Identifying Chronic Fatigue Quickly And Beating It Naturally

Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad:

In this episode of "Over 40 Fitness Hacks," host Brad Williams shares his personal struggle with chronic fatigue and how he managed to address it naturally. Brad begins by distinguishing between occasional fatigue caused by factors like lack of sleep, strenuous workouts, or mental exhaustion, and chronic fatigue, which persists for weeks or even months.

He highlights various potential causes of chronic fatigue, including metabolic and endocrine system issues, thyroid problems, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, infections, lung issues, medications, and more. Brad emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing these underlying issues, either through medical consultation or self-research.

Brad then delves into his own experience, revealing that his chronic fatigue was linked to a vitamin deficiency, specifically vitamin D. He discusses the sources of this essential vitamin, such as sunlight, fish, eggs, and mushrooms. Brad mentions that even though he took supplements, they weren't sufficient to combat his deficiency. He realized that he had been neglecting exposure to sunlight since moving to San Diego.

He shares how he took action by spending more time in the sun and saw significant improvements in his energy levels. Brad also provides valuable advice on optimizing caffeine intake to avoid energy crashes.

Throughout the episode, Brad emphasizes the importance of listening to one's body, conducting personal research, and making lifestyle adjustments to address chronic fatigue. He encourages listeners to stay engaged in their fitness journey, seek professional help when necessary, and maintain a balanced approach to health and wellness.

In conclusion, Brad underscores the significance of getting enough sunlight and vitamin D, not only for combating chronic fatigue but also for overall well-being. He urges everyone to take responsibility for their health and make informed choices to lead a more energetic and fulfilling life.

Enhancing Your Workouts with Transverse Abdominal Training

Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad:

In this podcast episode, Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks shares valuable insights on incorporating transverse abdominal exercises into your daily workout routine. Brad emphasizes the importance of being mindful during workouts and maximizing their effectiveness by increasing time under tension. He introduces the concept of working on the transverse abdominals, which are often overlooked but play a crucial role in core stability and appearance.

Brad explains that the transverse abdominals are a thin layer of muscle responsible for holding organs in place and providing a flatter appearance. He describes various exercises to target these muscles, including stomach vacuums, planks, active hollows, reverse planks, leg raises, and bird dog crunches, all of which require a focus on the stomach vacuum technique.

He encourages listeners to slow down their exercises and maintain mindfulness by engaging the transverse abdominals during every movement, even during common exercises like bench presses or deltoid flies. Brad highlights that this approach not only enhances muscle engagement but also burns more calories and aids in fat loss.

Ultimately, Brad's message centers on the idea that by working on these often-neglected muscles and incorporating mindfulness into your workouts, you can achieve better results, improve core stability, and enhance your overall fitness journey.

Brad Carlson shares his personal motivation for staying healthy, which includes a desire to live a long and active life, be there for his family, and even set a Guinness World Record as the oldest person on the planet. Both Brads emphasize the significance of having a "why" that is entirely focused on oneself before considering external factors like family or others.

The discussion covers three key pillars for achieving a healthier lifestyle: eat, think, and move. When it comes to eating, the emphasis is on natural foods, intermittent eating (based on hunger rather than set meal times), and metabolic conditioning to train the body to burn fat for fuel.

In terms of thinking, the hosts stress the importance of having a solid and personal "why" as the foundation for any health journey. They also discuss the significance of mindset and the need to focus on becoming a better version of oneself.

Finally, regarding movement, Brad Carlson explains his approach to staying active, which primarily involves walking for health and incorporating different walking variations for agility and coordination. He also mentions the value of occasional strength sessions.

The episode concludes with information on how to connect with Brad Carlson through his website, trainingwithcoachbrad.com, where listeners can find his social media, podcast, and wellness programs.

In this episode of the "Over 40 Fitness Hacks" podcast, host Brad Williams interviews fellow health coach and podcaster, Brad Carlson. The conversation revolves around the crucial role of mindset in achieving overall health and well-being.

The discussion starts with the idea that where the mind goes, energy flows, emphasizing that what you focus on, you ultimately become. The key insight shared is that many people often focus on losing weight as a means to become healthy, but the reverse should be true: focus on becoming healthy to achieve sustainable weight loss. This mindset shift, according to both Brads, is fundamental to successful health journeys.

