One World in a New World with Thomas Legrand - Author, Lead Technical Advisor UNDP

You'll be engaged by this deep dive into yet another possibility in the paths to understanding and finding life's purpose. The conversation reveals much understanding and wisdom for the process of moving forward collectively to engage a better future together. We cover both scientific and spiritual evidence of the process.

Thomas reveals that his awakening began about 20 years ago with a trip to Mexico and spending time with a shaman. He shares that the experience opened him to a greater reality in awareness and perception of connectedness. Many have engaged in such endeavors and found wisdom for life in the process.

We touch on his book, Politics of Being, and the need for a new narrative, which he states needs to be positive in nature. This narrative embraces both people and the planet so that our future is more secure. He states that the crises we are experiencing also have an inner component that we don't often recognize. Recognizing the relationship between the inner and outer circumstances is what is important.

Zen brings up the notion of a new world order of harmony among people and the planet that is unfolding as a result of the inquiry and tenacity of truth seekers. The phrase 'new world order' certainly has a charge for most, which Zen acknowledges, yet there is a more profound activity happening that is emerging within the population. Thomas offers his reflections that are congruent and mentions Baháʼu'lláh's writings on the topic.

Thomas goes on to acknowledge that no matter what perspective we choose to view this process, scientific or spiritual, it is an evolution of hearts and minds within humanity. He speaks of his teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, and the monastery close by where he participated in a celebration of his life earlier in the day. He shares that in holding the ashes of his teacher, he had an experience of interbeing that had been the foundation of his teachings.

This 'inner beingness' is what Dr. Legrand believes we need to live by, the understanding that at a holistic and simple level we are all interconnected. The self disappears in the all and the One begins to emerge individuated in human form. Zen had mentioned earlier that in that experience of non-dual consciousness, there is still an observer that is aware of the experience.

In discussing his book, he shares there are two basic principles or questions. First, what is the wisdom-based approach to shifting politics and human development and how can we foster this conscious evolution?

This applies to the panoply of systems within the intricacies of our global village. The second, what is the appropriate path forward that includes the new understanding of the 'flourishing' of humankind in the incorporation of existing systems, across the gamut of business, education, industry, politics et al.

Zen shares his recent acceptance of co-executive director with the Live and Let Live Movement, which is founded on the principles of the phrase itself - Live and Let Live - and the legal and moral principles necessary to instill non-aggressive policies through changing the laws throughout the world to meet the requirements of a peaceful world. We're all leaders in that process.

How do we collectively work together to change the existing systems to stop the aggressive behaviors that are causing harm to people and humanity in general? What does being a good human mean to you? What tools do we have to engage people and systems of change?

How do we maintain consistency and intention? Thomas shares that we can agree and reflect on the general core values that we hold sacred and wise. We can harmonize with how we organize these systems and public policies with goodness, love, peace, and beauty.

One World in a New World with David Witzel - Chief of Conspiration & Convener Apr 29, 2022
    Show notes

Your host has been called an organizational bricoleur, a polymath, deep thinker and researcher and it comes out in his comfortable and open yet focused style. He's been a transformational coach and team building facilitator for decades, with a rich inner life as well. (BeTheDream.com & TeamPartnering.com)

David came out of working with the Environmental Defense Fund, helping companies be more energy efficient. The Regenerative Agriculture Sector Accelerator (RASA) and the Global Regeneration CoLab (GRC) caught his attention when he was introduced to the concept of regeneration. Going beyond a net-zero effect was imperative in his mind.

Regeneration is a kind of policy prescription for making the world better than it was, such as biodiversity, carbon sequestration, new jobs and a different kind of engagement with the environment. Can people be good for the environment? In his deep dive into self, he found a potential that they could.

David shares his notions about how he wants to use the 'last part of his life' to learn how to use the tools available in the virtual space and the internet to assist the growth of humanity. The internet is the largest engineering project ever and it still is growing, with the advent of collaborative tools now. Electromagnetic engagement, light pulses, often spill over into personal experience, too.

Spiritual awakenings that align skill set, passion and purpose don't have to be metaphysical. In fact, for many late in life they are not. It's a redirection of intelligence, knowledge and skill set to serve their community or humanity in an uplifting way. Regeneration is such a path as it aligns people, places and things for restoring the capacity of people to serve the land.

