Ep 112 - It Passes the Time (Simply Eves) Jun 26, 2017
    Show notes

We open the show with a quick Arlington Geography discussion. It would not be a summer PTN episode if we did not discuss the weather, and at (6:22) we talk running in the heat and what you can do to improve the experience. At (14:45) we are joined by our baking phenom guest Simply Eves, who brings in five different types of cookies for the first ever PTN bake off cookie rankings. We also discuss the Pacers 14th street fun runs, a little podcast called Pace the Nation, and running relays. At (38:53) we veer out of our lane to talk about real current events, as we discuss the tragic Otto Warmbier news. At (48:00) Farley changes gears and talks about the boomerang social media trend, after which Farley is challenged to give up social media for the next week. Editors note, I wonder if he even managed to make it to the show posting. At (51:26) we talk Fathers Day, where Farley wishes that we could turn back the dial on social progress, Joanna and PBR celebrate with their fathers day tradition by running in the Major Race in a Miner Town, and Docs also celebrates fathers day. At (59:24) Farley makes an interesting observation while travelling to North Carolina. At (1:01:24) We touch on the USATF championships getting ready to start in Sac-town. At (1:12:20) A surprise guest crashes the podcast with our favorite kind of thing, a gift and at (1:14:13) we have a follow-up on some recent guests performances at high school nationals. We close out the show at 1:17:30, and if you keep listening you might hear some PTN Easter Eggs.

The guys need his expertise because the guests this week are, drum roll please…. National Class High School runners Brandon McGorty and Rachel McArthur! McGorty (Chantilly HS) and McArthur (Patriot HS) talk about running at their Northern Virginia High Schools, the process of choosing a college, some of their amazing performances over the years, mean mugging at a Washington Post photo shoot, and we even talk about McArthur’s boyfriend in a mostly not awkward way. We close the show by telling you 2 articles you must read about former guests and only make 1 mention about how hot it is in the studio (110 degrees).

Then Farley talks about books and bumps, Luigi visits the vet, the Capital Challenge and Docs is sad about the loss of Chris Cornell.
