DP is back with another great episode and picking the brain of Shane Harris. Shane is a California native. He grew up and attended college in New Mexico earning a degree in Communication and Advertising. He then moved to Colorado for 10 years before settling down in Florida where he works as a designer and illustrator. His decade long career landed various jobs among nonprofit, agencies, churches. He now works in-house at Medi-Share, a Christian HealthCare Ministry, where he combines his faith in God and talents daily to serve their members.
The camaraderie between Shane and DP began at Creative South. Creative South is a design conference where individuals come together from different parts of the world to network, support each other and foster ongoing relationships. Their slogan, “Come as friends, leave as family,” is not just great words put together, but an indication of the creator’s desire for everyone to feel accepted, supported and loved. Shane and Darold break down their experiences at the conference, touching on being able to not only meet like-minded individuals but participating in the worship services that the Christian organization leads. Listen as these two swap stories about their Creative South as well as what they are looking forward to at the next event. Happy Listening!

On the latest episode of PBTA, Darold introduces us to Erica Pinto. Her creative gift comes in the form of calligraphy and she makes her living as a lettering artist.
Erica attended a creative arts high school, but her journey took root in 2015. After the birth of her second son, she decided to get back into drawing with her husband. She drew inspiration from others within the art community on Instagram. Those early attempts at drawing letters and posting them online later resulted in requests for custom pieces.
What Erica labels a hobby, has allowed her to make revenue from teaching classes, selling workbooks and creating custom lettering for several companies. She has plans to go further with teaching by allowing online courses for those unable to physically attend her classes.
Throughout the interview, you see where her passion lies. You can hear it when she describes what it took to get her where she is currently and what she has her sights set on for the future. She offers advice that can help you at every step of your own personal creative journey as well. Don’t take my word for it though, listen for yourself. Happy Listening!

“Never underestimate the ability of your kids to understand something as intangible as empathy might seem because they really can understand a lot of it and they can also teach us a lot about it too. Don’t underestimate the power of a kid.” - Beth Stafford
“If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do, let people know you want to do it...It will lead to other things that are really great.” - Jeremy Slagle
---
For this episode, DP sat down with the dynamic duo, Beth Stanford and Jeremy Slagle. The partnership started when after doing a podcast together, Jeremy expressed his desire to illustrate a children’s book. During that conversion, Beth realized Jeremy’s vision was in synch with the one she had for her book. Thus began a business partnership, and, more importantly, a friendship.
The books they produce have a great message. Prompted by the great qualities Beth observed in her daughter, she wrote Chin Up Chinchilla, which deals with having empathy for others. The second one, Hip Hooray Hippo, touches on about being happy for others, even if it’s something you desire for yourself.
In this episode, you’ll get to listen in as they recount how they took their concepts and made them a reality, how they overcame their struggles and the people they celebrate for helping and encouraging them on their creative journey. Happy Listening!

DP is back again with another great interview. He talks with Will Harris. You will get to know more about him as a husband, father, copywriter and content marketing manager at Real Thread in this interview. His creative journey began “late” in life. After contemplating other fields, he would end up choosing advertising, with a concentration in copywriting, as his major in college. It was during this time that he would begin to label himself as a creative.
As he speaks, his passion can be heard. He talks about his love of writing and how his personal conviction to be authentically allowed him to produce his best work. His style of communication puts on target with Real Thread’s mission statements as they seek to serve people in a relaxed environment.
Will speaks about his wife and how her support was key in helping him get over the personal struggle of being confident with the work he produces. You’ll get to hear him discuss, work versus worth and how that thought process served as an additional confidence booster. You definitely do not want to miss out on what he has to say. You get to hear all that as well as hear his answers to DP’s fun questions. Happy listening!