In this new level of engagement, with the IOT, he suggests that we need to consider the interconnectedness of nature and humanity, which is another level of complexity that hasn't been explored to the extent necessary. Now society has to engage this interconnectedness and the capacity for collaboration is growing. Perhaps these notions become self-evident in reflection.

The Global Regeneration CoLab has become a peer-to-peer support network for regenerative efforts around the globe. The participants see themselves as collaborators rather than competitors. Zen asks David about the nature of electromagnetic fields and the interactivity of humans and the internet producing some 'serendipitous' moments, i.e., bumping into others unexpectedly.

Dave refers to the latter as increasing the probability of serendipity and that the nature of the interaction brings a 'sensemaking' component into play. He noticed the sensemaking was something that developed as the people grew in the understanding of each other and the work that could be done for the environment.

Asked about the simultaneous personal development along with the projects, David admits he didn't expect there to be as much self-development as part of the process of learning how to work together in supporting the regenerative efforts. What he found in addition was that he became more aware of personal wellness and the personal traumas that also surfaced as the organization developed.

Asked about his own growth in awareness he offers that his learning curve has been steep with all the elements of the CoLab, such as time zones, how people interact, what they bring to the discussions, and the complexity of organizing the variety of types of meetings for a global community. We don't often think of how systems really work, only that they work for us in delivering goods and services.

We invite you to listen in further as we explore the ways people are learning how to work together in non-hierarchical environments from different backgrounds, cultures, skillsets and time zones. The silver lining from Covid, in this case, has allowed the opportunity for the GRC to develop.

In a past life Faye Kitariev, aka SoFeya, was an Olympic skating coach with her athlete, Sasha Cohen, achieving a Silver Medal in women's figure skating, so she knows what discipline and determination can do. She admits that even though she came from a very disciplined country, she felt she rejected it in her youth.

As an adult in her degree work in spiritual psychology, she became aware of the trauma from the highly disciplined and often physically abusive environment. She was particularly surprised by how her studies revealed many trauma triggers which led to greater self-awareness and the ability to embrace and transcend them.

Growing up in Russia's influence was particularly influential, though not how you think it would be as she defied her coaches and mentors. She mentions a well-known coach, Béla Károlyi, who inspired her as a coach years later; and even later finding a letter she'd written to him telling him about her aspirations in life. Her findings might just inspire you to write about your aspirations, too. After all, goals are just dreams with deadlines.

Midway through we begin to enter the twilight zone when our discussion turns to a bit of synchronicity beginning with a quick interlude on a Russian couple, Nicolai and Svetlana Levashov, scientist and psychic, after Zen inquires if SoFeya knows of him. The flow begins to dive deep into how inner work and spiritual practices. SoFeya shares her journey, including becoming a Kundalini yoga teacher, and how her connection to a greater consciousness led her into her current work.

SoFeya speaks to her growth in awareness and learning that even though we think we know stuff, our definitions are limited by the words we use. Experiences hold wisdom beyond words, yet it's often a challenge to articulate the wisdom garnered in understandable terms and words.

Even when words do come, as we gain more knowledge, those words often change and so we need to not be so attached to them. There is a shared passion for elevating our conditions and the way we see the world as we emerge into something new. You'll enjoy the full conversation.

We speak often about new leadership in our world and wonder how to empower it. Marc J. Victor certainly counters Shakespeare's notion about lawyers in his efforts to fulfill that calling His firm reflects the same, with the new millennial management style that puts his employees and staff first in ways we don't expect, like health-challenges and moral codes. Our conversation takes some interesting twists and turns that you might not expect. Marc understands that we are part of nature, and a plant-based diet is extremely helpful for well-being.

What are the things we believe to be self-evident? The conversation turns to Marc's involvement with politics, and specifically the Libertarian Party, citing the focus on freedom and a non-aggression principle. However, he feels there is more and that peace takes much more effort to achieve; it's not just about freedom anymore.

Inquiring of his efforts to found and launch the Live and Let Live Global Movement as a way to garner support for not only justice and freedoms; he cites moral principles are needed in the world today. Marc notes that principles are a primary foundation, which he references Steven Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People that is rooted in principles.

