Spring Game breakdown/standouts| Highly sought after recruits at the game & where things stand heading into big month of June w/ChampUBBQ| NFL Draft talk| What type of job would interest Grinch & more! Apr 29, 2021

Show notes

OUinsider staffers Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune join up to talk about the Sooners spring game that was held this past Saturday.

The trio discusses the standouts during the game and discuss who they feel will be the starters in the OU secondary and why. The Oklahoma secondary has become a position that has length, range, and a ton of speed in it. Brandon Drumm has a ton of insider/sourced notes in his DrummBeat Sooners spring football insider/VIP sourced notes (PART 1), where he has quotes, notes, and more about the secondary positions (Part 2 coming Thursday afternoon talking DL, OL, LB, and more insider/VIP information).

Collin and Parker then talk about the Sooners' young standouts and if they buy into Caleb Williams buzz on him vying for the starting QB spot over returning starter and leading 2021 Heisman Trophy candidate Spencer Rattler. Drumm joins the talk and discusses how he sees that playing out and if Riley and company will have a bunch of packages for Williams to contribute in key portions of games. Is this Rattler's team? Listen and discuss in the comments!

OUinsider staff then dives DEEP into some potentially good news about to happen on the recruiting front, along with OU hosting several top-level prospects on "self-guided" visits for the Oklahoma Sooners Spring Game.

They talk about four-star TE Kaden Helms, four-star LB Kip Lewis, five-star DB Gentry Williams, four-star DL Chris McClellan, four-star OL Jacob Sexton, and fast-rising DB Jayden Rowe. They also talked about a few 2023 guys in four-star TE Luke Hasz, four-star OL Cayden Green and dove into some ChampUBBQ notes that listeners would love to hear (more in-depth on the VIP board that VIP members have access to).

Before diving into the NFL Draft and ending the podcast, the trio talks about Sooners' defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and what it would take for him to look or take a head coaching job. What level would it have to be, and does he stick around and be picky about it due to his salary, talent on hand in Norman, and the fact he said this is the best he has ever had (speaking about his time at OU)?

They end the podcast talking about where they see EDGE rusher Ronnie Perkins, OL Creed Humphrey, DB Tre Brown, DB Tre Norwood, OL Adrian Ealy, and RB Rhamondre Stevenson getting drafted. OUinsider staff touches on all the topics noted above and SO MUCH MORE!!! ALL on LATEST OUINSIDER Under the Visor Sooners Podcast!!!

Show notes

Our OUinsider analysts Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune talk about the off-field issues hanging over the OU program right now with two players (now suspended players) going through an investigation. Parker Thune talks about what he witnessed that night being at the same place one of the Sooners players was detained, and he and Brandon Drumm talk about why OUinsider chose to hold off going saying what Thune saw go down that night.

The trio talks about where OU goes from here and how things are progressing with the investigation. Then, talk about what Oklahoma can do to offset the POTENTIAL loss at WR with a few injuries, investigation, and removal of Obi Obialo from the Sooners roster.

One player that looks to be transferring, and has since announced he will be a Sooner, is Arkansas transfer WR Mike Woods. Woods was the Hogs' second-leading receiver and a player that can stretch the field. OUinsider staff discusses how he could help OU and more.

The staff also discusses who they are watching on both sides of the ball in the spring and why, along with talking about big-time visitors that are heading to Norman on self-guided visits this coming weekend. How will all that help the Sooners with each prospect? The staff dives deep into that.

Before ending the podcast, the staff discusses how Sooners' new basketball coach Porter Moser is fast becoming known as "Portal Moser" with how well he is building a very solid roster in his first off-season as Sooners head coach. With Oklahoma getting the Groves brothers from Eastern Washington and Duke transfer guard Jordan Goldwire, Oklahoma is still in market to fill a few more roster spots, so we will see how this plays out. OUinsider's Collin Kennedy dives deep into the hoops news, as well.

Lastly, the staff discusses the last few weeks of travel and recruiting news. From five-star Florida talent, elite DMV area EDGE rushers, and big-time OL/DL talk, the OUinsider staff has you covered head to toe.
