicine isn’t helping people lead better lives. Now that I’ve realized this, I’ve become obsessed with understanding what makes us healthy or ill. I want to live the best life I can and I want to be able to share this knowledge with others so that they can do the same. This podcast is the result of my relentless search to understand the roots of chronic disease. I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

    87. The Omega-6 Apocalypse, are seed oils to blame for diabetes, heart attacks, and chronic disease ? Jan 11, 2021
    Show notes

Dr. Knobbe began his practice of ophthalmology in 1994, after completing his residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, in Denver, Colorado, USA. He was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1997 and has remained board-certified since then.

Eye physician and surgeon, Chris A. Knobbe, MD, had been in practice nearly 20 years when, in 2013, he asked himself the question, “Could macular degeneration be a ‘Westernized disease’? Could AMD be a disease that is the result of a Westernized diet?” That question would forever change his life.

The hypothesis that Dr. Knobbe would proffer holds that macular degeneration, which is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss and blindness in developed nations, is not only preventable but treatable in the early to moderate stages, with an ancestral diet.

Controversial thoughts: Which alcohol is the least toxic? And how to fix a hangover! Dec 30, 2020
    Show notes

    Happy New Year to all!

I’m not a drinker, but I know there are many who will be enjoying alcohol to celebrate the end of this crazy year, and the beginning of one we all hope will be a bit better than 2020.

If you’re going to imbibe at New Years or any other time, what’s the least toxic sauce to consume? Find out in this Controversial Thoughts video along with why alcohol causes a hangover and what you can do to mitigate it prior and ameliorate it once it’s besieged you. Hint: these answers may have to do with things I’ve discussed before like avoiding toxic seed oils to limit lipid peroxidation in your liver from alcohol byproducts, and making sure to get enough nutrients into your diet on a daily basis to optimize your glutathione and NAD/NADH statuses.

If you’re looking to lose weight, or kick more ass in 2021 you should join us at Heart & Soil for our 30 day animal based reset in January. Go to www.AnimalBased30.com to sign up and become part of the tribe that will be starting off the new year right! Controversial Thoughts: Should you include dairy on your Animal-Based diet? Dec 18, 2020
    Show notes

In short, yes (as long as you tolerate it)!

Milk, yogurt, butter, ghee and colostrum are amazing sources of nutrients that have been highly valued by many indigenous groups for millenia. Dairy has a long tradition in Northern Europe, and among hunter-gatherer groups like the Maasai, or historically among groups like the Mongols (think warriors whose diets were basically milk, meat, and organs).

Dairy isn’t for everyone, and some may have issues with lactose (a deficiency on the lactase enzyme), or the casein and whey proteins within it. Personally I can’t tolerate dairy, but I am incredibly jealous of all of you who can because it’s delicious and nutrient-rch.

In this controversial thoughts video I discuss evidence linking dairy with cancer (most observational studies suggest an inverse correlation, i.e. higher intakes are associated with better outcomes), most of which suggests dairy is totally safe. I also discuss colostrum (the immunoglobulin-rich first milk from mammals) in detail. This stuff is chocked FULL of unique peptides, immunoglobulins, and growth factors that aid in gut healing, wound healing, and immune fortification.

Colostrum has even been studied in comparison to flu vaccinations in small studies and found to be just as effective at preventing influenza. More research is needed here but the findings from at least two studies are intriguing.

If you have questions about dairy in your diet, this video is for you! #theremembering

Controversial Thoughts: Think red meat causes cancer? Think again! The full breakdown with Ivor Cummins Dec 11, 2020
    Show notes

I get the “doesn’t red meat cause cancer” question ALL. THE. TIME. What better way to address it yet again (there’s a whole chapter about in my book, The Carnivore Code), than with my man, Ivor (see multiple previous podcasts including a recent debunk of the COVID response- Fundamental Health).

In this extra nutrient dense edition of controversial thoughts we address the WHO (looking mighty sketch these days), TMAO, neu5gc, and much more about how we’ve been misled regarding meat and cancer. Watch/listen/learn and never again not have an answer for your clueless friend who thinks meat causes cancer.

Red meat and organs have been at the center of the human diet for millions of years. They are also the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet. Does it make even one iota of sense that they would cause harm to us? Nope. Welcome to #theremembering.

If you need more nose to tail nutrition in your life, check us out at heartandsoil.co. Our newest product, Heart of the Warrior just released today, and our grass-fed colostrum (the immunoglobulin rich first milk from mammals), Immunomilk, will be available next week!