Oh sure, so you're starting a global peace movement. Let us know when you take over the world. The latter is not an uncommon view, though Marc goes into detail about the meticulous planning and strategy for engaging such an endeavor. His description sounds a lot like Zen's efforts in making sense common. The theme of 'Live and Let Live' is hard to argue with, isn't it? It's like our basic need to love and be loved. Who could argue with that?

Asked about the process of coming out of Covid and the mishegoss its created, from a local perspective, Marc immediately states that we are a global society. Something happened that affected the world and now we are all in it together. He speaks of 'our community' being the world today. We have to look at a win-win for the world, doing things for the right reasons, moving from adversarial to collaborative relationships.

Victor speaks to balance and mentions the image behind Zen and the fact that that IS where we live... one world. Zen mentions a conversation he had with Dr. Edgar Mitchell, sixth man on the moon, about his epiphany of connectedness to a greater reality. We agree that in the 21st century we need to have an inclusive perspective, which Marc notes that the Live and Let Live Movement is post-racial and that we need to promote the individual right of choice, given that the choice is non-aggressive or harmful to others.

We break from the action a moment with a short interlude from Zen's past and the profound understanding that came from it. You'll have to listen for that at around the 34 minute mark. The follow up question to Marc is, 'How do you see the evolution of the recognition of the interconnectedness within humanity happening as we come out of Covid?'

His answer and the 'rest of the story' is certainly worth listening or watching and pondering how you see the evolution happening, your part in it, and what you're able to do to support it.

Diane Wyzga had a knack for asking and answering questions beyond her age early on. It was a mixed bag of inner confidence and outer dismissal by adults. Both expanding her awareness and diminishing her esteem, she held on.

Many of our guests have an early experience of connectedness to the world beyond the norm. Most have at least a brief encounter young, though they don't return until later in life. Speaking to professionals who've established careers gives us all an opportunity to grow in knowledge and understanding, apocalyptically in some cases.

We start out on a deep dive into how Diane first got in touch with her recognition. The question prompts a memory unconsidered for some time. Remembering events that have been 'forgotten' until the question occurs are commonplace in our discussions.

The notion that there is really nothing hidden is presented with the awareness of being cosmic consciousness condensed into form as a point of light, bouncing back and forth to and from the Great Light for however many times it takes for us to understand the fact and learn how to get along. It's all about asking the right questions and letting the answers unfold, referencing Rainer Marie Rilke's perspective. We essentially asks questions, let go, and move on.

Diane reiterates that there is a great deal to learn in the process of learning how to ask and wait. Her comment about a common phrase, 'be careful what you ask for because you just might get it,' as usually considered being negative. She admits that only recently she's come to an understanding that it is not, meaning it comes unexpectedly. Something does come, though, and our job is to say, "Thank You."

As children, she says, we are often told to stop telling stories. Stories are perceived as lies, so stop telling lies. It shuts down the authentic self, causing codependency and other dis-ease. She notes how others misread or misunderstand how others relate to 'tuning in' to self and feeling or perceiving what story needs to be told. Many rescind from life and keep their inner experience quiet because others aren't able to relate or understand and thereby become categorizing or critical, let alone dismissive.

What if we could changer our perspective, become intellectually humble, and listen to others without boxing up their story in some way completely inappropriate to the storyteller. It would seem even disrespectful, though the storytellers tend to fall back and feel disconnected to their outer relationships. Diane has an eloquent and expressive way of putting this understanding into words that are very hard to misunderstand, so it's recommended to listen deeply to this Story Doula.

Diane shares that we all have a story within us, it just takes a special opportunity for them to have it 'listened' out of them. Instead of putting up resistance or projecting our ideas of what the 'truth' of their story is, they now have a chance to tell their stories unimpeded as they are listened to without conditions. Story asks questions in the listening. It is very much alive.

What oral traditions have we neglected as a result? The remainder of our conversation has insight and understanding shared that will absolutely deepen your experience of life and relationships. Perhaps it may even inspire that deeper connection you may have had to return.

