The Miami Dolphins didn't beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs — but Kim Bokamper and Joe Rose walked away from the game feeling a whole lot better about where this young team is headed.

On this episode of Out to Pasture with Bo & Joe, Bo and Joe break down what they believe was easily Miami's most encouraging performance of the young season. From improved play along the offensive and defensive lines to aggressive play-calling, a 17-play touchdown drive and rookies gaining valuable experience, the Dolphins finally showed signs that their youth movement may be starting to take shape.

They also explain why they're not giving up on Malik Willis. Joe loves Willis' athleticism and big arm, while Bo looks at the development happening around the young quarterback and believes those inexperienced receivers should continue getting better as they learn the NFL game.

But the progress comes with a devastating blow: De'Von Achane is lost with a torn ACL. Bo and Joe discuss what losing arguably Miami's most explosive offensive weapon means, why Achane had become so important as a leader, and how Ollie Gordon II, Jaylen Wright and Malik Washington could be asked to fill the enormous void.

84. The Dolphins FINALLY Showed Us Something | Nothing to Hyde Sep 30, 2026

The Miami Dolphins are 0-3. But for the first time this season, Dave Hyde and Kim Bokamper walked away from a loss feeling encouraged.

On the latest episode of Out to Pasture Presents: Nothing to Hyde, award-winning columnist Dave Hyde and former Miami Dolphins defender Kim Bokamper break down Miami's loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs—and explain why the final score doesn't tell the entire story.

The word of the week?

Progress.

The Dolphins were still in the game in the fourth quarter against one of the NFL's top teams. Malik Willis made plays with both his arm and his legs. Rookie Jacob Rodriguez came up with an interception. Chris Bell delivered a 44-yard reception. And even after De'Von Achane left the game just five plays into the afternoon, Miami put together an impressive 92-yard opening drive.

But there's still plenty to clean up.

Dave and Bo dig into the penalties that continue to hurt Miami at the worst possible times—including a penalty that wiped out a sack and another that erased a touchdown. They also debate Chop Robinson's controversial hit on Patrick Mahomes and whether NFL defenders are being put in an impossible position when trying to pressure quarterbacks.

Then comes potentially the biggest concern of all: De'Von Achane's injury. Bo calls it devastating for a Dolphins offense that could least afford to lose its most proven playmaker. What does Achane's absence mean for Malik Willis and an offense already relying heavily on rookies and unproven talent?

And with Brian Flores coming up next, Bo and Dave revisit Flores' complicated tenure as Dolphins head coach. Bo explains why he remains firmly in Flores' corner, while Dave offers his perspective on why Flores was a talented coach brought into an organization whose circumstances made conflict almost inevitable.

82. Can This Dolphins Team Actually Get Better? | Nothing to Hyde Sep 21, 2026

Two games into the season, the Miami Dolphins are 0-2. But for Dave Hyde and Kim Bokamper, the biggest question isn't simply when will they win?

It's can this team actually get better?

On the latest episode of Out to Pasture Presents: Nothing to Hyde, award-winning columnist Dave Hyde and former Miami Dolphins defender Kim Bokamper examine where this extremely young Dolphins team stands after its loss to the San Francisco 49ers—and whether there are legitimate reasons to believe things can improve as the season goes along.

For one half against San Francisco, there were encouraging signs. Miami established the run with De'Von Achane, controlled the football and gave Malik Willis opportunities to make plays. Then the second half arrived, the secondary broke down, Nick Bosa began wreaking havoc, and the game quickly got away from Miami.

Bo points to the challenge facing a roster filled with rookies and young players who are learning on the fly—while Jeff Hafley and an inexperienced coaching staff are learning right along with them. Dave looks back at the 2019 Dolphins, who were awful early before steadily improving and somehow finishing with five wins. Can this group make the same kind of progress, or are the circumstances simply too different?

Dave and Bo also dig into some of Miami's biggest concerns through two games: the lack of a consistent pass rush, instability along the defensive front, a young secondary being asked to do too much and an offensive line that had its hands full with Nick Bosa. And with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs coming next, those problems aren't about to get any easier.

Then there's Malik Willis.

Dave and Bo agree that it's far too early to make a final judgment on Miami's quarterback. Willis has shown flashes, his athleticism has allowed him to create plays under pressure, and he's operating with an inexperienced group around him. But by the end of this season, Miami needs an answer to perhaps its biggest question:

Do the Dolphins have their quarterback of the future?

And because this is Nothing to Hyde, football is only part of the conversation.

Bo unveils his latest NFL press box food grade, and San Francisco comes to play: chicken, crispy fries, three kinds of hot dogs, an omelet station and enough free candy for Bo to start stuffing his backpack. The 49ers earn an 85, taking over the top spot from Las Vegas.

The Dolphins may be 0-2, but this season was always going to be about more than the standings. Now the question is whether Dave and Bo can start seeing the progress that tells us Miami is actually building toward something.

Joe Rose is out this week, which means Kim Bokamper is stuck with Out to Pasture Executive Producer and Fish Tank co-host Seth Levit — and Bo makes sure Seth knows exactly how thrilled he is about the arrangement.

With Joe away, Bo and Seth debut Comment Roulette, digging into the comments from recent episodes and giving Dolphins fans a chance to drive the conversation. And nothing is off limits.

Bo responds to questions about Malik Willis and whether he can become Miami’s long-term answer at quarterback, criticism of the offensive line, the lack of pressure from Chop Robinson, expectations for a roster loaded with rookies, and whether the Dolphins defense can possibly slow down the San Francisco 49ers. Bo says determining whether Willis is the guy is the single most important question Miami needs to answer this season.

Dave welcomes everyone back for Episode 2 of Nothing to Hyde…by once again calling it Nowhere to Hide. Fortunately, Kim Bokamper is there to keep Dave somewhat on track as the guys tackle some much bigger questions surrounding the Miami Dolphins heading into the 2026 season.

The Dolphins have one of the youngest rosters in football, could start as many as eight rookies, and are coming off what Bo calls one of the most “hideous” three-game stretches of preseason football he's ever seen. So what exactly should Dolphins fans expect this season?

Dave and Bo discuss Malik Willis, the addition of former Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord, Miami's young receiving corps, the massive role this rookie class could play and why this season may need to be judged by something other than wins and losses.
