Rock Candy Ep. 123: Guilty Pleasures - Hashtag Glowed Up Jun 18, 2020
    Show notes

We all got em- guilty pleasure songs! The tunes you bop to when no one is looking. It's just about summer time, which is a perfect time to dig up music that you never wanted anyone to see on your playlist. This week we got together and discussed our favorite shame-filled songs, despite how much respect you will arguably lose for us. We really run the spectrum of genres here, from emo to techno, it gets pretty embarrassing. Get a pretty good idea of what we were like in college and how we, and some of the artists, have changed throughout the past dozen years.

No Filler: Sidetrack: Mutoid Man Jun 16, 2020
    Show notes

On this week's Sidetrack episode, we listen to Cave In frontman Stephen Brodsky's side project, Mutoid Man. Unlike the polished sound that Cave In achieved with Antenna, the music of Mutoid Man (freed from the constraints of a major label) is Brodsky unchained. An excellent blend of psychedelic and stoner rock, Mutoid Man is a crank up and tune out type of band that is unlikely to disappoint.

    1. Mutoid Man - Gnarcissist
    2. Mutoid Man - Reptilian Soul
    3. Mutoid Man - Lost In The Hive
    4. The Mercury Program - Traveling At Night
    5. Every Time I Die - Ebolarama
    6. Cave In - Shapeshifter

The Imbalanced History Of Rock And Roll: Women In Rock And Roll, Phase 2 Jun 15, 2020
    Show notes

The Foundation of Women In Rock (And, yes, Roll!) was explored in a previous episode. This week, The Imbalanced Brothers move forward for the next phase, or Phase 2, if you will. Through the 1960's and into the '70s, women made a bigger noise in music across the board. Even in the boys club of Rock And Roll. There's more to the story, and undoubtedly more about this slice of life, than is covered in this release.

    I'm In Love With That Song: 57 on '57 Jun 15, 2020
    Show notes

This being Episode # 57, I thought it would be fun to revisit '57 -- as in the year 1957. With the loss of Little Richard recently, virtually all of the early pioneers of Rock 'n' Roll are gone now, so let's take a look back at the music and the musicians behind rock's first big year.

This episode was also inspired by the book "The History Of Rock & Roll, Volume 1" by Ed Ward. Most of the research, facts & figures came from this excellent book, and I highly recommend it. You can find it here:

    https://www.amazon.com/History-Rock-Roll-1920-1963/dp/125007116X/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?dchild=1&keywords=edward+history+of+rock+and+roll+volume+1&qid=1589486282&s=books&sr=1-2-fkmr0

There's also an audiobook version available.