We continue to seed the thoughtmosphere with tasty tidbits for transcendence. Ipek originally hails from Turkey, so her perspectives of life and the world are through different cultural eyes, yet so similar to many on the path to their own self-awareness and professional careers. We jump right in with the beginning of her own transformation; perhaps similar to many who've been in corporate environments.

She notes that it became a process of discovery about personal and professional inclinations. It required taking time to explore questions like, "Who am I?" and "What can I give?" There was a sense of being a guide, an influencer that could help others in transition. We discuss the foreknowledge of such a transition that came while visiting Turkey shortly before her 'challenge' showed up.

Zen reflects on his own transformation early and the challenges one faces when events and learning supersede the 'normal' maturation process. He goes on to inquire what that experience was like for Ipek, which she responds that challenges become so great that something has to change within. It took a while for her to get through the internal challenges and move toward her true self, a much different world that where she was initially.

Like many who've developed a life-service awareness through their own transformations, she now helps others to move through the process with less challenges and heartache. Zen mentions the gamut of perspectives from which we ask questions about our emerging process and its dynamics across the current global upwising. He probes Ipek on her own process and how she relates and reflects how others may benefit in understanding it better.

Our conversation moves into the sharing of how what was once called 'living in spirit' has now advanced to a more science-oriented perspective as 'living in quantum entanglement with the unified field' as an experiential process. They agree that questions are answered in a flow of life, perhaps like a choreographed movie specially designed for each individual. It's just up to us to recognize it.

Ipek speaks to a change of attitude she made, in her late 40s, of not doing anything that does not give her joy. This is particularly relevant to the notion of 'flow' in our lives and our ability to move into a state of being that engages life differently and produces the path to that joy through experiences. She agrees on the two-fold process of 'the universe' providing the opportunity and intuition backing it up - essential to understand.

Is it a sensation of being? How does one recognize this sensation and how to tune into it? Ipek relates that it is so important to slow down (to speed up) and recognize what's going on around one with more observation rather than participation. The 'monkey mind' is calmed and allows the inner being to emerge with greater awareness of connectedness and synchronicity.

You'll find great nurturing of self and value in this interview as this introduction only begins to highlight the insights and realizations available through considering the interplay and tangential conversation that brings many aspects of self-actualization and self-realization so important to the process of humanity at this time. You'll be glad you stay, listen and/or watch as we discuss deeper considerations of how we, as a humanity, can move forward toward greater harmony with self, others and nature.

Indra Rinzler says he's a life-time spiritual seeker. He has traveled to 56 countries and has a broader view of society than most in his 75 years of life. Our conversation begins with his acknowledgement that borders are relative and that people are the same everywhere. He expresses the notion of spirituality is perhaps different in each individual and whatever makes you light up.

Does passion for life include an experience of joy? Indra shares that joy may indeed be part of the overall experience, yet folks seem to be both tormented as well as excited in living their passions. What might the visceral experience be of a greater awareness? He shares that many seem to find themselves in the reference of 'glass half empty' or 'glass half full.' Zen asks if they are aware that they really hold the pitcher.

Are we so stuck in a bi-polar framework as to not realize we are the source of our reality? Zen asks about the wisdom he might share from the observations and life experience he's had. How does he see the current chaos and transition through it? His response offers some insight and clarity as to how sometimes what we think we value has to be taken away for us to re-examine our lives.

Is there a silver lining in the process of learning how to navigate through all the suffering? He states there absolutely is in how people are being forced to re-examine who they are and how they want to live. We discuss his vocation with Vedic astrology and use of the enneagram and how he found he shares more of what he needs to learn, not necessarily the litany of details his clients expect.

We have an interlude regarding the aspect of non-attachment that he's found from the years of his own seeking, which is says becomes quite hilarious at times in how the universe works to make light of our attachments. He mentions his father's death in his mid-20s and how his casket had the wrong middle initial and that taught him early not to be attached to the specifics of life.

Indra expresses that now Americans are experiencing trauma closer to home with the constraints being place on our activity. He says the silver lining is that people who haven't been happy in their jobs are not having the chance to change, some personal choices are forcing it as well.

Our conversation evolves into looking at the various Yugas, which are a series of ages put forth in Vedic astrology and understanding. There are four ages, with the Kali Yuga (last age/decline or density of humankind) transitioning and showing signs indicative of the Dwapara Yuga (coming age/ascension of humanity).