The conversation delves into the importance of focusing on various aspects of life to improve overall health. Brad Carlson stresses the significance of generating positive energy and vibrations by focusing on desired outcomes. This shift in mindset involves concentrating on thriving, abundance, love, and happiness rather than dwelling on depression, anxiety, and stress.

Both Brads share personal experiences, highlighting the significance of adapting to changing circumstances and listening to one's body. Brad Williams discusses how his journey shifted from a focus on muscle preservation to prioritizing spinal health and overall well-being after a back injury. Brad Carlson emphasizes the importance of balance, mobility, flexibility, and agility as individuals age, pointing out that muscle mass alone won't ensure a healthy and independent future.

The discussion also addresses the idea of a "health retirement plan," emphasizing the need for daily investments in health to ensure a fulfilling and independent life as individuals age. It underscores the importance of starting the journey toward better health at any age.

The episode concludes with a reminder of the power of having a strong "why" and a higher purpose to drive one's health journey forward. Both hosts agree that a meaningful "why" is essential for sustaining positive changes and achieving long-term health and happiness.

He emphasizes the importance of self-discovery and getting to know oneself as the key to a sustainable wellness journey.

Brad Williams chimes in with his own journey, which he humorously calls "health to couch." In this podcast interview between Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness Hacks and Zeco Narado from The Matter Over Mind Experience, the two discuss the topic of fasting. Brad shares his personal journey with fasting, highlighting its positive impact on his health, including improved cholesterol levels. Zeco emphasizes that fasting is often misunderstood and should not be solely used for weight loss. Instead, he suggests that it provides essential rest for the digestive system, lowers inflammation and oxidative stress, and teaches the body to use stored energy.

Zeco explains that fasting has historical roots as our ancestors practiced it due to seasonal food availability. He also discusses the concept of cycling ketosis, where the body switches between using carbohydrates and fats as fuel sources. They recommend starting with a 12-hour fasting window (including sleep) for most individuals, gradually extending it as one becomes more comfortable.

Brad shares his experience with an 18-hour fasting window and a 6-hour eating window, emphasizing the importance of listening to one's body when determining the ideal fasting window. He refers to his approach as "dirty keto" or intermittent keto, occasionally indulging while maintaining ketosis.

Zeco stresses that fasting should be approached with caution, especially for those new to it, as it can lead to health issues if not done correctly. He highlights the importance of adjusting fasting windows based on individual needs, goals, and activity levels.

Finally, Zeco shares his current dietary and fasting routine, explaining that he adapts it to his bulking phase, demonstrating the flexibility of fasting as a lifestyle choice. He also discusses the benefits of consuming healthy carbs like berries before bedtime for improved sleep quality.

The conversation emphasizes the importance of adapting fasting practices to individual needs and goals, listening to one's body, and maintaining a balanced approach to health and nutrition. Zeco invites the audience to connect with him on Instagram and explore his podcast and YouTube channel for more health advice and insights. Brad expresses gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Zeco's expertise.

In this podcast interview, Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness Hacks interviews Zeco Narado from The Matter Over Mind Experience podcast. They delve into weight management and health tips, particularly focusing on the over 40 age group. Zeco emphasizes the importance of proper digestion, highlighting that our bodies are designed for weight management. However, as we age, this process can become more challenging.

Zeco discusses common issues, such as rushing through meals in a stress-induced state, and suggests simple practices like taking deep breaths and eating in a relaxed, parasympathetic state. He recommends going for a post-meal walk and following a plate composition that prioritizes protein, non-starchy vegetables, and healthy complex carbs to slow down digestion and prevent blood sugar spikes.

Brad shares his own practices, including diaphragmatic breathing, drinking water before meals, and incorporating regular walks into his routine. Zeco emphasizes the importance of not drinking liquids during meals, as it can hinder digestion.

They also touch upon digestive enzymes and how the body's enzyme production adapts to dietary changes over time. Zeco suggests using digestive enzymes temporarily during dietary transitions but advises against relying on them long-term.

Overall, the discussion provides valuable insights into maintaining healthy digestion, managing weight, and making informed dietary choices, especially for those over 40.

Narado Zeco Powell - The Matter Over Mind Experience podcast

    narado@zecohealth.com www.ZecoHealth.com

In this podcast interview between Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks and Zeco Narado from The Matter Over Mind Experience podcast, Zico shares his journey from being underweight in his childhood to achieving a healthy and fit lifestyle. Growing up in Jamaica, Zeco had a preference for snacks over cooked food, which led to his underweight condition. When he moved to the U.S. at 16, he realized the need to gain weight and started weight training and learning about nutrition.

