EMERGENCY PODCAST: The Browns trade Baker Mayfield to Carolina Jul 06, 2022

Show notes

The Browns finally traded Baker Mayfield. He is going to Carolina in exchange for a conditional draft pick and the Browns will pay $10.5 million of his 2022 salary. It officially ends a four-year run for Mayfield as the team's starting quarterback and allows the Browns to move on to navigating a potential Deshaun Watson suspension.

Mary Kay Cabot, Doug Lesmerises, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe hopped on Zoom after the news of the trade broke and recorded an emergency podcast. What do we think of the deal itself? Where will Mayfield be in five years? What did John Dorsey get wrong in his evaluation of Mayfield?

They break it all down in this emergency podcast.

Browns FAQ: What are the expectations with Deshaun Watson and without? Jun 30, 2022

Show notes

We begin our Browns FAQ series on the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast today. To start: expectations.

It's complicated, of course, because we don't know if the Browns will have Deshaun Watson at all in 2022 and, if they do, when they will have him. In many ways, we're talking about two different football teams.

Our questions:

What is fair to expect if Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback all season?
How many games can Deshaun Watson miss and the Browns still be considered a contender?
What challenges do they face if Watson does miss 8-10 games of the season?

Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe discuss it all on today's podcast.

Is there any chance Baker Mayfield plays for the Browns again? Jun 28, 2022

Show notes

We heard from Baker Mayfield for the first time on Tuesday since his podcast appearance when he answered questions about returning to the Browns if Deshaun Watson is suspended for the season. Let's just say it sounds unlikely.

What if, though, the Browns explore that 0.0001% chance it could happen? What does that scenario even look like? Is it even worth discussing? Would it give the Browns a better shot at the postseason?

Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe discuss it on today's Orange and Brown Talk Podcast.

Then, they spend some time at the end doing a mini FAQ about Watson's disciplinary hearing and how it might play out.