There's a silver lining in the density as well, as it tests our mettle of discipline and seeking a higher path. The transition offers signs such as atomic energy, quantum physics, internet proliferation and universal health care. Indra speaks to the reality of telepathy and communication we all experience, and are more aware of it today, as also being an indicator of the Dwapara Yuga.

One of the most interesting insights Indra offers is that he's noticed all the different species on Earth, a connectedness they all seem to share, and that across the universe it may only be a difference of scale as to the recognition of the interconnectedness we share.

You'll really need to explore the rest of the story as we explore other interesting points of connectivity. Indra shares some reflections of his teachers and the work he's found that continues to k

One World in a New World 2021 Recap with a treat from then, before Zen, to now. Mar 11, 2022
    Show notes

Like Paul Harvey said, "and now, for the rest of the story.' In times like these, the conversations that matter inspire a deeper connection to life with self, others, and the world around us. Part 2 of the 2021 features short clips from empathic and generative chats that are at times poignant and, at others, salient with tasty tidbits for transformation. There's a precious present afterward, a reveal from nearly 50 years ago now.

Our first six months of conversations were delightful, insightful and full of wisdom shared through stories of life; the trials and tribulations as well as the transformations and triumphs. I am so grateful to each of my guests and their willingness to share their stories and listen to mine. The psychological safety and intellectual humility necessary for deep conversations is demonstrated throughout them.

We start off with Dr. Pauline Crawford's personal acknowledgement of the process of co-creation. Kosta Makreas expounds upon a moment of contact his wife experienced while he was participating in a CE-5 event. Dr. Melissa Hughes talks about the things we don't know about ourselves that make us who we are and what's fascinating about grounding and observing the mind's meanderings.

Dr. Dennis Reina speaks to the development of trust building in organizations. Tom Paladino offers his early learning about seeking the advice of elders; those who've journeyed where we want to go and listing to their wisdom. Geoff Woliner considers the notion of what lights up our soul, the activities or interests that inspire us. Dr. Pat Boulogne speaks to the nature of patterns, especially noting and changing those that aren't beneficial.

Doug Brietbart shares his dark night of the soul and the consciousness that became accessible in the quiet. Lisa Ma gives insight into how people are gathering and supporting one another as we progress from the chaos. Mark O'Brien spills the beans on his inner child re-awakening and the difference it made in his life. Laura Staley invites the experiential wisdom forward, that thinking about 'doing' just isn't the same.

Our next round of conversations will take some interesting twists and turns as we meander through the garden to find the delicious food for thought not often found, let alone shared.

    One World in a New World - 2021 Recap part 1 Mar 04, 2022
    Show notes

Beginning in June of 2021, new conversations developed and dove into areas not often addressed in the marketplace, let alone everyday lives. Our goal was to demonstrate that deep dives into the relationship between inner and outer realities is not only possible, they are so very similar across the vast backgrounds of the guests.

This gives us hope, perhaps even inspiration that we can grow together and co-create opportunistic solutions for moving us toward harmony within self, with others and with Nature. The latter is a two-fold reality pregnant with possibility; that which is within us and that which is of the world merging for the greater good of all.

These clips from about half our guests, as Pt 1, offer a collection of poignant realizations and salient points of a new order that appears to be developing naturally, Our apocalyptic chats illustrate how the curiosity, inquiry and vulnerability of the participants allow them to speak from their depths of contrivance beyond the petty notions of separation and survival.

Closing out 2021 brings immense gratitude for these opportunities to examine and explore the rise from our past traumas individually and collectively toward something greater. We don't know exactly where we are going, or even how to get there, yet these chats are part of many that are happening around the globe now.

Evolving toward a civilization that demonstrates our humanity is a desire apparent in all the guests, applying and offering their personal skill set to the process. Our entrance into 2022 will start with an exciting tone for expanding our conversations into this emerging order and how it might be helped through participation and sharing resources that facilitate the process.

For now, I invite you to explore my recent book - ZERO to ONE: Making Our Way Toward a Conscious Civilization. Moving beyond the commission breath to more rarified air, you can download it for free at https://BeTheDream.com/zero-to-one
