    Pat and Stu 2/23/17 - Hour 1 Feb 23, 2017
    Show notes

-This morning we sadly learned that Fox News political commentator and former Hannity and Colmes co-host, Alan Colmes, has passed away. He was 66 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
-Stu brings up Ellen Degeneres' statement on the latest White House statement on transgender bathroom rules and explains how he would like it to be a state matter rather than a federal issue. Pat wonders why only the feelings of the transgender individual matter during this time and how everyone else is practically excluded from the debate.
-Democratic Representative Keith Ellison stated that President Trump should have been impeached on the first day of his presidency, even though he has not done anything bad. Stu talks about Keith Ellison’s tweet about President Trump being anti-Semitic and how Ellison should not be saying things like that.
-Stu reports that the 100 protesters who refused to leave the Dakota Access Pipeline area destroyed the land they camped in. Is the protest really about the pipeline or just a chance to protest for no reason? The guys wonder how big are the spills from these pipelines? Surprisingly the statistics show that they're not really that big of a deal with a few rare exceptions. Pat mentions how there is an oil spill every day on the ocean floor that just occurs naturally.
-We have an update on the balloon currently floating on the high ceiling in Stu's house. Having floated upward during last month's baby shower for Stu's sister-in-law, it has now been up there for 34 days straight. Simply put, it doesn't look like it's coming down anytime soon. Stu talks about the day he got the balloon and how the store attendant said to a woman that a balloon she purchased will not last even one day... we beg to differ.
-The guys talk about how astronomers have discovered seven new planets orbiting a distant star. These planets range in size from that of Mercury to that of Earth. Pat makes a mistake on which telescopes are used for such findings, and as you guess, Stu steps in to save him. They discuss how long each planet takes to travel around its sun and how some of them fall within the "Goldilocks Zone" to sustain water and possibly life.
-Stu likes the new Philadelphia soda and sugary drinks tax because he thinks that it will convince other cities not to do it. Pat talks about a time when he lived in Montana and how people would drive to the Native American reservations to buy cigarettes because a new tax that was driving up prices.
-Stu mentions that people will go to other places to get the items that they want using the city of Irving, Texas and local liquor stores as an example.
They also talk about one of their favorite soda companies Hanks Soda, which is based in Philadelphia and how the tax is affecting them.
-The guys talk about how the Mets are paying former player Bobby Bonilla, $6 million dollars because they were caught up in Bernie Madoff's infamous ponzi scheme.
-Matt Damon, the star of the new film ‘The Great Wall’, is not a believer in walls... just like he's not too fond of guns... go figure...
-Serial baby killer (a.k.a. incarcerated abortion provider) Kermit Gosnell, has written to actor Will Smith asking for help because he helped deliver Smith as a baby.

    Pat and Stu 2/23/17 - Hour 2 Feb 23, 2017
    Show notes

-The guys talk about how Huffington Post Lifestyle journalist Jane Seo was disqualified from a half marathon because her timing chip was showing unusually fast times in the latter half of the race. It was revealed that she had indeed cheated and she has since apologized. It turns out that a man who is paid to ensure fairness in running, Jarred Rudder, was shown a photo of her at the finish line with the odd times showing on her watch. Stu asks why make a bigger deal about it than what it really is?
-HOVERBIKE!!! Yes, a Russian company has built a prototype flying machine ridden by a human like a motorcycle. But is it too good to be true? Are its rotors too dangerous? Why doesn't it look like a speeder from 'Return of the Jedi'?
-Another crowdfunded invention: the "Airport Jacket" that is capable of holding 33 lbs of stuff. Pat is most certainly not buying it, as it appears bulky, dangerous, and very hot.
-Glenn Beck joins the program with his round table discussion about the signers the Declaration of Independence whom you may not have heard of.
Examples Stephen Hopkins, struggled with writing his name because he had either a stroke or Parkinson's disease, which was not known during that time.
-George Wythe, the man who taught Thomas Jefferson law, later met an untimely end and inadvertently exonerated his own killer.
-Charles Carrollton was the last surving signer of the Declaration of Independence. He died at 95 years old, far exceeding the average life expectancy of his day and age. He gave much of his fortune to help with spreading Christianity in his home state.
-The guys talk about actors and actresses who misplaced their Oscars and wonder why they should even care given their circumstances. Stu is puzzled that Whoopi Goldberg got an Oscar and she is also an E.G.O.T. (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony winner)
-The legendary Marlon Brando stated in his autobiography “I didn’t know what happened to the Oscar I won.” Others on the infamous list include Jeff Bridges and (almost) Colin Firth. In this bit it is also reveled that Jeffy wants to be a bathroom attendant...
-The guys eat new Blueberry Pancake Crunch cereal in the latest edition of SPOONS! Pat and Stu give it extremely high ratings while Jeffy is still unsure.

