Muses Ep 125: Interview with Ginger Gilmour Feb 20, 2020
    Show notes

Today, we bring you our conversation with Ginger Gilmour, a true artist andauthor of Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon. We read Ginger’s book and discussed it back in episode 56 and since then, we have been wanting to speak with her personally. Today is the day!

Ginger met David Gilmour of Pink Floyd in 1971. They were married from 1975 until 1990 and have four children together. But like all of the incredible women we speak with, Ginger is multifaceted. Not only is she an author, she is a sculptor, light worker, mentor and will be hosting Creativity Classes “where creativity touches the heart and nourishes the spirit”. If you’re one of the lucky few to take classes with Ginger, you may be painting or sculpting but you'll most certainly be in the presence of this really peaceful and spiritual being.

Ginger is a true storyteller and speaks about her experience on tour with Pink Floyd, her health journey, favourite places she has travelled and what it was like spending time with George and Olivia Harrison in their gardens at Friar Park.

Ginger welcomes anyone to reach out and ask her questions. One way of doing that is by sending her an email, inquiries@gingerart.net You can also leave her comments on her Facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/gingergilmourbook/ or https://www.facebook.com/GingerGilmour.GingerArt/

In the meantime, you can find Ginger on her website www.gingerart.net and we highly recommend that you pick up a copy of her book Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon. You can sign up to be on the waitlist for one of her Creativity Courses by going to her website. Enjoy the show!

Highway Hi-Fi Ep. 66: Who is Kevin Coyne? Feb 19, 2020
    Show notes

Kevin Coyne released over 40 albums in the course of his 35-year career. He would be hailed and championed by the likes of John Peel, Richard Branson, Johnny Rotten, the Mekons, Sting, and Will Oldham. He unceremoniously rejected an offer from Elektra Records to be the dead Jim Morrison’s replacement in the Doors, quipping that he didn’t like leather pants. He wrote scores of songs about the fringes of humanity dealing with mental illness and addiction with empathy and poise that few could match in even a single song. He penned bizarre operas and theme albums about nefarious characters including the notorious mobsters, the Kray Brothers, subversive comedian Frank Randle, the evil-incarnate Moor Murderers, and the acid-damaged Syd Barrett.

And he would remain known as someone who is famously unknown.

Rock Candy Ep. 106: Tricky - Actual Murder Feb 19, 2020
    Show notes

One of the most original artists of our time, Tricky is a pioneer of the Trip Hop movement, helping to shape modern music into the sounds we know today. A shy and genuine guy who was more interested in experimenting on new tracks than he was on being famous, Tricky has lived a very interesting life. From his childhood growing up in the council estates of Bristol, to seeing the beginnings of success with massive Attack, to moving around the world in search of new adventures. Everything has a story, even how he developed his signature sound (and you probably wont be able to guess it). Luck may play a huge part in Tricky's story, but so does creativity and ingenuity.

The Imbalanced History Of Rock And Roll: Sibling Rivalries - The Everly Brothers Feb 17, 2020
    Show notes

When it comes to who Mom liked best, which kid got the better stuff, who's older, etc., Rock And Rollers aren't much different than the average family. Since the 1950's there have been many examples of creative siblings fighting their way to the top. Arguably, this quirk began with Don & Phil, The Everly Brothers!

No Filler: Lush Heaviness: - The Immersive Sound Textures of KILN Feb 17, 2020
    Show notes

Next up on our batch of episodes devoted to the wide world of electronic music, we take a left turn and listen to a couple of tracks from the ambient-electronic trio KILN. By manipulating live instrumentation (treated guitars, sampled drums) with field recordings and other found sounds, KILN create lush and immersive soundscapes that borderline on hallucinogenic, and masterfully walk the line between organic, acoustic and electronic music. Grab a nice set of headphones for this episode!

    Tracklist

    1. Kiln - Lux (RPF Rebuild)
    2. Fibreforms - Untitled Bright Format
    3. Kiln - Hong
    4. Kiln - Season
    5. Akira Yamaoka - The Reverse Will
    6. Moses Sumney - Virile

I'm In Love With That Song: Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians - Airscape Feb 16, 2020
    Show notes

A Robyn Hitchcock song is so unique, it could only come from the mind of Robyn Hitchcock. From his first recordings with The Soft Boys in the '70's through to his solo work today, Robyn is a singular artist with a vision all his own. This is a track from my favorite Hitchcock album, Element Of Light.