Over the years, Zeco's weight fluctuated, but he never developed an eating disorder. However, he realized that despite being fit, he wasn't healthy. He had asthma, allergies, high blood pressure, and eczema. A pivotal moment came when he sought advice from a doctor and was only recommended medication. This spurred his journey into exploring alternative approaches to health.

Zeco began reading books by Dr. Steven Gundry and learned about lectins and anti-nutrients in plants. Initially skeptical, he started making small changes, such as sprouting beans and washing rice, practices he remembered from his grandparents. These changes gradually improved his health, including better breathing and increased energy. Zeco delved into various aspects of holistic health, including nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle changes.

Ultimately, he not only maintained a healthy weight but also improved his overall health. Inspired by his transformation, Zeco obtained certifications in fitness and nutrition, launched his own podcast, and connected with experts in the field to educate others about the importance of gut health, nutrition, and holistic well-being.

Brad Williams shared a similar journey triggered by a lower back injury, which led him to focus on gut health, allergies, and overall well-being. Both Zceo and Brad emphasize the importance of optimizing the body as one ages and the significance of the mind-body connection in maintaining health and longevity. They stress that feeling good should be prioritized over aesthetics and advocate for educating people on these vital topics through podcasts, YouTube, and discussions with health experts.

Is Your Weight Loss Stalling Out: The Hidden Impact of Food Allergies

Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad:

In this episode, Brad Williams, host of "Over 40 Fitness Hacks," discusses the impact of food allergies on weight loss. He begins by addressing how certain foods can cause bloating and inflammation in the body. Brad emphasizes the importance of recognizing and managing food allergies, as chronic inflammation can hinder weight loss progress.

Brad shares his personal experience with food allergies, which started with an anaphylactic shock from using NSAIDs and later from consuming whey protein concentrate. He explains how even mild allergies, like his shrimp and red wine sensitivities, can contribute to chronic inflammation. He also highlights the connection between whey protein allergies and milk protein, which led to his discovery that many cheeses contain whey protein, causing further inflammation.

To identify problematic foods, Brad recommends paying close attention to one's body and tracking symptoms, especially focusing on the upper belly area. He suggests eliminating or limiting foods that lead to bloating and inflammation to achieve better results in weight loss, protein synthesis, and hormonal regulation.

Brad also briefly mentions remedies for bloating and inflammation, such as drinking hot water with honey and lemon juice or consuming Aloe Vera. However, he stresses that these remedies should not be a substitute for a healthy diet free of inflammatory foods.

In conclusion, Brad urges listeners to listen to their bodies, closely monitor their diets, and create a list of trigger foods to reduce inflammation and improve overall well-being. He plans to explore this topic further in future episodes, emphasizing the importance of understanding and managing food allergies for better health outcomes.

In this podcast episode, Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness Hacks discusses his experiences with Direct Primary Care providers, or DPCs. He introduces DPC as a membership-based physician's program, distinct from traditional hospital services, offering a concierge-style healthcare experience. Brad emphasizes the value of DPC as a complement to conventional health insurance and highlights the benefits he and his family have enjoyed over the past four years.

He explains that DPC offers immediate access to a doctor and healthcare team, allowing members to receive same-day or next-day appointments, fostering a sense of concierge service. While DPC facilities may not handle major emergencies like accidents, they excel at addressing common healthcare needs, from treating illnesses to providing advice on diet and performing preventative measures.

Brad describes the cost-effectiveness of DPC memberships compared to traditional insurance, making it an attractive option for many. He also mentions that DPC providers often focus on preventative healthcare, offering advanced preventive measures and scans that may not be readily available through larger healthcare corporations.

He shares a personal anecdote about the convenience of having quick access to healthcare for his daughter, contrasting it with the delays experienced with larger healthcare providers. Brad encourages listeners to explore DPC facilities in their area using the DPC Frontier Mapper website, emphasizing that it's essential to maintain traditional insurance for emergencies while benefiting from the immediate care and personalized attention offered by DPC providers.

Brad concludes the episode by expressing his excitement about his upcoming checkup with his new DPC doctor in San Diego, emphasizing his dedication to optimizing his health and sharing his experiences to raise awareness about the benefits of Direct Primary Care.