QUICK HIT: Trump Vs Transgenders Feb 23, 2017
    Show notes

Stu brings up Ellen Degeneres' statement on the latest White House statement on transgender bathroom rules and explains how he would like it to be a state matter rather than a federal issue. Pat wonders why only the feelings of the transgender individual matter during this time and how everyone else is practically excluded from the debate. They bring up how Barack Obama only issued his executive order on the issue during his last year in office and how he threatened to take away federal funding to schools that would not allow transgender children to use the bathroom that corresponds with their chosen gender identity.

FULL: The Statue of "Refugee" - 2/22/17 Feb 22, 2017
    Show notes

-Pat and Stu ponder Donald Trump’s inaction on immigration policies enacted by the Obama Administration. Why didn’t Trump take action on day one in office after running a campaign focused on enforcing immigration laws that had been ignored? Has he gone back to his democratic roots and gone down the path of “comprehensive immigration reform”? Pat explains that such reform undoubtedly means amnesty to illegal immigrants.
-New York police are on the hunt for four activists who mounted a “Refugees Welcome” banner on the Statue of Liberty. The only lead they reportedly have is that one of the four is named “David”. So, if you know a “David” living in the Tri-State area, call NYPD now! (Actually, please do not do that.)
-Venezuela has continued to plummet into chaos as its socialist policies have led to its starving citizens taking on a “Maduro” diet and eating flamingos to stay alive. The guys wonder if the birds taste like cotton candy… In all seriousness though, 82 percent of Venezuelans live below the poverty line, so we can pretty clearly discern that things have only gotten worse since the death of Hugo Chavez.
-The Trump Administration has announced that they will lift federal transgender bathroom guidelines. Exactly what this means is still uncertain, but Pat and Stu agree that it is probably good news for conservatives who either champion the states’ right to choose or a policy of “the gender of your junk” (Stu’s exact words).
-President Trump is a very well-spoken man… sort of… Okay, maybe he isn’t. While visiting the new African-American History Museum in Washington, the President allegedly looked upon a slave auction block from Maryland and was quoted as saying, “Boy, that is just not good. That is not good.” On a pair of shackles, he supposedly remarked, “Boy, that is really bad. That is really bad.” Well, he’s not wrong.
-Major League Baseball pitchers no longer have to throw four pitches for an intentional walk. Now all the umpire needs is a signal from the dugout to send the batter to first base. The guys agree that this isn’t messing with tradition too much. They can’t say the same for the idea of giving both teams a free runner on second in extra innings to help shorten games.
-A Massachusetts school district has halted a program that had police officers high-five students as they entered school. The rationale behind this action is that “some students might not be comfortable with police presence at the beginning of the day.” Pat, Stu, and Jeffy agree that we should have more of these programs in place to promote trust of such authority figures.
-“Illegal Aliens” or “Undocumented Immigrants”? What is the proper way to address the millions of immigrants who have entered this country without proper authorization? According to the AP Stylebook, the only term to use is “Undocumented Immigrants." Stu makes the claim that "Illegal Aliens" sounds like these people actually entered the country illegally (which they did), whereas "Undocumented Immigrants" sounds like they are documented, but just left their papers at home.
-Glenn Beck joins the program to tell the story of Booker T. Washington's emancipation from slavery and subsequent rise to prominence within the African-American community. Glenn implores listeners to read 'Up from Slavery', which eliminates all doubt about what sort of man Washington really was.
-Why do cartoon characters wear gloves? The reason is not racism, as was surmised on a previous episode. The reason is that these humanized versions of animals required additional contrast to be seen properly in grainy, black-and-white footage.
-The guys eat and rate new salsa and queso-flavored chips in the latest edition of SPOONS! And this might just be the most split verdict in recent memory.

Has he gone back to his democratic roots and gone down the path of “comprehensive immigration reform”? Pat explains that such reform undoubtedly means amnesty to illegal immigrants. Simply put, we need to allow “dreamers” to enter this country legally WITHOUT just ignoring the issue that millions of people have crossed our borders illegally.
-New York police are on the hunt for four activists who mounted a “Refugees Welcome” banner on the Statue of Liberty. The only lead they reportedly have is that one of the four is named “David”. Exactly what this means is still uncertain, but Pat and Stu agree that it is probably good news for conservatives who either champion the states’ right to choose or a policy of “the gender of your junk” (Stu’s exact words). We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, this issue is all about privacy and respect, which we should already have plenty of.
-A constitutional amendment guaranteeing each person a private bathroom? We’ve got unanimous support here in the studio!
But that’s your President, boys and girls!
-In Pat and Stu’s lifetimes, there has been one Republican president who was well spoken: Reagan. Meanwhile, the Democrats have had Clinton and Obama, both excellent communicators. However, they also had Anthony Weiner, who was way too good at communicating…

-If you don’t have a spouse, why not live in the building you work at? Pat and Stu tell some hilarious stories from their past in radio and explain which of their comrades were fans of Popeye's biscuits.
-Glenn Beck joins the program to tell the story of Booker T. Washington's emancipation from slavery and subsequent rise to prominence within the African-American community.
